I like Once Upon a Time as well. It is still interesing in the second season though it was better in the first.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

Since we are getting so close to the end of the thread is it almost time for the annual thread stats?

We're only at 88.85%, still 11.15% of the thread to go. I'd like stats though, stats are good.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

We still have over 1000 posts to go, but stats would be nice. I wanna know how much I contributed.

I went out to a local Thai restaurant for lunch today. Also, you must wait for two other posts after yours before you can post.

Stats.

Isn't it lovely how these sort of file sharing sites always have the same progression where they gradually make it more and more difficult for you to use them without signing up? I used to love MediaFire. Now you have to register with them to upload anything and you have to pay money if you want anyone other than yourself to be able to download it. Screw that!

Huh, I could have sworn I was going to be lower on the list. Guess I've posted here more frequently than I thought.

14% of my posts have been made in the two 10,000 post threads.

Actually, check which list you're reading. 14% is in this thread alone. For both threads combined it's 28.7%!

12.9% of my total posts have been in one of these two threads, though if you only count posts since the first thread was started it's more like 40%.

So it is. My mistake.

I should probably diversify my post location portfolio. :P

Going to rural Philippines excites me a lot but no internet or cellular coverage exists there... I was thinking about packing some books but don't know which ones to choose :\

Carl: Good luck with that, I'd go crazy. I remember when I went to a friend of my mother's north of Winston-Salem. I couldn't stand how quiet it was.

So I've only made 100 posts between the two. Who'd a thunk it...

If you want "not a sound", go out into the desert. You slam the car door shut, and then it is deadly quiet. Only other noise you will hear is occasionally a faint rumbling in the distance as another car comes along, gradually getting louder, then *whoosh* as it goes by, and then the rumbling fades off into the distance and it's quiet again.

I'm pretty jazzed about how well the ALCS is going.

I'm not, I was planing to take a trip to Cincinnati, then Washington, then Baltimore, now I'm stuck with places I have no interest in for oblivious reasons (Detroit, San Fran) and teams I despise (St. Louis) Looks like i'm going to skip this world series.

Tumbleweeds also only move if there is wind. Part of the deal with the silence is that there is no wind, either.

I'm speaking from experience with Utah. Other areas may yield different results..

Between here and Schulmania, I've made most of my Simtropolis posts. Kinda nice to be top five in this thread, despite being completely meaningless.

Yeah, as much as I love the Tigers (and my home state of Michigan) Detroit's a pretty terrible place to visit, and Southeast Michigan (where I'm from) is a flat, boring nothing that actively repels tourism. Of course this time of year you could go leafing which actually is pretty awesome, now that I think about it, and there really are some pretty great places around the state and even in the Detroit area, if you do some research before you go. Just, you know, get OUT OF THE CITY AND DON'T STOP BEFORE YOU'RE GONE after you leave the game.

My father and I spent a couple nights in Detroit this past summer.

We actually intentionally visited Highland Park (supposedly, according to a blog I read, the worst part of Detroit), because we have a fascination with urban decay.

West Baltimore, by the way, is in worse shape than Highland Park.

It's possible that since Detroit has been so bad for so long that it's actually not as bad as other parts of other cities are these days, because there's just nothing left to destroy. I've actually heard urban farming is making something of a comeback within Detroit city limits.

EDIT: YAY SWEEP

I've heard that there has been plans to destroy old buildings and turn it into farmland in the nearly 100% abandoned neighborhoods in Detroit. I wonder how that's turning out because I've heard about it quite a while ago and heard nothing again of it.
