Yeah. I used to be really good at it and solve it pretty fast when I knew the algorithms. Its funny because people always think its harder than its seems even though its a puzzle with a finite number of permutations. Algorithms, when used correctly, allow you to be able to solve individual parts of the puzzle without scrambling other parts, thus eventually solving it.

If you want to know something particullary difficult to solve, the v-cube 7 is ridiculous. The number of permutations equal to 19 500 551 183 731 307 835 329 126 754 019 748 794 904 992 692 043 434 567 152 132 912 323 232 706 135 469 180 065 278 712 755 853 360 682 328 551 719 137 311 299 993 600 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 :boggle:

You can apply roughly the same algorithms to the V-cube 7 as you can to the Professor cube, only with 2 more blocks each side.

NMUSpidey: what level of algebra would you define as being the lowest non-simple level? Alternatively, what's the highest simple level?

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

That's it, I'm not getting a V-Cube 7 :P

(not like they have it around here anyways :P)

I'm going with something between y=mx+b and (ax+by)(cx+dy)=z, solve for x or y. I might remember more if I could see a math textbook...

EDIT: Fixed muh bad grammar...

No, he is referring to a newer song. One by LMFAO or something. If you ask again, I will link to both of their music videos. They are funny.

So... solve for one given the other(s)? Easy stuff.

One of the problems in my algebra course asked us to prove Fermat's Little Theorem and Wilson's Theorem. A tad more difficult than mere numerical manipulation. :P

I finally completed my Marcopoly City Board (pending name changes of various properties if suggested). I have no idea why because no one would want to play it here.

If it garnered enough attention, I would write up all the chance and community chest cards (the chance cards will be modified from real Monopoly City cards and the community chest cards will be modified from classic Monopoly cards with additions to both and minor trimming of duplicates by comparing the chance cards of monopoly city and the chance and community chest cards from classic monopoly). Then I would need to draw icons for 1-4 unit properties taking 1-4 tiles for both residential and industry (the tiles are 42x42 with a 1 pixel border between all of them), the bonus structures (stadium (4 tiles), parks (1-4 tiles), windmills (1-4 tiles), water tower (1 tile), schools (2-4 tiles), and police stations (2-4 tiles)), the skyscrapers (they are 1 tile each and double rent for a color group), headquarters tower (doubles rent for all properties owned by the user), and the dreaded hazard buildings (landfill (1-4 tiles), nuclear power plant (3-4 tiles), coal power plant (2 tiles), sewage treatment plant (3 tiles), prison (4 tiles), and toxic waste dump (4 tiles)).

Here is the indexed 64 color PNG: marcopolycityboardv9.png

Here is the 512 indexed color PNG (with landscape): marcopolycityboardv11.png

Here is the original thread about creating it for forum use: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/topic/41838-help-me-make-a-new-monopoly-board-game-to-play-here/

Here is a SimCity 4 version of Boardwalk (vanilla version): boardwalk2jan0012993010.png

It shows off a neighborhood that has 3 times the limit of bonuses (cheater)

Nope, no proofs for me. We did proofs the year before in geometry class. I did not enjoy doing that, and pretty much ended my relationship with math beyond numerical manipulation. I'm much more comfortable with the humanities.

Apparently having to do proofs on an exam is very common in college math and engineering classes. Not that I would have known without talking to people, I never had to in any of my classes.

Which is good, because I suck at both memorizing proofs and at figuring them out.

The engineering program at my school was big on teaching practically. They weren't going to make us memorize proofs since there's no reason why, as an engineer, you have to have the proof memorized - what's important is knowing how to use the formula that comes out of the proof. The focus was on training engineers, not future Ph.D's.

I had a couple professors who were specifically critical of the fact that a lot of professors at other schools were very theoretical and would teach things that were correct mathematically but made no sense in a real world application and in a way that wasn't useful to engineering practice.

While I would not expect proofs in engineering, I would expect them in maths courses. Algebra 1 Honours (the algebra course I mentioned) is definitely a maths course (and quite pure maths, at that), so I would expect proofs to be part of the assessment.

Also, I just won a game of Rise Of Nations against someone I know to be really good at RTS, someone who is good at RTS, and someone I don't know the skill of. I'm quite happy about that.

Step 1: Get the two good people to fight each other.

Step 2: Develop and build as many wonders as you can.

Step 3: ???

Step 4: Victory!
