Parisian... you need to allow those who wish to help you with nightlights help you. It will really be a shame if you put Bryant Park on the STEX without them.

You should really start practicing with night lighting so you don't have to keep asking others to do it for you.

Nightlighting just needs some time and practice. If you managed to do most of these BATs(that I've been missing...wow...15.gif) then you should be able to do nightlighting. You've seen the omnis and spot lights have you? There's also the nightmaps, and where you have to enable them on the windows in the BAT Parameters Tab.

Most of your models need just some texturing work, and proper lighting rigs. For textures, most look kinda cartooney or over saturated. If you need a better choice of textures to edit yourself try www.cgtextures.com for some. Gimp would be a great program for you to have to edit textures with, sorry I don't have a link to it at the moment.

And what I mean about lighting rigs, notice how on some of your larger models(1 Bryant Park for example) how some of it has no shadows. There is a way to merge a larger lighting rig and delete the old one in the scene, but I can't really explain it so well myself, sorry.

Thanks guy. I noticed there was a problem with the shadow, I thought first that it was Gmax which was not that adapted to large models (because most of BATers here use other stuffs like 3dmax or others. But the fact that i don't find the solution on how to change the rig is a problem.

Thanks too for the texture website, Lucky7 sent me a link to this site too. I will be able to improve textures on my BAT.

But for nightlight, it's not a joke, I have a serious problem to do it. I ve try on the 1166 Avenue Of The Americas but was not really realistic. The fact that english is not my language and Gmax full of specifics terms and options is really hard. I don't think I use at least 50% of the program facilities. I m unable to see the difference between Omni lites and others...

I m working on this now. Cartier store on fifth avenue, I need to realise the Versace one on the right of Cartier. I know now how to create certains nitelite. I will try to make my best on this.

I have an idea, maybe I could concentrate my work on luxury shops near E49th street... I don't know yet. I will upload the Zebra Tower very soon.

Whoa, it's hard to say, but it think this might be your best work, Tiny but Mighty, i don't like the back and side wall's textures very much, i think you should find something else more suitable, but considering it's a W2W, It wouldn't really matter.

Thanks Guerilla! 4.gif Don't worry for the wall, I put this color but it will not appear when the 2nd building will be finished...

Yes it's tiny, but there is a lot of details and my computer is starting to bug a little bit 15.gif I think I will open a new scene, realise the Versace one, and merging it in the cartier scene!

PS: What does it mean a W2W?

I believe it mean's, Wall too Wall, i could be wrong, but it would make sense that it's that cause most buildings people say are W2W's have black walls where for where other buildings should reside, I myself don't really know, ask Sgt Pepper =3

Your ability to capture the heart and soul of these iconic NYC masterpieces is astonishing! THANK YOU for all of your efforts to help bring a new dimension of The City to life on Simptropolis.

P.S. Don't let those nightlighting issues get you too discouraged....Gmax is not the only game in town 4.gif

Parisian, you have improved greatly! This new BAT of yours is beautiful! Almost perfect! For now, the only thing I have to say criticism wis would be the roof texture currently. It's a tad bright and could use some lowering of saturation a bit. But aside from that, it's wonderful. That facade is perfect.

I'm wondering if you still need help with your other BATs though, if so I'll do what I can. I apologize for not being in your thread that often.

Hey Parisian.....wanted to congratulate you on the BAT release a couple days ago.

Regardless of the rating, it was a fantastic BAT......just because some down-rating party-poopers downrated it doesn't really matter. 2.gif

    Keep up the stellar work....

Nice to see this again. 4.gif Hopefully we all can help out to make this a spectacular V2.

Texturing is a big thing, and so far the texturing still could use some work. For one thing, the white I see is waaayyy to white. 3.gif I think the white buildings greyish-white wall texture is fine, just the awnings above its windows are way to white. The white parts on the roofs need to be toned down some too. I think the contrast and saturation of the rest of the textures could be worked on. The UVW Mapping on the cornice of the brownish-orange building could be increased, where it looks less like pixel-ated dots. Some of the air-con' units could be retextured too. Modeling wise on these is a vast improvement compared to your previous models. I'm glad it looks like you're getting the hang of things.

So far the "part you forgot" is looking nice. Could we see maybe a test render ingame to make sure the scale fits with everything else? The V1 model was slightly over-scaled.

Yes Sght Pepper, thank you for your support, I m back but it will be very few time per week cuz I m over-busy because of my work at the University and christmas is coming 4.gif (so a lot of time off on SC4 to schedule for everybody I think).

Yes I will have to change of texture, the building is more orange. And I have to turn down the light of the awnings. I just still don't know how to regulate the light from Gmax (most of the time when I think that I ve found the right options, it doesn't move a finger in the rendering)

I m finishing the Third small Cartier dependencie and I make a render to check the scale...

I think it is marked improvement over the version that is already on STEX! Still 40 meters for a 5 storey building... isn't it a bit too much? It would make 30m for "unmodified" one meaning 6m average per floor... I'm not saying it couldn't be... Just sort of calling for the some considerations...

Hmm I just noticed teh 40 meters in the picture. 3.gif Definately too much for a 5 storey structure. The tallest building in my town is 10 storeys at 43 meters...I would go with SimFox's suggestion at 30 meters or perhaps a tad lower.

Don't forget what I suggested about the textures! Great models could lose greatness with low-par textures. Not saying the current textures are bad(but they still need some work), but I'm trying to imply texturing is a key point in BATing along with modeling.

BTW, I've noticed that there appears to be floating red awnings in front of the ones on the wall(new photo you posted).
