I'm assuming you are on the right track......haha. 3.gif There's not much I can tell about the water texture you are using until we see a preview render though. 2.gif

I know I was expecting to finish today, but the past 2 days, I couldn't use my dad's computer, which is the only computer good enough to run Sc4 BAT programs.

So if i had to guess, I'll be done around Sunday next week ? Just a guess, not for certain though.

Okay, the looks of it the water should be fine, but there's a little bit of "tiling" on it so you might want to increase its size a bit. I also think the UVW Mapping for the facade needs to be edited, where its larger and the tiles on the facade could be much more visible(but not in away where it looks too repeating). It's coming along nicely! 9.gif

Really?! cool! if you get a chance to go to the chrysler building, can you take a few pictures of the building to the north (425 Lexington)? I haven't been able to find any great pictures of the plaza on the back of the building yet. I think I've got the proportions right, but I'm not totally sure. Have fun there!

Well I came back about an hour ago from the city. And luckily I took pictures of Interchem Building. It's architecturally beautiful, possibly one of the only modern buildings i'll ever like.

The pictures aren't great since it was off my friends phone, but they are reasonably good. 4.gif

    Just some more progress.

And just for your amusement, we were at Columbus Circle and we met this really enthusiastic athlete

Fountain in front of the building looks a litle flat but ... it IS flat actually xD. Water could use a few tweaks, but I don't really know how to do that in gmax, my acquaintance with this program ended quite quickly.

Are there many like him there? 17.gif

"Is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud monuments, until there will be nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. Maybe… this is the time to take a stand, to reverse the tide, so that we won't all end up in a uniform world of steel and glass boxes." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Well, assuming since i'm able to log back into my account, my suspension is over >.> ... Sorry if i had offended anyone,

    hope you read that 3.gif

I'm going to the city tommorow. Sorry PBGV103, i didn't get your request on time, if you still need, here's another chance for something you might need 4.gif. I might be only limited to midtown and central park since I don't have that much money for another MTA card.

Seraf- there are many like him :3.

I don't know how to make my water look less flat, but it's the best i can work with.

I haven't really worked on my building all to much, cuase all im really doing is trying to find some good glass textures, I've gotten a lot of advice but i don't know how to put any of it to good use.

Ima go out on a limb and say those pictures ARE mine, even on my friend's phone they look pretty pro :3.

I'm glad I got a night shot cuase i was clueless since there aren't that many pictures of my building.

If anyone can. can they get a roof image ? Google earth images looks too flat.

Anyways here are 4 renders of the Interchem Building. They are low quality. :3

    Naughty NYBT Member! XD

You are getting there! You ever get that texture I used on 22 Cortlandt Street? I posted a link to it in my thread, since it's a big image. 3.gif

Hopefully you can finish all the basic shapes and stuff soon, and then we will look into getting things detailed as they should.

Thanks, if you do get a chance to go to grand central or something, my building is nearby. Don't feel like you have to or anything, just go have fun! I'm almost done now and I think the model is about 97% accurate at this point. 9.gif

And Brandon, I did get/try your textures, I like them, but they aren't really the same color as the real life Bldg.

    quote>

Hue, my friend, can be changed as easily as you can breathe. The real issue when it comes to bitmaps is the "texture" or pattern of the image. If the pattern emulates the real world material well enough, the hue, saturation, contrast, brightness, and lightness will be perfected in due time. You will never just find a perfect texture, you will instead need to take promising patterns and process them until they fit your needs precisely.

I did a little make over with the Interchem. To me it was a big accomplishment 4.gif

    - I decided I'd use Brandon's Textures.

    - I made it taller.

    - And I made the base columns in sync with the columns that go up in between the windows.

I starting working on my next project which is actually right next to the Interchem Building. 1155 Avenue of the Americas. 4.gif

I got the basic shape complete, It's actually pretty simple building.

The Interchem Building seems to be coming along nicely, almost finished too. You should try to finish it before you get too involved with 1155 Avenue of Americas. If you need someone to finish it let me know.

As for 1155 you have the basic shape down, but the textures might pose a problem. The surface of the building is polished granite which make it very reflective. Getting that polished granite effect might be tricky if you don't have expierence with refelctive textures. I'm sure others would know how to achive that viusal effect better than I.

I'm looking forward to seeing nightlighting on Interchem.

wow Interchem building. It's the first time I pay attention to that building which is modest in term of height, but very interesting in term of architecture. That's a good idea to make it and very creative from you. Thanks 9.gif

GuerrilaWarfare, your 1155 model looks phenomenal 9.gif, but I have to wonder, though. How are you going to pull off the masonry texture of the building? The building's masonry has this glass-like reflection on it, like so:

Uhm, i can't say I know how to do that reflective stuff, because I don't, I'm well aware of the buildings reflection.

Woah, why is it black now? It's definitely NOT that dark, it looks like a polished brown or possibly dark grey stone from the aerial shots on bing maps. You should go take a look at them. Looks like you got the geometery down though. Good job on that. One other thing about the wall texture, the walls of the building are not giant single slabs, they are separate blocks, the same size as the windows. As of now your model looks like each wall is a single object. other than that it looks good. It's on a 4x3 lot, right?

Yeah, I think black is too, well, black...

I would try to use on wall the same texture you are using on the windows, just dull it out and may be applying a bit different distortions pattern to it. The idea is to suggest a bit lesser reflectivity. It is very challenging material to get right though. You certainly pick 'em - first Apple cube and now this.

All-in all it looks good - a marked progress from your first passes at Interchem!

Not sure if those are too small zoom previews or if it like with Parisian GMAX scaled preview output window. If that is the second case than use you mouse whell to zoom in to the accurate pixel level and just do couple of screen grabs to get the whole thing in.

I'll see if I could write a script to enable save functionality for GMAx previews

What is that way you're talking about... I have a sneaky feeling you're have understood PBGV wrong. He spoke of a texture, not actual geometry. That one is better be kept as a single object or you gonna have a real mess of blocks on your hands. I mean if it is a brick wall, you wouldn't consider modeling individual bricks and laying a wall out of them, now, would you

It is a very challenging building if not from the point of modeling, but or it's textures/materials, I mean if you want to make it really good...
