What I meant to say is that He is right, Denver may be needlessly huge, but it is the 5th busiest in USA, 7th in the world 4.gif They did it to accommodate for future expansion, unlike Newark, which they planned the way they did because they never expected air travel to become so mainstream.

My favorite is Incheon International Airport (ICN) near Seoul, South Korea.

-Beautiful, wide-open design

-Easy to navigate

-Friendly staff (unless you have to visit the immigration office)

-Wide variety of destinations

seoulincheonairport.jpg

Very futuristic transportation center:

I also really enjoy McGhee-Tyson Airport in Knoxville, TN.

Small, but beautiful. Security is a breeze.

Where else do you find rocking chairs in the terminal?

Went on a trip and passed through Minneapolis-St. Paul International. That would be a great airport to get delayed in, once you get past security it is literally a mall with so many food and shop options, amazing airport, well layed out too.

Frederick Municipal- small (no scheduled service). Personal service, friendly staff.

Washington National- nice new terminal, neat Art-Deco original terminal, too bad the rooftop observation gallery is closed (I think). Now METRO is convenient to the terminal.

Baltimore-Washington International- Not huge, nice size for an international airport. Nice observation park off the main landing runway.

Reading, PA- Nice, small airport, nice restaurant, nice aviation museum on the airport grounds.

Lancaster PA- Haven't been inside, just landed for a bit. Nice staff.

Wilmington DE- Good service, but delays sometimes from Philadelphia air traffic.

Cleveland Burke Lakefront- Fun airport to fly in to. Right on the water, the city could have done better with the connection to mass transit.

Roanoke Regional- Nice small airport, close to the downtown region, short ride to everything.

Jacksonville FL- Don't remember too much, small?

Panama City Beach FL- Small, security is in the hallway leading to the gates, they don't let you through before your boarding time because there's nothing to do on the airside.

Charles DeGaulle- All I remember is being everyone being evacuated by guys with assault rifles because of a bomb threat.

Airports I want to go to- Osaka Kansai- right on the water on its own island. How cool is that!

London City- right in the downtown area, steep approach. Again, how cool!

Hong Kong International- Looks neat, would love to visit the area.

Palma de Mallorca Airport

I've only been in it for holidays but it has quite a unique design in it with a plaza area in the departure lounge and the escalator floor things are nice. =

Brisbane International Airport >< although I haven't been there for a while...but they say its the best airport in Australia for service etc, even better then Sydney!

And Macau Airport, in China, although its sort of fully polluted and has nothing really special, I like its interesting layout on how the runway is on water and how at night time when your plane is Taxing its self to the Apron, you can see all the night neons saying welcome to Macau and all the casino building lights.

DIA- The terminal is unique. Although it hard to get through. To get from the main terminal to the rest of the airport- hop an underground railroad.

Beijing Capital International Airport is a really nice airport. No clutter whatsoever. Every process that I had to ran very smoothly (hampered, however, by the employees not being able to speak English very well). The interior is very minimalist, but not empty. Overall, the Beijing airport was actually kinda relaxing.

Newark Liberty is also very well-designed, in my opinion. I liked it way better than the terminal of JFK that I had to depart from the last time I went to New York. JFK, for me, is cramped and is showing signs of age. And JFK charges for WiFi access. Who does that???

As for the airport in my area (Ninoy Aquino International), I absolutely hate it. The terminal holding most of the international flights is really tiny, and it is obvious there that management is aggressively downsizing, to the point that they actually use used luggage stickers to fix conveyor belts. I like the architecture, though.

What if I told you that I don't like the airports? They're boring for me.

The only airports that I know is the Aeropuerto Internacional de Guadalajara, GDL, Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México, MEX, and O'Hare in Chicago, ORD.

Oh, Kai Tak, you never cease to amaze me.

The old Kai Tak airport that closed a year before I existed (sadly) would probably be a special mention. Not for the looks of it, but the impact on the surrounding area is actually quite interesting.

Kai Tak was situated right in the heart of Hong Kong, in the Kowloon side of the harbour.

map02.jpg

As you can see in that aerial photograph, it's surrounded by development. Planes would often fly ridiculously low over the streets below, and was probably one of the hardest airports to land in at the time.

A scene like this wasn't too uncommon for many people:

CX747-lands-at-Kai-Tak2.jpg

Because of the constant aircraft zooming low over the neighborhood, it would be logical that the Hong Kong government imposed a height restriction, which they did. This height restriction lasted up until the airport closed in 1997.

The interesting part is, if you get into tall tower overlooking this specific area, you can guess the age of the buildings. Most of the buildings that are shorter than some 7 or 8 stories have been built before '97.

A major problem in Hong Kong would be the numerous illegal structures built on top of apartments and offices. With that in mind, combined with the restriction at the time drove many people to construct illegal basements under their homes. Practically every building in Kowloon side has at least some sort of illegal underground cellar.

St. Louis Lambert International :)

It's just so 'Mid Century Mod' from a design point of view. From a passengers point of view it's "just right" too- it's big enough to have flights to most of the major U.S. cities, and small enough / quiet enough that it's not a nightmare getting to your gates, or waiting in line at the security checkpoint for hours. Love it! :)

P.S. Minoru Yamasaki (most famous for designing the World Trade Center Twin Towers in NYC) designed the Airport's main terminal, which was completed in 1956.

Quantam Eagle: The Old Kai Tak airport was pretty unique! Especially the flight path! I LOVED flying into Kai Tak on vacations (I used to have cousins living in Kowloon). When I was in my early teens, I remember thinking that the view was very 'Sim City Esque' (I was obsessed with Sim City 2000 in those days). Totally neat!

Is that Atlanta? (just a guess)

My favourites in order:

1) Vancouver International Airport YVR

Great shopping, good eats, beautiful airport, and the jaw-dropping view of the Lower Mainland when flying in. Not to mention the staff are still buzzing with Vancouver 2010 excitement, I absolutely love that. The navigation during connections is tedious, but has nice views, and overall an experience worth having. Be sure to use the SkyTrain's Canada Line to connect straight into downtown Vancouver or Richmond!

2) Chek Lap Kok International Airport, Hong Kong HKG

Biggest airport I've been in, and it's lovely. The shopping is admirable, and the sheer size and people served is just astonishing when you're there at peak. Voice announcement and lounge service is efficient and friendly, and the pre-security areas feel like I'm in year 2040. I love riding the mini-MTR within the International Terminal.

3) Edmonton International Airport YEG

My home airport, and my hub when meeting family and friends. I keep up to date on its expansion and development, and I know pretty much the good spots to chill, dine, and play. It holds a special place in my heart.

4) Tokyo-Narita International Airport NRT

It feels like a huge train station or office tower. And I like those two things. The atmosphere is what wins it here. It's a wonderful airport to be in.

5) Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Ho Chi Minh City SGN

The new expansion to the international terminal is really pretty. But seeing the city on takeoff and landing is heartwarming and is truly a breathtaking sight to behold. Beware of corrupt customs officials who ask for bribes to speed up any process if you're of Asian descent!

1. Dubai International Airport, Dubai, Al Dubay'y, UAE

This is your link to the Middle East, and already surpassed London's Heathrow International Airport's passenger capacity and one of the world's most busiest airports. I love it's architecture and design and the ATC tower especially. Access to the city is very easy, because bus and rapid transit (E Rail) is already connected with the airport.

2. Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong, Hong Kong S.A.R., China

One of the most busiest airports in the world, and your link to most of all south eastern asian destinations, Well planned interior architecture and a great facade. Mass Transit to the city is fast, Bus or Rail.

3. Sharjah International Airport, Sharjah, Al Shari'qah, UAE

The Airport of the Emirate of Sharjah, and one of the gateways to the middle eastern destinations, 3rd most used airport in UAE. Mass transit here is just Taxis and Buses.

4. Kish Island International Airport (Kish International Airport,) Kish, Kish Island, Iran

A booming summer destination in the middle east needs a 2 runway airport, and its this. A small and simple international airport, nice to see at night. And this airport has it's own flagship airlines, Kish Air. Buses and taxis are nearby.

5. Kansai International Airport, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Japan

One of the best designed airports in the world, like Hong Kong International, it sits on a reclaimed land. Now with its 2nd runway extension for the increasing passenger numbers. Mass transit, from rapid transits and buses, and monorails are connected to the airport.

6. Princess Juliana International Airport, St. Maarten, St. Maarten Islands, Carribeans

One of my favorites, cause if you go vacation here, you might see airplanes on top of you, feel the airplane gust behind the roaring engines. And probably a human hazard for beachers, but its a great attraction for visitors. I love to see a airplane this close to you, in speeds of 140 ~ 200 km/h.

7. Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Pasay City & Paranque City, Metro Manila, Philippines

My home country's main airport for international and regional, already at it's maximum capacity, and no longer expanded for higher capacity. It is also a military airbase, before it was a airbase for the US Pacific Forces in the height of WWII, and captured by the Japanese forces and made a Japanese military headquarters, and in the process, it created the home of the main airports in the Philippines. And a few miles from the Sangley Point Navy Air Base. Terminal 3 is the new terminal with the highest capacity than the previous terminals, created by Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. And it has 3 terminals. A to B class airport for all Philippine Air Traffic

Terminal 3 Facade:

8. Diosdado Macapagal International Airport, Clark, Pampanga, Philippines (formerly Clark Air Base)

One of the largest airports in the Philippines and in Asia, it is also the biggest US airbase outside US, it was transferred to the Philippine Government when it was strucked by ash falling from the explosion of Mount Pinatubo (A few kilometers from Clark) Now it was rebuild as a international airport for the Region 3 and a temporary replacement for Ninoy Aquino International, if weather conditions in Manila is very bad, or visibility in Manila is very low. And it's one out of 3 of the airports in Philippines that can land a Airbus A380, And can be used as a landing site for the retired Space Shuttle. And this is the only A Class airport in the Philippines that has the possible capacity and terminal design that can be compared to Hong Kong International Airport.

9. Edwards Air Force Base, Edwards, Kern County, California (Included the Northern Base)

Even if this is not a Commuter Airport, i still liked it, cause i found it with the most number of runways for a Airport, and 2 runways that goes longer than the commercial standards of 5000 meters (or 5 km), built on the desert near a dry bed lake. Its perfect for military purposes, because its a big place to put large airbase. This is where NASA's Dryden Research Facilities are located. Welcome to Area 51!

10. Gibraltar International Airport, Gibraltar, Gibraltar Island, Spain

Save for the last, this airport is insane, a avenue passing through the airport itself, planes land to the runway and passes by the avenue, one time i went here and i was surprised from what i saw. No casualties from cars and planes hitting each other. If you wanna do suicide (preferably a airplane crushing you, go here) Like Princess Juliana (but in a different way.) A freaking A Class Airport with a freaking car and air accident waiting to happened.
