uh, ages to view this cj but finally I made it.. LOL. and have to say you have done good job with your city especially the highway, I reckon the city should dense up and fill with heaps of skyscrapper to match the capacities of your highway!!!

I have a very similar playing style; i also use nam, radical ordinace and other such things.

very good use of BATS, excellent use of highways; they are looking very realistic.

I can see that that is a very dominating square grid; i have seen a lot of people trying to break away from it , but u havnt tried too hard to do it. can u tell me why??

Jerebannus XVI: Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

GMT: Hey, thanks! Yes, trees on your highway is a bug caused when you re-enter god mode and plant trees over any elevated roadway. I'll fix it sometime, but I am just too lazy to tear down half of my highway network and rebuild it.

    rooker1: Thanks!

kmoh4346: Thanks, but skyscraper forests just aren't for me. I am going for realisim, and what you see now are the only skyscrapers I am going to allow in this city.

city_lover-niko: Glad you liked Klondike Delta, and I hope you like this one even more!

    crazyarchitect: Thanks!

amal81: It's always good to hear from a fellow radical player, especially when they are telling me I did a good job! 43.gif Anyway, I am using grids so far because, well, grids are realistic! I do make my cities pretty griddy now, but don't worry. My suburban will not be all grids.

To all: Thanks for reading! 19.gif

I just wanted to apologize for not updating recently, but I have been playing SC4 every day after school, and there is a lot I want to show you. The new Mega International Airport (Yet to be named) is about 92% done, and I think it is just as beautiful (or slightly better) than Klondike Intl from my previous journal.

I have also filled a city tile that was connected to downtown with high tech industry. There was very little land on it, but I think I made it look ok considering.

Expect an update in comming days!!! 19.gif

Awesome updates MayorTim, the downtown area is great! Lot of variety, wonder how you get it so right (no abandonment etc) Maybe a prevent-dilapidation mod??

You know, your city would be the perfect location for 6-lane freeways, if only they would be downloadable...
    Great work, keep it up!

kb: So, I am guessing you like ketchup, huh? 3.gif Thanks for the compliment!

hammo: Sorry it took so long for me to reply, but, well, just look down a few posts and you will see the teaser.

newyorkrunaway1: Yup, my runways are about the same length of runways in the real world.

utora: Nope! No dilapidation modd here! I just build whatever I need where I need it, and try to stay as realistic as I can. Also, I don't know what you mean about the highways... The default Maxis highways have 6 lanes. By putting 2 next to each other I got a 12 lane highway...

    Her.Little.Cookie: Thanks!

    crazyarchitect: Thanks!

    Jerebannus XVI: Thanks!

GMT: I will try to get a real update out as soon as I can!

    sloppet: Thanks!

Jerebannus XVI: It was VERY loosley inspired by Dusktroopers, and somewhat inspired by some of Joerg's great airports. The terminal layour is from Joerg, the Runway layout is from Dusk.

To All: The next update should be comming soon! Sorry for not updating in a while, but Highschool is eating my life!

The airport is looking way better than the default airport in the game.

I would like to know how long the runway is. coz if my knowledge is correct modern planes require atleast 2000 to 3000 meters long runway. that is why the in game airports fair miserbly.7.gif

MayorTim: the dual highways, entangled interchanges, and the sheer density of Newark is remarkable. Good job so far! 44.gif

Guys, I am really sorry for slacking off on this journal. I have caught moderate RLS, and I have almost no time to play SC4 between sports, friends, girls, highschool, other hobbies, and my 10:30 bedtime.

Still, I want you all to know that I haven't forgotten, and I still visit the site daily, but updates may become less frequent. I am STILL working on the airport, and while it is about 98% done, it is not ready to be shown in detail. So, I have one picture, a wide city view of it this time, that you will all have to make do with for a little while longer.

    p11wj.jpg

It is low quality on purpose, but you can make out all the main details of the airport from this picture.

More bad news... I am so sorry, but I don't have time to respond to everyone individually, so I will just answer a few questions, and say THANKS to everyone else who has commented.

city_lover-niko: Yes, it is very hard to match Klondike Delta's airport in beauty, but this new one beats the Klondike Delta airport in realisim by leaps and bounds.

Charizard: The Sealwalls are Marrasts, and are available on Simtropolis, and the fishing port lots are located in the Japanese BAT gallery thread.

Again, Thanks for commenting everyone, and I am very sorry I can't adress you all individualy. 34.gif

Great updates Mayor Tim!  That airport is quite possibly the best airport I have seen on this site!!  Not only do you have a talent for great city planning but also great airport design as well!!! Great work, I look forward to more updates and pics of that airport!
