The core SPAM officially entered full Alpha Testing today.   The developers will pound on it for a week or so and then it will begin proper Beta Testing. 

The full SPAM will be released in stages... via optional / supplemental add-ons. We dialed back the "core" development somewhat in order to expedite a release. So the focus for the core is to visually and functionally replace the game default farming lots. Many new features will still be included in the core... but others will be introduced later in add-on packs and supplemental patches.

Certainly does look FAB.

Looking at the latest pics abcvs posted it looks like there are going to be new (dirt) base textures as well.

I'm wondering if there will be any transition textures ?

Example: The Peg pine trail textures are a perfect size for on lot paths (streets, roads, etc, ... whatever you want to call them) since they are narrower than the Peg dirt streets which while they look great seem a bit too wide for use on the lot itself.

A set of transition textures (dirt to dirt) between them would be awesome.

If not, I suppose I can always make my own. It's just that I know you folks will make them way more betterer than I can.

BTW, those crops look tremendous !!!

i have a few questions....do you need CAM for this to grow properly? ..also will this function with other custom farms (like Mbear's and Jmeyer's)? i also use tile-set farming and the farm mod will that cause problems with it? ....oh and is it still gonna be released in two weeks? haha

The SPAM has been developed and tested quite independently from the CAM.

All testing to date has been done without third party farming mods, installed, and it is possible that SPAM will not be compatible with mods such as CAM.   How it will interact with other farming mods at this point is unknown.

At this stage it is likely that other straight growable farm lots will continue to work, and some certainaly do.   In my testing, I have had the older PEG-Chicken Ranch, and also some of OP4's farms grow quite happily along side the SPAM ones.

Oh we are now down to 13 days...   probably.   3.gif

13 days... I thought it was going to be released in two weeks time, two weeks ago. Realistically can we expect this to be released before the end of summer? Not that i'm not gratefull, this is a brilliant addition to Sim city and I would rather wait a month and it be done right.

Are these access roads draggable or lot-based? If they are lot-based, I'd welcome diagonal pieces to break the grid. 2.gif

Oh, and I think this project needs more acronyms.

    Looks great! Jeez, I can't wait!!! My rural areas, along with most other people, is very drab, with the same types of fields. Y'know, the Full Dirt, Dirt w/ seedlings, grass, apple and orange orchard, regular field. And for me, I got my wheat fields too. My favorite thing about this is the irrigation canals and the corn fields. I've never seen any irrigation canals in RL, and I'd love to play around with 'em. Access roads are a nice touch too. I hope they'll be transit compatible. To be honest I might use the PEG draggable dirt roads included in the SAM (Street Addon Mod) they look pretty similar, except without any tractor crossings.

    No, they will be in the 'Miscellaneous Transportation' menu... All the way down at the end ;o))

    (The current beta is still 'Parks', but the next update is already in the worx...)

    As for all dirt roads - well, it's a matter of choice, I guess... personally I find a whole area with nothing but dirt roads rather unappealing... I think at least the main thru fares and some main branches should be asphalt / concrete... Also some producers like dairy farms etc. might not be too happy with all that dust ;o))

    I can't said never before - today all lot connections with rural roads is blind ...

    Sometimes ago we had Onlyplace4's (Mike) concrete connections with concrete roads, but never see it for rural roads ...

    He promised me about it, but ......

    May be YOU - Pegasus with SPAM can create this with Your MTP SERIAL ?

    This is only 2 props - no more !!!

    Well, we have gone quite some ways to try and lessen that effect by adding special dirt driveways and gates to avoid that look... One of the problems with growable agricultural (or any type of industrial lots) is that you cannot predict in which direction they grow (so they'll not always face the street 'properly'...

    So our larger farms have 'exits' in every direction...

    And we always try to at least blend everything a little bit and avoid those sharp breaks...
