This is a 8-ramp Cloverleaf; with an underpass. It features on-off lanes, so traffic flow doesn't get as interrupted as in normal Clovers. People have to ramp onto the secondary Highway in order to access the on-offs to the vertical highway. I've included both a non-florished and a detailed version. The clover itself is really huge, I should show a compare-shot with a Maxis Cloverleaf... hehe...

Non-detailed, to show how it works.

clover1585.jpg

And detailed!

clover2832.jpg

Please also notice that I build my interchanges in a non-realistic way; there's no differences in height, nor is there any civilisation in any proximity of the interchange (that's why they are so huge)

And here's something quite different. It's a T-intersection between two embanked RHWs, the ramps leading on and from them are also embanked, but the ground within them is not.

EDIT: Sorry, corrected it Silur.

I hate stoplights!, so my goal was to try to keep traffic flowing at just about all times possible, unless I got too lazy lol.

The main thru-way through Downtown, with T-Bone's two, one below the bright building, and one by the arena. You can't see it from this distance, but those highways/interchanges are yellow in the traffic grid..

hey caspervg,

that cloverleaf looks really good. you should consider making a tutorial for the omnibus on how to do that. I'm thinking a lot of people would benefit from it 4.gif

vilbe: Nice corridor!  I like the lighting too!

dogma555: Cool setup you have there.  The next step to make your interchanges/highways even better is to work on your grading/sloping and your sharp turns.  You have a lot of steep slops along your routes, try to level them out smoothly and curve your corners.

deimo5:  Nice use of interchanges!  Talk about close exits though, you have 2 massive ones not even a tile apart!

I have 3 more pics to show.  They feature the new MIS for the RHW network and have been reconstructed from former interchanges that did not implement the MIS.

Click on the images to view them in FULL RESOLUTION!

New large interchange: (99% completed, partially open to traffic)

haljackey, those look fantastic! i wish I had the patience to neatly place everything but sometimes i either get lazy, or find that the game is quarky and wont let me make a lot of roads the certain way i want them. Those rhw exit/entrance ramps look awesome, are they actually functional though or PS'd?  Do you have a link for these?

dogma555: Of course they are functional! To download the RHW network, just click the link in my signature. The MIS comes with the new version too (Fully functional ramp system). Just make sure you downloaded all the dependencies! (NAM, NAM update, NAM essentials, etc)

For more information, check out the useful links in my signature.

what can I use to make sure that the roads are fully functional. Ive seen pics with roads that have arrows on them for pathfinding. Is that a download?

That's default on the one ways, or could you be talking about something else? If you downloaded the NAM and selected no or reduced one way arrows, most of the arrows will be eliminated.

chrisnhl50, you need the extra cheat dll file (provided by buggi) to show all the network paths. The thread with a link to the file can be found >here< 2.gif.

Put this dll in the root plugin folder c:\program files\sim city 4\plugins\ to make it work. The cheat you search is 'DrawPaths'.

dogma555: Very good! My only pointer is to use the NAM ground-to-elevated highway transition so that your connections don't look so jagged and steep. Other than that, nice interchange!

thanks although i demolished the entire city.. i wanted a denser skyscraper skyline sort of similar to nyc, where there are no highways or interchanges taking up space. but i am still experimenting with the new rural highway interchanges..

dogma555: Nicely done!  2 comments though:

    1.  Your eastbound lane is missing its shoulder.  Talk about dangerous!  Also, you have room to put it there, so why don't you?

    2.  Your westbound exit is 2 lanes wide.  It would look AND FUNCTION much better if you extended the shoulder for the RHW-6 or provided a RHW-6 to RHW-4 transition.

Anyways, I have constructed my first COMPLETE interchange using the RHW-MIS.  Have a look!

Click on the images to view them in FULL RESOLUTION!

Here's what it looked like beforehand:

    2001215434432620521_rs.jpg

    Here it is just finished.

    2002935546524809245_rs.jpg

A zoom-in on the southbound ramp.  A special lane was constructed for this ramp so it could also enter the highway without merging.

More pictures and info about this and other interchanges can be found in my City Journal (CJ).  There's a link to it in my signature.

    Best,

Hmm i will take your second suggestion into consideration, thanks! but as for the first, I actually like the way it looks with the trees right up to it.. i sort of like it like this, the garden state parkway is like this at times with no shoulders and just lanes right up to the trees (although there is a guardrail of course).. but i may add the shoulder for v3 of this highway, I will probably redo the entire highway anyway once the black rh asphalt texture comes out, since i prefer all the roads to match.. but the interchanges you have there are very nice!! especially the use of the avenue overpass peice for the start of the highway!

Also, are there plans for a 3 lane puzzle piece? Isnt it just the same thing as an overpass over a 3 lane highway, or is there some complication where it wont work unless its a 2 (4 total) lane overpass?

will the asphalt RHW texture have MIS and all the toppings for the new v. also someone needs to make a euro RHW for the road perpendicular intersections.

Good Job on all your interchanges. Currently i only make horrible 10-lane super-highways with hardly any connectivity that cut my city apart, but maybe soon i will post my own interchanges. maybe...

EDIT: (for politeness and not wanting to double-post)

My First marginally proper RHW-4 intechange. No MIS, only splitters, accel/decel lanes and soft curves. basicly just testing my skill. If you want more zoomed pics don't hesitate to ask.

Soft curves?  Uh, I think you're missing one.  You have a rather sharp turn on your NAM Raised One-way road.  You can smoothen that out by putting it back to ground level and gently curving it.

Or, you could re-create the whole interchange so it looks like this: A trumpet interchange.  All smooth curves.

About all the RHW questions, I do not have an answer.  Please post your questions in the RHW thread where you can ask RHW team members.  There is a link in my signature.

yeah i was going to make a diagonal above ground one-way overpass, but the diagonal turn of the ground level road is right there. would it be effective to extend the overpass and make the soft curve. That Trumpet Interchange looks great, i didn't think of putting the southbound road like that. I don't know why i didn't think of that.... I might remake the whole thing after all.
