Are you surprised, or is that sarcasm?  Why?  I'm not sure E3 attendance implies anything.

Hopefully they're hard at work, improving CXL 2.gif

I don't see Blizzard on the list either.

lol...well lets hope that is because they're way too busy creating standalone packs for the single player mode to attend 2.gif

Blizzard is owned by Activision which suprise, suprise is on the list.  Don't believe me?  Read their own website: http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/about/profile.html

Hard at work? Well its all very nice them supposedly being hard at work but not seeing any of it or them taking the time to accept suggestions (and then do the suggestions) is useless.

At least going to E3 would get the publicity, but maybe if they went there and people saw how amazing the game looked but when they see it being played/play it they realise it's a heap of graphics and not much more, it would be more negative publicity than positive.

It is interesting that they aren't there.  (insert negative speculation here)

Well I haven't heard of most of those game companies so......(Insert ridiculous comment hear). If I didn't own a copy of CXL I probably wouldn't have hear of MC ether. If you are implying that because MC didn't go to some stupid convention in the USA means they are going broke. Or if they where there some how there would be a large infixes of people wonting to buy PO just because they where there, then you are delusional. It rally means nothing that hey where there or wont there. If they where there you properly would have put a negative spin on that as well. I guess they can't win can they.

Matthew, is that you?  Now get back to work!

But seriously, I think its constructive criticism.  They should better this game, they should be out there promoting it (especially if they have financial problems).  The fact is, there is alot of good about this game, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it.  But there is alot that lacks as well.  MC first came to us and asked for suggestions.  So I think we are well within our rights to comment on what we think would be better.

I really enjoyed the Bus system.  Much better than SimCity4 for the brief time I played with it (now that my PO is expired).  It remind me alot of Traffic Giant in how you control the but stops and as such is much more realistic than SimCity.

If their objective is the PO, they should be at E3 showing off the progress to the game and maybe showing off what they have planned to keep and spark more interested about this game.  And it would also be a great venue to publish changes to their business model if the rumours are correct.

Being quiet like they have been is not gonna keep or spark more interest.  So this thread is perfectly valid.

I guess you are 100% Happy with MC and what the game is correct?  I'm glad the world isn't like you, or we would be that much more mediocre than we already are.

You guys are over stating the affect E3 has, you can go to as much convention has you like; it's not going to prove anything. People aren't going to buy the game just because you went to a convention and it was there. People buy thing because they like it. If some one is interested enough in city building games they would all ready know about CXL. If some one is interested enough in MMO they would already know about CXL. If not, my bet would be they won't be at the convention ether.

I don't see how going to E3 will make CXL any better. What do you thing will happen people will rush over there to give them grate suggestions about how to improve the game, oh wait, they had a CXL.com for 2 years to do that. They already know the way the game is going. And Didn't they go last year? Ummm so I guess as any good company does they reviewed what they got out of it, and must have come to the conclusion of it was a waste of time and money. Witch could be more wisely spent on other advertising or other projects. Also the US market is not the only market in the world, how many French people do you thing where at the convention, what about German, probably not many.

Also it not that I am 100% happy with the game because I am not. I do see how that has anything to do with it. I live in Australia so I fail to see how MC not going to E3 has any effect on sales hear, or though out Europe of that matter.

This conversation is meaningless, at least from my viewpoint.  I would prefer the developers talk to us by producing code having fewer errors, and fixes for some of the more egregious problems.  Like highway bridges.  Some content to actually add some value to the planet offer would be nice.  Something important.  E3 is a meet and greet, designed to show off new products or significant enhancements to existing products, neither is applicable to  MC.

I have been going to E3 for the past several years and I can say them having a booth would not help them (or us) much unless E3 is actually open to the public unlike last year. PC games really have small sections compared to Console Games and big name publishers. Booth space is not cheap either. It would be a waste of money. I would much rather them fix the numerous bugs in this game. Which by the way they are starting to make me nervous since they have not said or done anything in the past 3 weeks gameworthy as far as thier website and game is concerned. 15.gif

That really does not say much. MC only has one product which is already released, and considering how much it costs to have a booth at a major convention like E3, it's not practical for them.

They could still be at E3 as regular convention attendees.

Are you guys kidding? If MC went to E3, they'd be blasted with questions on why something is the way it is and why there isn't mass tranport in the single player game and well over run with people that are angry for one reason or another. Or the opposite would occur and their booth would be void of people because everybody's already read that which has occured with CXL and they couldn't be bothered to go to that booth when there are so many up coming cool games at other booths to see.

It may come as a shock to you , but I suspect most people outside this community are not interested one way or the other.

Yeah, the casual gamer doesn't buy a game because it was on E3, he buys it because he saw an ad, or deal, or a review, or a friend told him it was good.

As far as I know E3 is intended as a show off for future products that are near release. The gaming companies go there to brag, and the sites like Gamespy get to publish hands-on articles and impressions and all that.

CXL doesn't really need all of this, it needs content improvements. There are a lot of people out there (including many of this community) that are aware of the game, are plan on buying it once it improves. MC knows that. And rightly they're not wasting time and money to attend the convention.

E3 is a gaming industry event for developers and publishers to schmooze with each other and make business deals. And the focus is more on projects that are still in development. Tickets to just attend are rather expensive to discourage the general public from going.

Well, they haven't done anything on their website, and E3 doesn't matter because the serious gamers that will go probaly won't care about cxl

The casual gamer dosent buy city builders to begin with, which is why MC shouldve made a game with a hell of a lot more depth.

i disagree, Soviet779, since the game very essay to play there fore making it essayer for the average Joe to just pick up and play with out having to read the manual, weather that translate in to sales for PO,, I don't know. My view would be no. the acreage gamer probably wont pay monthly for any game no matter how good it is. they would probably buy SP though. But then again the average gamer probably on plays XBOX or PS3. I don't know what it's like every where else, but hear in Australia playing a game on a computer is still classed as something nerdy, where playing consoles are not. it's rather stupid if you ask me.

E3 is intended to show upcomming products and technologies... Monte Cristo has just no reason of going there... They obviously fully focused on cxl now (mc site pointing to cxl.com hints it...) and as far as we know, cxl don't have an "Expansion packs" system like WoW or some others... so they have no "Upcomming expansion" to show... showing a GEM would be ridiculous... does EA make a sims 3 booth just to show future items buyable @EA Store ? or show a loop-video of what the game may look like in 2 years ?

If you were Ford, would you organize a car exposition each time you add an option in one of your car ? "Yay ! New ford fiesta now has Automatic internal lighting ! Let's spend 40k to organize an expo with baloons and cookies for everyone to show that !" sounds a bit crazy huh ?

do people honestly think MC has the time to go to e3.

they have got a lot of work to do. and with people already planning to add their content anytime soon, they will have to moderate that in the near future.

id say just wait people. MC might not be attending but The Big 3 (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo) will show off, and that is why journalists go. And i watch

Be honest E3 has been on a slow downward spiral of late. Most of the old big boys are using their own fanfests to do what E3 used to do with out the expense and generally better exposure for them. CCP and Blizzard are both planned to be no shows on the booth side of things this year for that reason. Both have been releasing much more information at their own fanfest/cons. Generally speaking E3 is becoming more and more a Console convention then a PC convention especially when you look at the MMO side of things.

One explaination to why MC is not attending, do you know how much it costs to Set up a booth at E3? some of the bigger companies pay over a million dollars for theirs location and booth, how can MC compete with that, yes it may get you publicity, but in the end it just costs you an arm and a leg for a little editorial in a magazine
