  1. If you want to worship EA or Maxis... go ahead. If you want to suggest that I wait until the game is out, I don't think that will help me or Maxis. I doubt things will change, but perhaps they could. I have every right to be critical and Maxis has released enough (especially in their two part fan Q & A) for people to be highly critical. What if I want to start SimCity on a long flight? Or my internet/cable went down and I have no TV, Netflix, computer browsing. Now I have no game either. There needs to be a way for the game to start in offline mode. I don't mind DRM that would check in with EA every two weeks or so but the requirement to be online to start is stupid. And then you get started on the smallish city tiles. The fact that Maxis and not you control terraforming and regional road connections. Or the idiotic green space. There is plenty of confirmed things that make me shudder. Sure there is things I've heard I like. But the things removed, its sounds like the current Maxis team is not the original SimCity Maxis team. A lot of basics (like terraforming) from every SimCity are gone and some of the removals destroy what made me love SimCity 4. I mean seriously, have the developers played SimCity?
  2. Simcity Annouces Beta!

    Finally registered. Hopefully I'm choosen.
  3. Simcity Annouces Beta!

Just keep on getting error messages
  4. I just don't get it. If SimCity Social on FB is a success, why do they need to ruin SimCity. They are morons if they think casual FB gamers will pay $80-60 for a game. They play games mostly because they are free, don't need installing and are extremely casual. They turn their back on the community, when they don't realize had it not been for Simtropolis, SimCity 4 wouldn't be half the game it is today.
  5. Nail in the coffin as far as I'm concerned. If they use this is solo mode I will not buy this game. If they put a highway were they want and remove the control I had in SimCity 4 then screw them. I designed everything for a region including the whole transport infrastructure. But beyond things change as you grow. Cities expand transport in the region and even suburbs get subway or trams or elevated rail. This removes growth and will make the game very boring. As for those who say its like SimCity 2000 or 3000. You are wrong. Number one, they didn't have a playable region so its not relevant. The neighbor cities didn't influence your city (like this online world will do, or your solo neighbors) they purely provided training partners. Except even then you controlled where on the map those connections (such as electricity) were made. Road connections were the same way, were basically useless except for exporting garbage (if i'm not mistaken). But YOU STILL CONTROLLED WERE TO MAKE THEM. I understand the multiplayer makes this harder. But you are screwing over solo players and there is nothing stopping two players from agreeing where and when to place connections. If a player leaves/resets then have the new player come in take over the old city. (As even then you can't just delete the city and start fresh as that would screw up your citizens possibly working that city etc...) I don't think they have thought this multiplayer all the way through. And the thirst for CitiesXL and now SimCities to go online has just diverted resources and screwed over solo players like myself. I enjoy SimCity 4, it just struggles when you get a million residents because it cann't utilize all the cores my processor has.
  6. This has to be the worst news I have heard about this game. Its like they haven't even paid attention to the cities created by most users in SimCity 4. If I want green space in my cities I will create green space. I want full control of my cities including where and how to connect the roads thru borders in solo regions. In multiplayer mode it would make sense for majors to make a joint decision on any borders they share. Or have a region wide effort on highways or other projects of regional significance. And yes they confirmed on their website that users don't control connections between regions and there will be green space between them. I'm seriously considering not getting this game. Sadly it appears that SimCity 4 is still the best game in the genre.
  7. Buses in SP on Thursday

I imagine by the end of business day in Europe, so by about 17:00 CET or about 11:00 EST in the US
  8. Playing the PO cities in Solo Mode

They will probably have a tool you can download that does this automatically for you. But they said it is unsupported so they wont help you if it doesn't work or something screws up. I found this myself a few weeks back, trying to see if I could get busses working in Solo. But it was useless to me if I couldn't add or manage buses.

Confused.... quote> Seeing as in 2 months you won't be able to access that content, I think the smarter thing for them is to transition the content over to solo mode. We know buses will be free, but they may charge for a larger content pack and maybe give a good discount to PO subscribers (who have already paid for most of the content).
  10. The end of planet offer

Oh this is amazing. Free buses for Solo. (I liked the buses alot for the short time I played with them on the PO). Also I do think a city simulator should always be a single player game, it just makes sense that way. Bravo to MC!

Or if they where there some how there would be a large infixes of people wonting to buy PO just because they where there, then you are delusional. It rally means nothing that hey where there or wont there. If they where there you properly would have put a negative spin on that as well. I guess they can't win can they.quote> Matthew, is that you? Now get back to work! But seriously, I think its constructive criticism. They should better this game, they should be out there promoting it (especially if they have financial problems). The fact is, there is alot of good about this game, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. But there is alot that lacks as well. MC first came to us and asked for suggestions. So I think we are well within our rights to comment on what we think would be better. I really enjoyed the Bus system. Much better than SimCity4 for the brief time I played with it (now that my PO is expired). It remind me alot of Traffic Giant in how you control the but stops and as such is much more realistic than SimCity. If their objective is the PO, they should be at E3 showing off the progress to the game and maybe showing off what they have planned to keep and spark more interested about this game. And it would also be a great venue to publish changes to their business model if the rumours are correct. Being quiet like they have been is not gonna keep or spark more interest. So this thread is perfectly valid. I guess you are 100% Happy with MC and what the game is correct? I'm glad the world isn't like you, or we would be that much more mediocre than we already are.

  13. Busses on solo mode?

As for in the beta didn't they always maintain that mass transit would be free to PO subscribers.quote> I remember them promising free buses but not further mass transit. Unfortunately they have deleted their forums and any reference, so it leaves me with no proof. The closer it got to launch, the worse the silence and overall attitude. Its why you had so many people leave the community and not buy the game. I don't care if you do or do not believe me. There are others that do remember. As noted by others its very convienent for them to delete their forums. As they came to Simtropolis and other websites asking people to join so that we could contribute ideas and so that they could discuss the game and help them improve the game. I can't imagine it cost them much to run a forum. So it just goes to show that they didn't want criticism, nor a past of what was discussed, what ideas where offered, or what they backpeddled from.
  14. Busses on solo mode?

Actually MC promised busses would be available free in solo mode. They may have back peddled from that, but i remember they said so during the beta when we complained about the lack of mass transit. It is also why there is a bus button in solo mode that does nothing. So honestly... I don't know how I feel about hacking it in. If someone did it, I probably would download it.
  15. Parks?

If you get a message in the game that any economic group wants more parks, Is the only way to please them to build the avatar park? Doesn't that get lame really fast or do green spaces when you zone residential count?
