Shame though. In a way I was looking to citiesxl2011 ( or whatever it was going to be called)

Show us your home City's skyline
Urbangamer1 replied to T-Dot Boy's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
I dont live a in a huge metropolis but I do believe that my home city of Edinburgh, Scotland which has a population of about 470k has one of the most beautiful skylines ever!!! There's not many cities that have a massive castle right in the centre dominating everything around it. They currently have 3 projects on the go but it's all very hush hush heres a link to the website if your interested >>>>> http://www.stupidfunclub.com/home.html (sorry for this being off topic)

I'm sorry for MC that PO didn't work out but I'm very happy myself. Respect to them for trying something new & different but imo city builders were never meant to be mmo(PO wasn't really ever a true mmo anyway) so now they & us can fully concentrate on making this game a good standalone single player city builder as I think the majority of people that have followed this game for years have always wanted. Now, all content can be focused on single player aspects. There doesn't need to be any worries about some players getting advantages over others due to this not being online anymore. I honestly believe that this is the best news for this game that has happened in a long time. It will now put an end to all the bitterness that happened initially after the single player part getting no content & the PO getting all of it. Great news & thankyou MC for finally seeing that city builders are not meant to be played online. I look forward to this new version of this game which will hopefully be what I've always wanted!!

Well I hope your going onto to bigger & better things & are not getting bumped off. You've actually been one of the only guys to speak to the community honestly & it's appreciated (although I guess that was your job...lol) Anyway, best of luck in the future Mathew! (PM me some juicy MC secrets please so I can see if this game is going to survive...lol!!)

lol...I love the specualtion in this place. It really makes my day reading it while drinking my morning tea!! On the holiday thing, pretty much the whole of Europe goes back to work on the 5th of January so they should have been back for a few weeks by now. I really hope for all your guys sake that bought the game that they aren't in financial trouble. They certainly shouldn't be after all these monthly subscriptions

1 reason for the increase in city numbers could be that you can pick up the game for only $30 on Impulse:stardock, which is pretty cheap!! If I could get the game for the equivalent money I would buy it today! Unfortunately, this deal is only available in North America & I'm from Scotland....
-
lol...well lets hope that is because they're way too busy creating standalone packs for the single player mode to attend

I've been quite tempted to buy this game recently. I really want a new city builder as I'm finished with SC4(I love it but I've played it far too much over the years) The real problem is CXL is the only half decent city builder about...they have no competition! I don't really even want the game...lol....I had so much disappointment after being in the beta & hearing all the lies & deception from MC. The posts above stating that one of the MC reps said we were getting buses in single player mode for free are 100% correct. I remember it clear as day as I thought this would be something that I could look forward to in the already stripped back single player version. I'm now in a quandry as I want another city builder but don't want to settle for this game. Yes it's pretty, yes it has curved roads but to be honest, it really doesn't have much else going for it. The gameplay mechanics are weird. I don't like the token system, etc.....I literally could list at least 20 things i don't like about it...lol.... I really hope you guys get buses or some form of public transport in the single player. There is no way I will ever pay

lol...liked the dig at MC for not including buses in the single player version! -
I can't believe that they still haven't sorted the market?! these problems were around from about half way through the beta (since the apparently improved market place came out) & there's still the exact same problems hanging around. That's a real shame & quite dissapointing.

Hmmmm....I can't see any of your pictures? Am i missing something -
My opinion in this matter is if they gave you a way of conquering pollution so it could be reduced enough to be able to develop offices & other industrisee that are affected by pollution then you could in theory build a completely self-sustaining city(apart from maybe agri & water supply depending on your map) This would make PO completely pointless as no-one would need to trade for anything apart from the aforementioned things. Therefore, I doubt they're will ever be anything to combat pollution & you will just have to like it or lump it.... Who knows though, this is just my opinion but I'm so un-impressed with this game & it's faults that I get frustrated just writing about it...lol... Originally posted by: Androv How about air/noise pollution from cars?quote> Yes, you get pollution from busy roads. mainly noise though I think.

Just a quick hint. always try to place your services on the biggest roads you have & preferebly ones that aren't your main through-ways aswell. Traffic affects all things in this game greatly including all services & frieght/passenger travel times that all affect your profits of your industries. Hope this helps! I don't have the game as i got really fed up with MC's lack of community involvement(among many other things with this game......that's for another thread though ) I do however have alot of knowledge from playing the beta from day one!!

If you've not played it already then don't get your hopes up. It was personally a big dissapointment to me & I was part of the beta from the start!
