Well, according to the press release last month, the next content pack (2nd) will be a chinatown theme pack. The 3rd pack will include buses and new styles of roads.

If you mean after all that though, maybe a more rural one would be nice, preferably of old Australian style. Rather that or a more mountainous/forest pack or city plaza/park pack, for making some nice city plazas and parks.

Not to mention that more mass transit will be coming after the buses.

I'm going to guess you mean after the current scheduled packs. I also am assuming that we're going to see a rather steady flow of new mega structures, mass transit options, etc. You know, the stuff we've already seen and what we know is already coming.

I definitely would like to see more theme packs based on culture, shape, or architecture themes. Especially so if they remain the same size and quality we've seen with the medieval and expect with china town.

I would also like to see more fill textures to pick from, more road textures (such as "fancy" brick roads), and more general use buildings all around (different school models, more high density models, etc.).

And in the future, I'd like to see them add more content that enhances the planet view. Give it more purpose(forming countries for bonuses or other such things) and options (hiding offline cities from view, for example).

All I want is mass transit.  I can't build the city I want without it.  My roads are clogged to heck.

yes I did, I wasn't including Mass transit and Chinatown theme pack and all that I was thinking after that, because we all ready know they are coming, I was putting it out there to see what other people wonted in the game, maybe we can come up with something different then what MC can come up with. witch may not be hard as there ideas aren’t really that imaginative   and who knows they might even roll with it.

mass transit is needed but it would also be fun to be able to set difficulty levels and we need to fix the trade system

I may be in the minority, but I'd like some buildings that make the game a bit easier.  I like to create an asthetically pleasing city, but it's so tough to get creative when you have to watch your budget like a hawk.

More functional parks, that really help environment and pollution would be nice.

Some sort of "Green Industry" headquarters office building that reduces industry pollution by 50% or so would be fantastic.

I'd like to see other buildings that help with satisfaction in the especially tricky areas.  I'd also be okay with more buildings to help generate cash to help you pay for more services or city beautification.

One more thing- I'd like something for passengers/freight that's in between the very low upkeep of a road connection, and the ridiculously high upkeep of a highway connection.  Maybe avenue connections that have 50 freight and passenger capacity, but are only 40,000 upkeep.

well I would like to have a little harder game perhaps

so I think they should add these options but add the option to get a higher difficulty level

(easy +10 income medium everything stays the same hard 10% less income very hard 20% less and hardcore 50% less)

I hope we get some better texturing on farms, so that the farmhouse isn't literally sitting on top of the field. I'd like to see some more parking lots, and smaller shops. The starter shops like the burger joint are really cool and well done, and I hope we get to see a lot more of those. I think the offices are way too big in the beginning, and should get some smaller one level office buildings. A 5 level office building looks stupid in a town of 1,000 people.

it's so tough to get creative when you have to watch your budget like a hawk.quote>

I completely agree with this.  But I wouldn't want them to make the game too easy.  I think difficulty settings for each city might be a solution.  Right now they allow you to pick your difficulty by picking which map you want.  Maps with fewer resources and poor topography are harder to succeed on.  But I would still enjoy being able to pick a difficulty level for each individual map.  This however might mess up that  other guys idea of a Hall of Fame planet where the best of the best are placed.  If one guy has a gorgeous city and does it on "SUPER EASY" settings, it wont mean as much as someone who did it on "NORMAL" settings.

I do completely agree though, that you don't have much freedom to get creative.  As I mentioned in another thread, if you do a more appealing suburb layout, you'll end up with extremely poor cashflow.  If you do a mindless "grid" layout, with everything in close proximity, you'll have awesome cashflow.  Mostly because this game bases the need for city funded schools, police, fire etc based on proximity.  Not based on population.

So whereas you may have 1,000 people in a very "spread out" area who need 3 schools, you may also have 10,000 people in 3 very dense blocks who need only one school.  In that sense, this game could be improved.  Remember, the goal is to be as close to "reality" as possible.  SimCity had this issue nailed as they based the need for schools both on Proximity and on Population.  Simply put, if the school is full at 350 students, you need to build another one.  Then again, with SimCity, you spent *all* of your time checking how many patients were in the hospital.  How many kids in each school.  Etc....

Getting creative means not going the "grid" route and therefore you're right - cashflow becomes impossible to maintain.  So creativity is reduced.

    Sorry for hijacking the thread.

They could have different difficulty levels by a per planet basis.  PO mode that is.

I'd love anything that makes this game more interesting. Theres just a lack of challenge: People get happy easily and there is no fun with transport either.

I build 1 very big city (7mil citizens) and a 'beautiful' one. Theres just no reason or fun anymore in making another city. I'd be crazy to pay for PO any longer :S

Trains would be nice! I don't see the point though of having packs of stuff we don't need, I don't think that Medieval/Chinatown packs are needed unlike other stuff (mostly transportation).

Exactly!!! Mass Transport should be in the game, but the matter for me is the lack of challenge, and I want a reason to continue playing this game in the future. Now I have lot of fun, but I can see what will happen in the future if there are not more challenge there 23.gif

I have to disagree with you there Un.  I feel they are needed just as much as transit (which we already know is coming).  The theme packs allow people to give more character to their city than you would see just using the regular building style.  To be able to add your own little china town, or create a nice country hamlet just isn't the same if you use regular buildings.

And more character, more choices and options, are always good to have.  4.gif  So though you (and many other transit advocates) might not see the need for them, some of us do and we quite enjoy them.  4.gif

I partly agree with you Rakeesh on the "themed" expansion packs- they do bring a nice element to the game and it's important to allow gamers more choices in the style of their city.

However, I don't think that should be the top priority at the moment.  "Chinatown" would make a great expansion pack #20-something... but it shouldnt' be pack #1 or #2.  I'd rather they pour everything into mass transit, GEMs, more functional buildings, better parks/environment/pollution reduction... and give us the more asthetic expansions later.

I'm glad this thread has been started as we are very interested in hearing what kind of content packs you would like to see in the game 4.gif

We know transport systems is a much requested feature and we should be able to show you a sneak preview of busses very soon! But we also believe that new buildings and other means to add diversity to your cities (such as different road models and similar eye candy) are not less important.

    So keep suggestions coming!

I'm sorry Mathew, but I've heard very soon a lot these days without anything..

Even the 'Latest News' section on the official site is a month old, from October 15th, that should be updated 2.gif

EDIT: It could be coincidence but the Latest News section is now updated (no new news)!

Welcome to the modern gaming industry.  Where everything is coming "Soon" and nothing is guaranteed.  This is nothing new, and just something you get used to.

    Back on topic-

One other thing I'd like to see, and keep seeing, is MC keep us in the loop as they've been doing.  Not just springing what's in the next content patch when it's almost on us, but keep ahead of the curve.  Giving us multiple months and keeping ahead of it.  3 months would be grand, just as it was when it all started.  It gives you something to salivate for in the long run.

    Small town pack,

    Different types of farms

    - vineyard

    - dairy (with cows )

    - apples

    - rice

    - Nuts

Vineyards can also hold high class rest restaurants and B&Bs to attract the richer parts on the community

farms with house on them (like in real life). E.g. elites live and on the farms but they still employ out side work

bigger rural property's, instead of 40x40 maybe 80x80, 40x80 and so on, or something like that

Dry stone walls and fences that can be used like roads to crate farms next to each other without having roads around each farm

Don't worry, that's to be expected since their strategy is based on maintaining interest in the new features to come (so that people keep their PO subscriptions) 9.gif So, the more we know of what's comming, the more we'd be interested.

On topic: I agree with the people that think MC should concentrade on mass transit, this is the most glaringly lacking feature right now. And critics won't shut up if at least some mass transit (say, busses and trains) doesn't appear until the end of the year. And I think we should have all major options (metros and light rail included) out the most in march - april 2010.

Apart of that, I'd like to see some more generic parks and plazas, for starters. If we can judge from the first content pack, there will be new themed plazas with every 'theme pack' (a china plaza, for example), but ti would be nice to see more varied generic structures as well.

Hey, I'm really big on those small details so what I propose is a content pack with plazas and parks with actual animations. No more of those parks with empty benches and pathways. I wouldn't take much for MC to maybe incorporate a footpath/sidewalk idea into the parks system so that you could see our citizens walking to work through a park or plaza. This would make your city seen to have more life in it. Furthermore there could be the addition of animations similar to the other ones MC have created around the other games buildings with people visiting shops and working. This could be used in parks and plazas through animations such as children playing ball and people just wandering around enjoying life the like in the parks you created for them.

Also all those seemingly empty stalls and bench's in the plazas. They seem to me to be just an afterthought by MC and would benefit so much more by animations such as people buying and selling goods and siting around the fountains on the "empty benches". This would give the game a lot more character instead of just looking at empty out of place plazas. This same idea could also be put into the woodlands areas you can create as some additional animation would go along way to making the city have as I said before character.

And just one more thing that seems to be bothering me is the fact that at night the cars lights and the street lights are off what's the point in that? It would enhance the game so much more if you could see a whole lot of red bumper lights looking down a busy stretch of road and if the street lights turned on at night to light up the road it would just make the whole in game experience so much better.

Anyway thanks MC for making great game and I just hope you keep putting out content packs and GEM's into the future.

Cheers MC for putting out a game in a genre that everyone has seemingly given up on.

The bus system did get the priority over new buildings packs, since we know mass transit is a much requested feature and we have already released the Old England content pack. Lights from lampposts, headlights and other are also something that is in the work.

Here's what I have noted regarding new content and building types you would like to see:

    - Landscape related packs (rural, forest, mountain...)

    - City beautification pack (decorations, parcs, plazas, footpaths...)

    - Sport pack (stadiums and small grounds)

    - Roady pack (service station, parking lots, dead ends, roundabouts...)

    - Green energy pack

    - Architectural packs (architecture from different countries or historical times...)

    Including:

    - More wall to wall elements

    - More variation in lot sizes

I voluntarily left aside the generic gameplay improvements and public transport related suggestions, but let me now if I missed anything 4.gif

    Hey Mathew,

Coming from CitiesXL.de (CitiesXS) I pass through some more wishes of our fans.  2.gif

    - different Lot-sizes
    - naming of streets (might come with an anounced streets-pack)
    - streets without sidewalks (might come with an anounced streets-pack)
    - a minimap (to enable)
    - more terraforming
    - unlimited trades (or at least longer terms)
    - multicore support
    - begin of custom content (custom content beta has been set up a time ago I heard?)
    - Sounds in general

So...now almoast everything should be mentioned...

Have fun while delivering it, Monte Cristo. 3.gif

PS: Hey, first post after almoast 6 years of inactivity. 9.gif

Streets without sidewalks would in effect be mini highways because they would be limited access. I do not know why you would want a low capacity AND limited access road. I personally want a suburban road with large parking strips.
