This is a current list of my Lower Manhattan BATs I'm working on or want to make-

    (In progress= working on it/ Incomplete= Haven't started/ Completed and Released=Self-explanatory)

    22 Cortlandt Street- In progress

    AT&T Long Lines Building(kinda a V2)- In progress

    Downtown Club- In progress

130 Liberty Street V2- In progress

Home Insurance Plaza- Completed and Released

    Federal Hall- Completed and Released

St. Nicholas Orthodox Greek Church V2- Completed and Released.

375 Pearl Street V2- Completed and Released

    85 West Street V3- Incompleted

    WTC7- In progress

    HSBC Bank Building- In progress

    Old Goldman Sachs HQ- Incompleted

    101 Barclay- Incompleted

    Fiterman Hall- Incompleted

    One Chase Manhattan Plaza- Incompleted

    19 Rector Street- Incompleted

    Citibank Building- Incompleted

    55 Water Street- Incompleted

Those are what I'm doing and want to do. Oh and just a reminder- If anyone needs a basic shape for a building in NY they want to do but want a basic shape then I can make you one. And I'm going to make one of the Time Warner Center if anyone wants it. My computer can't really handle something like the Time Warner Building, mainly becuase of it's size which makes alot of it's details repetetive.

The Time Warner Center sounds great, but it might have to be finished by someone with 3ds max because gmax shuts down if it has to many objects or faces. That's the problem I had with the lipstick building. Apparently the program can't handle using more than 1 GB of ram at a time.

@sten1700- Ah, 60 Wall Street slips my mind once again. Gotta remember that one...

@PBG-Hmm, I didn't think most files went of 1 GB in gmax...3.gif Thinking about stuff like that, my computer might not be able to handle larger models. I always wanted to do my own WTC, but now, my computer probably can't handle it. I'm not sure if it can handle One Chase Manhattan Plaza either....only one way to find out I guess.

Behold! 130 Liberty Street V2 is now complete! ....well, unless Kryptowhite points something out...3.gif

Well, I get a feeling I'll have to go back and re-do something. Even though I'm a perfectionist at times, sometimes something drags on too long where I wana leave it as is. All that's left for this is for Gwail to make the custom query and modding for the ploppable. Then, I have to make a gigantic american flag like the one that was put on it after 9/11 and then give to Gwail to mod it to appear every September.

Well, One Liberty Plaza is having LOD issues. When I got it into the Lot Editor it was clear I need to re-render, I'm pushing back the release date until I get the problem solved. Don't worry it will be released.

I've had this problem when I render the Solow Building and thankfully it is fixable (after a bit of hair pulling though)22.gif

Gwail, I saw your new MTA buses and I am so glad you're doing the MCI coach versions. I have been wanting them as automata for years. Looking forward to them.

Good job PBGV with 570 Lexington, although I do think the windows should be set back about a bit more to give it more of a 3D effect in game. If it's alright with you could I make a Version 2 using your model as a base? I want to add some more details and textures to it.

SimCity fan, Nice work. The only thing I would change is the nightlighting. It should be more varied in intensity. Do you have the plugin for the nightlighting mod? It adds a bit of realisim to the Maxis nightlites. Textures and the windows look very good.

Hopefully you can fix it. I fixed LOD issues quite a bit before. What's exactly happening to it?

EDIT: No I don't have any night lighting mod. Last time I did something like that, there were no night maps at all, and I had to re-install everything to fix it.

Well I agree with Hanson on the intensity of the nightwindows. You don't even need any plugins for it, all you do is select a section of windows and under the nightwindows tab change the intensity number. Its a small change but it does a lot to make it look better.

As for the day render, its pretty much perfect.

Kool! Evillions volunteers, and now you can be part of NYBT! Basically, we BAT any builidng in New York. Whether it's Manhattan, Brooklyn, or any other city in the state of New York. You can model what ever New York Building you please and can still make your non-NYBT stuff. If you want something easy, you wanna do some New York Brownstones? That's only if you want to.

Bad news about 130 LibertyV2's nightlighting= I tried to make individual windows have a different brightness, but they would go completely black instead(even if the intensity was changed to 0.9). Do ya'll think it still would be okay to release it as is?

@Evillions- Here's some random pics of some NY Brownstones that can help you get an idea of what they should look like-

Hopefully these can help you. Welcome to NYBT! 4.gif

@Aaron Graham- Thanks for the opinion. I'm still gonna wait to release it until the custom query and the ploppable is made by Gwail. I guess I can send the files to him to make the ploppable. Or I can just release it now and update it when the modded one is ready.

@Kryptowhite-Lol, it's 10:30 right now in Alex(short for Alexandria for those who don't know about my home town).3.gif

@PBG- Yea, it is odd. It didn't do this on my Alex upload- Alexandria Tower. I had it at 0.5 for some windows and they showed up fine.

Gwail- I'm gonna go ahead and upload 130 Liberty Street V2 and update the file with the ploppable with the custom query and the modded flag when you got everything ready for it.

I bought a new book tonight! It's One Thousand New York Buildings and it really has 1000 buildings. lol They're mostly small, b&w pictures, but it's giving me the names of buildings I didn't know.

Simcity4fan12 has requested that my next BAT be the City Bank-Farmers Trust Building. I'm going to do the Armed Forces Recruiting Station tonight and it will probably take like 20 min max. I've been home from VT for Thanksgiving and my mom suggested 1585 Broadway and 712 5th Ave. lol I was wondering what you guys think?

Simcity4fan12 - the lot file of the One Brooklyn Bridge wasn't the final version, the ItemOrder property wasn't set properly, sorry. I think, that I will assign to NYBT the ItemOrder at about value 120 (0x78) - for the Landmark menu. Every member will have his own number. You will have #120, the second wll have #121, next #122 and so on. The order will be taken from your signature. It guarantees (less or more - we can't own the position number), that all NYBT creations will be placed in the same menu position.

The custom query isn't the whole we can do to have uniform team image. There are still no custom icons or proper ItemOrder settings, I haven't checked the rest of properties, but usually there aren't any IVNK, IDK. But I don't insist - this is your choice, whether you want to be members of NYBT team or a bunch of creators making their work under the NYBT name. I can only guarantee, that every building given me for modding will be made in the same way, inlcuding all the properties mentioned above (NYBT custom query, icon and itemorder). The rest is up to you 4.gif.

The NYBT essentials have been just uploaded on the STEX.

That's strange, because that feature doesn't work in my GMAX (Vista rules maybe?). Any value different than 1.0 turns the nitelite off. Can you post any sample pic how does it work (when works 2.gif  )?

This is the update on my progress with GM.

It's near completion. I'm lacking textures, and mechanical floor on top and the base is incomplete too. o there is a lot to be done. Yet I have a problem. When I wanted to do a render view, gmax stopped responding. so this is the best I could do. My concern is, how will I export it when I can't even get an preview. Anyhow here's preview

I don't have much time for BATing but I see that you guys did a wonderful job 4.gif

simcity4fan12 - Downtown Club looks very nice, I'm glad to see a lot of details. Great work on Home Insurance Plaza and.... well, 130 Liberty Street is your greatest work, it's absolutely amazing.

Kryptowhite - 599 Lexington is great, especially the night version.

Jumpthefence - 69 and 72 Bayard Street both look nice, I don't know this part of the city too well, it's funny because these buildings are just a couple of streets from my supreme court 9.gif

PBGV103 - Good work on 570 Lexington, that building is very hard to make but you did a good job with it.

Aaron Graham - Transportation Building looks promising, I'm waiting to see textures 4.gif

From me... I have serious problems with bethesda terrace... the model is very big (over 2 mln polys) and I don't have enough RAM to render it. I'm going to buy more RAM in a couple of weeks and finish BT.

At now I'm working on Supreme Court, I ported the model from gmax to max and upgraded it. This is a very rough sketch

"Is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud monuments, until there will be nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. Maybe… this is the time to take a stand, to reverse the tide, so that we won't all end up in a uniform world of steel and glass boxes." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

@Vlasky- It's looking good so far! I don't know why it won't let you render it. Have you tried merging the building in a new scene?

@Seraf- That looks absolutely spectacular! I don't know what else to say except for a bunch of over used words. 3.gif Sad to hear about the terrace, hopefully you can get more RAM for it! I'm sure there is someone around that might be able to render it though.

Well I just saw Gwail's NYBT Essentials uploaded and now I got some work to do with some of my released BATs. First, I'm going to update One Brooklyn Bridge PlazaV2 with the plop he made for me. Soon I'll update the otheres maybe later today or tomorrow.

I started on a new BAT two days ago, it's a building in the Brutalist Style(My specialty 3.gif)- New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square. I'll show more pics of it when I get more work done on it.

Hmm, well we work as a team to make everything. Well its good that the modding be made the same way...but what exactly do you mean by that? Sorry, some modding talk confuses me sometimes. If it means that all the custom queries are the same, I'm fine with that.

Hey guys I had an off-the-wall idea today. It's really been bothering me that the game wants everything (airports, ect.) in a city, and even the large cities are smaller than RL small cities. Since most computers have faster processors and four times the ram of the computers back when the game came out, would it be impossible to make a mod for the game that allowed the creation of larger cities? After all, who wouldn't like to be able to work on the whole of manhattan at once?

Also, I just started on 345 Park Avenue. The gap between 570 and Seagram was bothering me a lot. Does anyone want to or know someone who would want to start on St. Bartholomew's Church? It's a famous church to the west of 570 and would sit on a 5x4 lot (5 tiles east-west and 4 north-south). It's really a beautiful church and should be done by someone eventually. I think there are a couple people on the STEX who focus on churches but I can't remeber who right now.  Maybe one of them would want to make it?

Sorry I'm focusing on that one small area of Manhattan. Most buildings are designed with their surroundings in mind, so what looks great in RL can look weird or even awful in SC4 because of the randomly grown buildings that just don't match. For instance, the architects that designed 570 Lexington purposely used the same brick as used in St. Bart's in order to keep a look of uniformity in the neighborhood. In fact, the small, often overlooked buildings in Manhattan can make a huge difference in overall apperance because they also pick up on common elements. Thats why I'm trying to focus on one area at a time.

(tiredly) Buh, how long hash it been? I wash in a threads like thish one just some times ago...

(awake) Oh, yeah, I'm finally back to the forum! Hackensack and homework, places to go, people to see, things to do, that such.

But enough of that, Chinatown Shops can be considered done. Unless I encounter a huge problem, I'm shooting for a release on Sunday, the next day I know I won't be doing too much. I was thinking of Little Italy next, namely three or so buildings around the Mott-Hester intersection (if anyone actually knows where that is).

Gwail: I like the new queries very much! I had a version from a few months ago, and it was messing with my game (the queries were all orange), so I couldn't add it to anything. But even though I haven't tested the new version, I'm confident in you. Good work!
