Should I go ahead and start the night lighting after I add the ladders on the back? Also should the final versions function as a park or just a landmark?

The HSBC Bank is in the Gmax process now. But I'm having an odd problem where the zoom 5 render looks like zoom 2 so I rendered as HQ and put it in Lot Editor for a closer pic-

    20sitqv.jpg

I haven't scaled it 133% yet and I have to add the mullions, night lighting, and roof junk. But I'm having a problem. On the side shown in the photo, there isn't any shadows casted by the pent house or the other roof peices. But it's just on that side. What's the deal?

Here's a pic of the Church compared to some building.

    a2rvwo.jpg

This is the non-w2w version. I don't know why I compared it to some brown stones. Speaking of which, I need to make some more soon...

I like the hsbc--- but it looks like it is weird on one side on if... if you look at it you'll see that it kinda goes 20 degrees more than the line on the other side.... What i'm trying to say is the roof it's not parallel... the lines are supposed to be parallel but instead they arent they're kinda one going straight and the other one going out :s

@cmdp123789- Don't worry about it. You probably thought that becuase of the first version on the STEX. It was modeled good, but was very inaccurate. As for that Citigroup Center, It was a great first BAT, however, it does need some improvement. My version(when I get more time to finish it) will actually contain the entire city block that The Citigroup Center sits on, which is 3 buildings. These buildings are the church, 880 3rd(?) Street which is W2W with it, and the Citigroup Center. The lot will most likely be 6x4 or 5x4. The tower is fully modeled, I just gotta edit textures and apply night lighting, then I have to finish its base and the 2 other buildings and that's it.

    Here! Have a picture.

    49.gif

    69bayardst4.jpg

That there would be the front of 69 Bayard Street.

So, I'm going to put some junk in the windows on street level, and maybe some junk in the upper windows. Most of all, I'll be adding roof junk. You can see some already there. It's preliminary, and a bit grey, but it'll be done! Eventually. I can tell I'll have some fun with this roof texture... I don't know why.

Random Fact: There are a lot of fire escapes on this building. Is three really nessecary?

Good work on 69 Bayard Street! Perhaps the floor plan doesn't allow access to just one fire escape and another...2 was nessecary.

@Vlasky- Patience, I'm still working on my BATs. Just time messes with me to much when I think something is almost done. Here's some progress on the Downtown Club.

    2uomdzb.jpg

I added some non basic detail to it that I was going to add in gmax but I just did it in sketchup. I don't want to add to much until gmax though, so exporting it in 3ds. won't take to long or have any problems. How's it looking guys?

599 Lexington is exported as is the subway station that goes along with it. So look for the subway station upload and the tower upload in the next few days. All thats left for me is modding and lotting which i will do right now, then sending it to gwail for the erm...whatever that thing is called 3.gif

    query.

    anyway, some test pics:

[lot hasn't been made here, neither has the subway]

Here's an update- I never quit on Home Insurance Plaza, I started over on it in sketchup. I finished the basic facade, and I'm texturing the windows and I have to finish the base and roof then it's the gmax phase.

    bi1lif.jpg

Here's one of the HSBC Bank-

    34o3fhs.jpg

Please excuse the quality, it's a LQ render. How does the mullions look? The building really has no detail at all. I'm thinking it will look better if I add a rectangle mullion around each set of windows. Ya'll think that's a good Idea?

Wow HIP and 599 Lexington are looking great! Trunight really makes a huge difference. I've been working on the Lipstick Building and it's about half way done now, so i was wondering if I could maybe send one of you screen shots to review or post them here so they can be reviewed before I release the building. I don't want a repeat of the Citigroup situation. 3.gif Thanks!

@PBGV103- You can PM me and show me photos of the progress. Since you're BATing NY buildings would you like to be part of NYBT? Of course we will have to give you some "training" in BATing and such. The Citigroup wasn't bad, the only problems with it was the white roof. You can have things white, but they usually have to be edited by alot for them to render in a good way, especially if it is placed on a spot like the Citigroup Center's roof.

Well, I would like to have you part of NYBT, but I can't just say you can join without other team members say-so(I don't think, I mean I started it but....nevermind), how about it fellas?

599 Lexington looks absolutely incredible. Only thing I'm wondering about is what are the black strips in the windows?

SimCityfan- HSBC Bank is coming along nicely though I would increase the steel beam width just a bit. Also, the textures should be a bit darker. I see if I can find something to send you.

As for my progress, One Liberty Plaza is still waiting for nightlites and is almost done but RL and an internet service disruption got in the way for the past couple of weeks. I'll try to finish it this weekend, I just want it done at this point. lol.

There are windows which do not have the shades down...i thought that i should put that in because it was a really definitive feature in the RL pics, and it makes for better day/night transitions

@Hanson784- Good to see you post here again! I'll darken them a bit and I'd appreciate you finding something to replace it.

@Kryptowhite- 599 Lexington is amazing. I don't beleive I've seen the black windows on it in RL photos, but it looks spectacular as is.

@cmdp123789- Anyone can BAT. It just takes time, patience, and practice. There are many tutorials in the omnibus that can help you out. 2.gif

@jacqulina- Thank you very much! We appreciate that comment and any you add here.

@Evillions- I've seen your BATs you BAT great! Your grimey-European building looked great and would make a great addition to our cities. How's it been going with it?

I have an update on Home Insurance Plaza- It's now in the Gmax process!

    55qrg6.jpg

I hope ya'll can see the base, I've lately been having trouble seeing dark things and it confuses me becuase I'm only 15 years old yet my vision seems to be weird even with my contacts in. Anyway- The building just needs night lighting, the window frames, more roof junk, and to be scaled 133% and it will be ready to release. I think I did a better job on it than when I tried it with gmax only.3.gif

Since I've been doing this building, I was thinking about the 2 builidings in front of it- The Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and One Chase Manhattan Plaza. I wanna BAT One Chase Manhattan Plaza, it's an awsome building and is built in one of my favorite architectural styles. I'm aware of the two all ready made but 1 more couldn't hurt, or at least I think so, what do ya'll think? As the the Fed Bank, anyone think they wanna take it on? I'm not trying to command ya'll to do it, it's just an idea in case one of ya'll need an idea for another NY building for NYBT. I just thought it would be a good idea to have these 3 BATs- Home Insurance Plaza, One Chase Manhattan Plaza, and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York all together on the STEX. I would do it, but it has an irregular shape and is in a more detailed architectural style than I'm use to. It wasn't much of a challenge to BAT the Guaranty Bank building I did, but it was small and not that complicated. Anyway just an idea.

Alright, I'm back from the darkness of too much homework!

So I've been doing some work on 69 Bayard Street and I think it's about done. Tomorrow I'll post pictures of both 69 and 72 Bayard Street. They're not nessecarily done, and they're not rendered, so I would love suggestions if you have any.

Also, should I make one more building from that intersection of Bayard/Mott, or should I upload what I have (2 buildings)? I was thinking it takes 3 or more buildings to really make a "pack", but whatever.

    34.gif

Simcity4fan12: Nice work [on Home Insurance Plaza]! That seems like a relatively simple building, and I like what you've done with it! I especially like how the windows near the bottom are (realistically) darker than the higher ones. Y'know, reflections and everything.

Kryptowhite: Wow... especially the upper roof, that's cool. Keep up the good work!

Hanson784: Sounds good, can't wait for a picture if you have any!

So, since gmax can't deal with large rounded buildings, aka 885 3rd Avenue, I thought I might look into getting 3ds max... 6.gif $4000!!!??? I bought finale 2009 last year to write music, and it was only $500! Is 3ds max licensed for an entire architecture firm or something? I don't know how you guys can justify spending that much.  3.gif Anyway, if anyone has 3ds max and wants to export the lipstick building for me... 4.gif

Tomorrow I'll post pictures of both 69 and 72 Bayard Street.

    quote>

    And here they are!

    chinatown2.jpg

The one on top, the pink one, is 69 Bayard Street. The other is 72 Bayard Street.

I'm really happy with 69 Bayard Street. All the extra time spent really paid off, especially on textures. On the other hand, 72 Bayard looks really... unfinished. I'm not liking the roof texture or the roof junk. I think I'll completely scrap it and start fresh. The wall textures also look to bright and not gritty enough. I am happy with the street level though, so that doesn't leave much at all.

    - Smaller and more roof junk

    - New, darker, less contrasting roof texture

    - New set of wall textures

Any other suggestions before I get to work?

Postscript: What do you think, should I upload these two buildings to the STEX, or make another and call it a 'pack'?
