    dusk is right.
but the main reason is because i have improved with gmax and i model a lot more detail on my buildings, which takes a long time. i also choose difficult, untraditional styles such as Calatrava, Gehry (the guggenheim which i'll restart), Utzon (Opera House) and now the louvre which has too much detail, ie statues, that will take me longer than expected. I'm at school right now, but i began rendering the footbridge this morning, so when i get home it should be on the bex, in about 45 minutes.
also, i can oly model a bit on the opera house before it has to close. all i have to do is the railing and the lighting.

    Before what has to close?

I'll be looking forward to seeing it on the STEX, but don't rush. I have all the time in the world.<ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/1.gif>

before gmax/bat has to close because of an error, i can still export and render the model without a problem.
well it looks like the footbridge won't make it today. does anyone know why this happens after i exported?
    /idealbb/files/crap1.jpg

it has happened several times already and i have changed the lods several times before rendering with other buildings.

JEC.... I had this same problem with renders. Maxis wrote a fix script but it didn't help. Finally went back to my old pc and Win98. I normally use a DELL that started with WinME and then upgraded to Win XP home so it's a mixed operating system. RalphaelNinja & phillippbo suggested that you select your model - export it - open a new file - import the saved model - save it again. Start a new file and open your model - don't preview... just render so that you've eliminated the corrupt camera setup. This worked once but never after downloading the Maxis script fix. Uninstalled the Maxis script but that didn't fix things.

This problem has nothing to do with your models or the LODS. I also tried a variety of video drivers.... nothing worked. 100% of my renders ended up with that problem. Plus, DM's FiSHman won't run on this pc either. I was almost desperate enought to buy a new pc.. <ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/6.gif>

    Good Luck..

thanks for the advice. it didn't help the rendering problem, but i did manage to revive two files that i will be able to continue modeling on and actually export without a problem.
and i guess there is no point to download the update on the official site since it doesn't work. oh well, i really don't want to remodel the footbridge though. <ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/8.gif><ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/14.gif>

coachpotato, the maxis script actually worked, for a test on draft. so, i am exporting on high right now and it should work. just to let everyone know, the lot will use oppie's canal set because it doesn't work right over water.
le Louvre has statues everywhere, and it is taking me a while to try to make a decent model that would look good on the closest zoom. i can just copy every other part of the building, but until i make a good, low-poly statue, i'll begin a new building. since this topic was started for Calatrava's work, i will make the Ciudad de Artes y Ciencias in Valencia, which includes several buildings. he is the best picture ic ould find that shows several of the buildings in the complex.

i can't get the night lighting correct fot the Sydney Opera House, i was planning on exporting it tomorrow, but the nightlighting is messing up my schedule.

jtportland wanted to know where i was with the guggenheim in bilbao. its not much, and usually i don't show an area of the building where the model isn't complete, but here it is anyway.

Duck Trooper, what is underlined. Bilbao or New York? I think you might want to read the post in front of you first.<ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/25.gif>

*Laughs about what he just said*

That is a start JEC. Though from the pictures I have seen this will be one of the hardest BATs yet.

One question- how are you going to emulate the texture effect of the museum? the panels and such? That would be quite a job!

Figured you'd wanna see this pic. (took it myself a while ago). You're probably going to have to tone down the white on the shells (maybe a bit of an off-white would work? after all, up close that's what they are.

EDIT: Cool, I just noticed I'm now a commoner. <ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/16.gif>

the other one project is the Ciudad de Artes y Ciencias.
the opera house renders lighter than in gmax as well, but i have a pretty good tile texture for the roof now (if you look at the real roof, you would see how detailed it is).
also dusktrooper, you can read. i edited the city name in after your post; i just wanted to see what people would say.

edit: i deleted the picture since the one below is better

i can't seem to bend the exhibition sign properly. and the transparent texture doesn't get any brighter. there is still more to do on the entrance sign, but what i have so far sort of irritates me. does anyone know why?
