Hey there all, been playing SC4 for about 6 months...

My largest region is called Agulhara and it has a region pop of 1.2 million ppl, spread out in 4 medium tiles, with one tile having 600k, one having about 200-300k, the other having 100k and another one having 100k...all of which are supplied by two small tiles for hi tech industry, and another small tile for I-D, and I-M...as you may well gues, demand for industry in the 600 k city is huge...

I was also working on the New York region, made by Maxis, and I got up to about 800K.

Nice!  I've got about 200K in Waikato, 100K in Manapouri and 100K in Twizel.  Only been playing for a week, though, after a year long break.

EDIT: Whoops, I guess I'm so new I mixed up a segment with a region.  Each of those is just a single city, not a whole region.  4.gif

I think I got either 3.1 or 3.2 million in my largest city.

The population of my region is about 18 million, with the census repository stating it could grow to as much as 46 million with continued expansion.

Still small compared to other large cities, but would you rather have a city of 10 million that looks like crap (all repetitive buildings, little greenspace or infrastructure) or a dense city of 1-3 million that looks good? (room for greenspace, public areas, very little or no building repetition, good, creative infrastructure, etc.)

I'm not much of a fan for big cities because it's hard to upgrade roads and highways, but I do make some decently sized regions. My current region has 38k people. It's an island ragion is pretty densely populated. My largest region was Timbuktu with over 250k people. I usually get bored with my regions before I can get a big city going.

Lol exactly. I hate those damn tower spam cities, its very unpractical and unrealistic :/

As for the "census repositroy" wtf is that and how does it know what your max region size is ?   I thought given enough space and editing your region to be bigger in paint you could have any region size/population you want 9.gif

I've been working on the New York region provided by Maxis for about a year now. I'm about 20,000 away from 1 million sims, which is a first for me. I have 2 big cities, one with 250,000k and another with about 160,000k, and growing fast. The cities surrounding those are pretty big also, ranging from 80,000 to 30,000. I don't know how people here manage to squeeze 2 million people or w/e into 2-4 tiles. That's outrageous! I'm sure traffic and pollution is horrible.

My region.

about 3 million inhabitants

not finished as you can see

all streets are handmade, i hate those prefab grid streets

lots of parks and stuff

CJ coming in ehh... 5000 years :P

i have been playing this region for a year now and i only have this....

the downtown you see at the lake will be connected with the second downtown of the twin city near the delta by green sprawling suburbs

industry will be in the northwest and northeast of the lake and at the southcoast at the port between the two rivers

1701adguru, could you take a screenshot of Western MA?I happen to live there 9.gif

On the other hand, I only work on 1 region because I stink at SC4 really, really badly. It's called Garlinga and it has a population of 112,000 people.Yeah I know. It stinks.

It's kind of depressing to hear about people building 1 region for a whole year, but that's SC4 you; one massive time sink that you will NEVER get out of 2.gif

My largest region was only about 350K (9 medium tiles, mostly suburbs+farmland). It's one of my oldest and was started when I hadn't really figured out my playing style yet. I scrapped it about a month ago to start trying out different styles of play and have just about got it figured out... but my latest region I plan to continue for a long time!
