The library looks great. I thought when I saw it that it would look good as a university library, then I clicked the link and saw that's exactly what it is! It makes sense. University libraries tend to be bigger than normal city libraries. I look forward to using it in game.

Grand Kamelia looks like a special BAT too! I recently grabbed your last set, and if those are anything to go by then this will be even more spectacular.

I don't know how this happened, but I haven't looked in your thread since you've posted Book Tower and the Grand Kamelia.

It looks like the architect of Book Tower has quite a history.  I guess he established a school (that would eventually become the bauhaus), and was involved in the german werkbund, while both of these things were focused on the arts and crafts movement.  It looks like he had a big part in art nouveau too.  Henry van de Velde

Based on your current progress on the Grand Kamelia, I thought it was built in the 1930s, but I googled it, and it's actually a new building, which I think is dissapointing, lol, but it will be a good BAT one way or the other.

-Amthaak: Thanks mon ami, I also can't wait. 5.gif

-Todd: Happy to hear that you like the new projects my dear friend. 3.gif The Boekentoren will be a real challenge for me.

    -io_bg: Thanks mate. 2.gif

-TWrecks: My dear TWrecks, be quiet, I still need you very much, so I don't wanna kill you immediately. 9.gif18.gif ...Best Regards!

-Psander5: Thanks for stoping here & thanks for clarifying what I forgot to say about the Boekentoren19.gif

-mntoes, mcarch, tcxalapa: Thank you very much guys. 4.gif

-Jasoncw: It's nice you have taken the time to stop by and leave a few words, always appreciated. 29.gif If you study architecture, Henry van de Velde should not be a stranger to you. And I share your opinion on the Grand Kamelia, the real project is not terribly nice but as I have the FloorPlans, I told myself it would be funny. 18.gif

15 days that I havn't touched the BAT, too much work. But today in the train I saw one building and started to build it.

    Yellow Blox:

    Work in progress!

The way I managed the LODs, It's possible to park cars under the recesses(don't no if this is the right word) on each side.

The new model looks great. You really seem to develop a market niche, and I like it.

I am not sure about the posts on ground floor, though. As thin as they are, they could not carry the weight of the structure above them. Not that that would be necessary in the first place, since such a compact building could afford some overhanging parts without supports to them (this, at least, relates to the right wall of the building). I was thinking something like "would an architect of a mid-market residential get such a design choice sold to the developer"? With regard to this, I think the posts are rather not realistic.

Unless ... this is a true recreation of a real life building, the real building has really these thin poles, and I would just have talked myself into nowhere ... in that case I would retreat to saying: It looks great, keep it up.

Looking really good so far. My only concern is that the walls are too green. I selected the yellows in your image in photoshop and shifted the hue to something more orange/red, something between 5 to10 looked nice (not sure how much that translates to for the bitmap itself or the output in MAX, but you get the idea). Saturation looks beautiful though, its a great little building.

    Awesome little building 4.gif!

I have to agree about the fact that it's wall texture stands out too much though.

But anyway i bet that it will be another wonderful building by yours!

The picture with the car parked under the building is amazing!

EDIT: oh, i didn't look at your new avatar picture, but it's really nice 1.gif!

Personally, I don't mind the colour that much, even though I have to admit that it reminds of a certain body fluid. 3.gif

I could imagine this building in many colours, and it will certainly be another nice and much-needed addition to the game. The car parked under the building is a great detail!

By the way, Del, I forgot to mention that I like your new avatar picture! 17.gif

    Hello...  Wink

long time since I posted anything here. Really, I don't have time to work on these projects for at least 6 months. Cry To be honest, I'm feeling like this chained's chair photographed in Berlin in 2010.  Cheesy

    berlin01.jpg

I am a bit lost in all this mess.  Roll Eyes But I finally have the opportunity to make some progress in some projects  Mmmm...

Montevideo... work in progress on textures!

    montevideonewa01.jpg

Textures are provisional but I want your advice before proceeding in this direction!!!  Wink I feel that the textures are too saturated, Instead, everything is too illuminated. What do you think???

    Ingame Photoshoping... Smiley

    I use last SimFox's Bat4Max on 3dsMax2010

    It's delecto! 1.gif

I think the materials look pretty good, the saturation on the red(plaster?) is actually quite nice. The one that needs the most work is definitely the pale beige. It is too uniform, plastic, and sterile. Obviously, this is meant to be a "new" building, but it really doesn't interact with its environment and therefore look like it is part of the world in which it exists. Since you obviously don't want to dirty the whole thing up (like I would do 3.gif ), you can try adding a ground plane (set invisible to camera) to give a little variation at the bottom of the wall (particularly the stark short side in your photoshopped image). You might also try adding some kind of detail to that side to make it seem less sterile... Or you could add dirt, but that wouldn't be too easy.

    Nice to see you back!

    Well, it's been a while since I haven't come here. o.O

Still my damn job that takes me too much time, but the season ends slowly and I will be able to return to all these projects.

I work on the textures of my BATs at this time, no updates right now because I am not satisfied with the result :noway: but you can expect a massive update soon.

Reinstalled 3DSMAX on my laptop to work a little during my long trips.

I was in Berlin for one month and started two drafts of a project close to my heart, real challange for me but I hope to do well.

    Holocaust_Monument_Berlin

Long Long way to go... :boggle: the difficulty is that the ground isn't flat, it's difficult to find a way to make it properly.

This on, it's been a long time I want to give it a try. Brilliant piece of architecture.

    See you soon...

You've got a nice choice of buildings there. :)

For the monument, it would probably be better to figure out how many different kinds of blocks there are, and export them separately and put them together in the lot editor. This way the blocks will be able to conform to the terrain in the game, and at the same time the file size won't be massive like it would be if you exported them all together. It's hard to tell how many unique blocks there are, at first glance it looks like most of them are unique to each other, but maybe that's just because of careful placement and terrain. If you have to export it all as one piece that would be fine too just the filesize would be big.

Coincidentally I was just watching interviews with Holocaust survivors yesterday on youtube.
