I just stumbled upon this thread and wanted to leave a drive-by compliment, as delecto your bats are excellent and the lots by twrecks do them perfect justice. Congratulations for a wonderful collaboration, and delecto it is great to see you BATting these lower-density buildings, there is a real need for them.

Thanks everybody. 4.gif

Just to keep you guys (& gals?) up to date, I meanwhile started on the lots with 3 BATs each (mix of diagonal and orthogonal) and finished about 50%. Afterwards I'll make some with 4 BATs that involve diagonal buildings, and then perhaps one or two conventional lots with only one building each.

Due to RL, all in all I'd say a release by November should be possible, probably middle to 2nd half of November.

Thank you all for your nice comments, you will not have to wait a long time, promised. 18.gif

I finally succeeded in obtaining descent night render.

Wow, superb night lights! 4.gif At least all the hassle and all the effort paid off eventually.

Ok, in the meantime I have been making some new lots; I haven't shown them all yet. On Monday evening, I'll be gone for a little vacation, but I might have a chance to download the final versions before. Then, when I come back from my vacation, I should be able to piece everything together. This way, they might indeed be ready for release towards the end of November, if everything goes to plan. Maybe I'll be able to post some more pictures before I take off... 2.gif

    these are great!

But imho there is a little problem with them... the blue part is well, too blue... I mean it is too clean, 16 color MS Paintshop like color. It is way to intense and pure to be realistic, especially given that you managed to dirty up rest of the building.

Also lighting (both day and night) aren't really in line with the game. It is absolutely color neutral. Your shadows have no blue in the them what so ever and your sunny side hasn't got any warmth either.Night views are light absolutely omnidirectional that eats away the building shape. And again is totally color neutral that isn't right.

But these are details that shouldn't be too difficult to fix would you choose to do so.

As for the night lighting... I wouldn't really use actual lights to light something like that. self illuminated textures in the windows would give you far more control, faster render time and possibly variety and realism. Although for such a small building render time prolly aren't of the essence...

Thank you to be stopped  here SimFox, and to express me your enlightened opinions.

Mmmh... about self illuminated materiel for the Windows, believe me, I tried everything and the only obtained result was bad, zero, catastrophic. 14.gif ...In brief a true disaster. I hate this option (at least in 3dsmax7).

    I made a small experiment:

Normal render, no logarithmic exposure + no Gamma correction.

    atestnitenormal.jpg

logarithmic exposure ON (setup as you suggest in your Forces of light and the geometriy of shadows last page) + no Gamma correction

    atestniteloganogamma.jpg

logarithmic exposure ON + Gamma correction ON ( input 1.5, outpout 1.0 )

    atestnitelogagamma.jpg

Do you think that the last option is the best???

I am a little bit lost when I enter these regulations and the screen of my MacBook is very blue, not necessarily very neutral.

    Thank's for your help. 4.gif

Kelly - thank you, what wants to say blind? 42.gif

Holy cow!! 6.gif Just how big is that in SimCity tiles? It might be a tad too large to handle, but otherwise it looks perfect, no doubt about that.

As for the Pearl Residentials, I am going to assemble the prop families and do the modding tomorrow, then some more lots. If we are lucky, I might be done on Sunday, but I cannot promise anything. It might taka a few days longer. However, you can all rest assured that the project is being taken care of, and that it will be released on the STEX.

That last model is... wow! I hope that it is able to grow or a reward or I will be disappointed. I only plop utilities in my current SC4 experiment. I can't wait for the release of your creations.

Ok, here's the current project status:

    • All required prop and building families have been made using IIDs from a range that had been assigned to me quite a while ago. This should help to prevent conflicts.
    •  All lots have been updated to feature the final building models.
    • Stats & values have been modded.
    • You will get:

      - one lot with a single orthogonal building on it (differently coloured versions will appear randomly)

      - two corner lots with a single diagonal building each (differently coloured versions will appear randomly)

      - three lots with two buildings each

      - three lots with three buildings each

      - five lots with four buildings each

    • This makes for eleven lots in total; all multi-building lots will be mildly slope-tolerant, i.e. you won't see ugly building foundations running over the lot. However, it's recommended to use only smoothly inclined terrain; the lots will look odd when extending over jagged edges
    • Files have been properly named and packaged
All in all, only screenshots and a description is missing. I won't have any time today, though, because I'm going to a concert directly after work. However, this release is 98% finished and bound to arrive at a STEX near you very soon! 4.gif

Oh, and the dependency count has remained at 2: The BSC Mega Textures Pack 1, and Cycledogg's Mega Prop Pack Vol.1. For a package of fourteen lots, I guess that's quite ok.

-Dear TWrecks, I can only thank you for the excellent work which you supply, I did not expected that you make all this. 29.gif

And the dependency count is going to please a lot of people!

Concerning the last monster, Grand Kamelia, he is 268m length, 50m wide and 30m height or approximately 17x4 simcity tiles. Not sure that it's possible to have a growable lot this size, although with the PIMX? Maybe! 34.gif

    Have a nice concert! 44.gif

-Thanks to all the others for your nice comments, some updates to come these next days.

Technically it's possible without the slightest doubt.... piece of cake. You don't even need PIM-X. The regular tools can be used as well. The problem is that bigger lots are more susceptible to crime, and that there is a prop count limit per lot... and of course, the bigger the open surface, the more props tend to be required. That's why I was wondering whether the result might be too large to handle in a practical way. After all, not everything that's technically possible is really convenient to use. 2.gif

However, if you split this block into the two L-shaped outer parts and the U-shaped inner part, pretty much the same configuration as shown on your picture would still be possible... not to mention many others!

    As you can see here...

    pearlgame.jpg

...the lots work well and grow very easily. 4.gif

I currently work over again the render cause as SimFox mentioned, there are minor problems with the Light-Rig which I used. That does not will take long ( + finish the Readme and take some pictures ) and you can hope to find them on the STEX at the end of this week. 19.gif

About the Grand Kamelia, thank you for the infos on large growable lots. I have a small idea on how to manage this one but I must make some tests, I will talk to you later about it.

SimHoTToDDy: well i'm not Bixel but will try to not disappoint you, thank's for the supports! 9.gif

Jacqulina & Gn_Leugim: thank you for your nice words.

Wow these look fantastic! The trees really add some contrast to all the gray condos. In what size do they grow? 4x4? And how much residents will one building occupy?

    Fantastic work once again!
