This is a 'Show Us Your X' thread where you may showcase your Government buildings, be it the town hall, the courthouse, the congress, etc. Heres mine, an island containing the buildings of a tricameral Parliament (or Congress, as you see fit): saobrasaug1645123483956ja8.png

I do note that the parliament is tricameral. The Reichstag serves as the Middle House, and the San Fran City Hall as the Lower House.

A zoomed-out shot of the 'Parliament Island' (I haven't named it).

Do note that there is a statue of Napoleon behind the upper house, used to serve as a memorial of some sort. IMO, I think there aren't enough gov't buildings on the STEX...the Great Hall and Reichstag are rather common. And, I am shocked that only the Peace Tower has been made/BATed, and not the rest of my beloved Canadian Parliament! Hehe. Sadly, I cant BAT 15.gif

neat Idea but it would be nice if you would make some other small buildings on the island too and if you do something else to you're gov buildings show it to me because I'd be intrested.

Oh. Yeah I tried to do that with the Radcliffe Camera and Main Library, but anythign mroe would ruin the 'fancy island' effect.

I wanted to see what buildings people like to use for their government districts.

I am looking primarily for Greek/roman/American style buildings, and they can actually serve as museum, schools, rewards... I'm just looking for the right look to build my own Washington DC (sorta).

    Thanks!

If you want to go with traditional DC museum and government style buildings, Classical(Greek/Roman) would be the way to go. The designers of the older buildings did that deliberately as they wanted a comparison to Rome. Newer ones even there tend to have a great variety of styles, so pretty much anything(and I mean anything) would go.

If I'm not mistaken, the San Fransisco City Hall is on the official Sim City 4 site, along with some other cool buildings.

And just off the top of my head another building I think would suit your needs, the "Dobruk City Hall" - it's on the STEX, uploaded by Equinox.

nmopal was that intended to look like anything in particular?  It kind of reminds me of the cities in old final fantasy games 4.gif

I really love just making the most of 'vanilla.' So here is my most recent Gov't Quarter with no cheats or custom content (except NAM).

    gvt1-4-1.jpg

I put the stadiums, convention center, and bureau of bureaucracy in the middle of a big commercial area to maximize the positive commercial effects and avoid the negative residential effects.  I like to 'clump' the city hall, court house, stock exchange, and bur. bur. - I just think they just go together.   The main library fits well with them too, and it's a nice transition to the opera house and museum - which also seem logical to place near the convention center 2.gif  Of course a police station, parking garage and bus station fit in well too.  It's almost all medium density at the moment.  I like to preserve the view of the stadiums by placing the civic buildings 'in front of' the stadiums' so that no tall buildings ruin my view.  I'll zone high density 'behind' the stadiums to create a skyline behind my civics and stadiums.

I've simply accepted that there isn't much parking in the Simiverse, and some of the retaining walls are weird.

In Taraville, the Capital of Syldav in Eastern Balboa, was built over a 8-year period after Syldav Island was unified.

    Shozhod-- Capital of Bordav

Shozhod--the capital of Bordav and the largest city in Syldav Island--is located near the east coast of the island. The city grew into its wealth in the 1800s as the manufacturing hub of Syldav Island.

William Gwin, the first President of Bordav, built the Parliament in 1867.

The Grand Palace with the "Penta-tower" behind it. The main gouvernment building of Phoenixia.

It lies on an artificial island and you can see the 'bastions' giving it the appearance of a fortress; the strong gouvernment. Because it's on sea-level, a dyke has been made to protect it from flooding every high tide...
