There is a point system for franchise dominance. Based on # of playoff apperances, Play off wins, championships, and Super bowl Wins and Apperances.

That is based games played after the merger AFL/NFL

Currently the cowboys are ahead of the steelers by 4 points. moslty due to the 20+ years playoff run and 8 Super Bowl apperances.

Looks like Dan Reeves stay with the cowboys lasted 2 days.

According to a radio  report today at 5PM.

Looks like Reeves thought he would  be working as a sort of co-GM.

Mr Jones wanted him as part of the coaching staff.

Is Jerry Jones turning into Al Davis?

Oh god I certainly hope that Jerry Jones doesn't turn into Al Davis. He seems reasonably competent still but I do worry, because he seems like one of those types that just hangs on and doesn't know when to quit.

I really am curious as to what the sticker in the Reeves deal was that caused it to go up in smoke.

Also, thank goodness for the new thread 4.gif

Good news for Chicago Bears fans... as of 11:01 pm local time this evening, Rex Grossman is no longer a Bear **the football fans in town give collective cheer**.

Albert Haynesworth gets 100 mil and Deangelo Hall gets 50 mil, both to the Skins...I thought they already tried this strategy of buying out the entire free-agent market at the begining of the decade and found that it failed miserably. I hope it fails miserably again. Dang Redskins...

John Kitna Cowboys new back up QB.

Traded for Antony Henry to the lions.

They also pick up a verten LB Keith Brooking from the Falcons and lost Chris Canty to the Giants.

Brooking seem to me just another Zack Thomas, Good but at end of career.

I really do not like the odds of those NFL players being found. In most cases like this, the bodies are never found. I don't want to sound nitpicky and heartless but I dislike how this has gotten all this national attention, appearing on the front page and headlines of prominent media outlets like CNN. It is very tragic when someone is lost in an accident like this, but why does the media feel the need to devote all this extra attention to this case. I guess I do not understand the public's fascination with celebrities in general...I could care less about what Paris Hilton did or the name of Brangelina's latest adopted kid...sorry for the rant...

On a completely different note, you guys should read Peter King's Monday Morning Quarterback article. It reports on, amoung other interesting things, the true nature of Albert Haynesworth's 100 million dollar contract which is actually only a 48 million dollar contract. It's a good read.

Ray Lewis resigns with the Ravens...amazing how he is done with Baltimore until he realizes they are the only ones willing to give him any money...I do have to say, after looking at his stats last year, he is definitely still one of the leagues elite players. 160 takles, 3.5 sacks and 3 interceptions seems to be what I remember them being, which in any case is very good. I wonder how he will do on this new contract, getting older and dealing with the deterioration of talent on the defensive side of the ball with players like Bart Scott and coaches like Rex Ryan departing.

Patriots, you gotta end your boycott and get some posts in here so we can start talking about the draft and stuff. The Patriots look to be in really good shape with all those second rounders the have this year, although I feel like they could have gotten a good deal more for that Matt Cassel, Mike Vrabel trade.

Ugh...I really do not agree with the Cowboys action in cutting Terrell Owens. He was most certainly a distraction to the team, but he was not the sole problem behind the discontent in the locker room last year. He has proven that he can be a good/ decent teamate in past years as evidenced by '07 and the first year with the Eagles. He is a fierce competitor who can always be counted on in the game. The rate of passes he drops may be rather bad, but no one can ever question T.O's heart. You know he gives it on every play. The media never made much light of this, but Terrell Owens is one of those recievers that goes down the field every play to make blocks for his teamates.

On one of Felix Jone's long touchdown runs early in the season, Terrell Owens was running with him, matching him stride for stride and lays out a bone crunching block on the last line of defense, clearing the way for Felix into the end zone. The simple fact of the matter is, Terrell Owens has heart. He gives it all when it comes time to play the game. He is a competitor.

Off the field is obviously a different matter. For all of his talent and effort, he sure does cause some headaches in the locker room. However, I feel that the media perpetuates the problem by zooming in on him, aiming a massive spotlight upon him, trying to interpret everything he does in a negative manner. Part of that is because of T.O's drawing power in the media, and part of that is the Cowboy's drawing power in the media. This is can easily be confirmed when on the front page of CNN is a news article on Terrell Owens being cut. The massive attention from the media, I feel, causes more problems than T.O. himself. Case to point: would anyone care what some bench warmer has to say about his alleged problems. No. Perhaps the local media, but there surely is not going to be national media swooping in to get the latest scoop on the bench warmer's grievances...

Finally, I would like to say that I wholeheartedly disagree with the cutting of Terrell Owens because of the massive cap hit the Cowboys are taking. By cutting him, the Cowboys have created over 9 million dollars in dead cap space. That is money that cant be used. Other teams enjoy $127 million salary caps. The Cowboys, by cutting Terrell Owens have essentially reduced their cap by 9 million to 118 million. And that is not even including their decisions to cut backup quarterback Brad Johnson, trade cornerback Anthony Henery ( thus having the cowboys pay all of his priorated signing bonus in this years cap), and cut safety Roy Williams...It just isn't smart money use in my opinion. Partly due to the Cowboy's good tendency to resign iand reward ts homegrown players, and partly because of its poor decisions this offseason, the Cowboys are the owners of one of the worst salary cap situations in the NFL. They are going to have a difficult time signing all their rookies after the draft because of this and it has severely inhibited their ability to be active in the free-agent market.

Alas, what is done is done. Hopefully the old subtraction theory will work for the Cowboys and they will get better, but I suspect we will look more like the Giants last year without their playmaker Plaxico Burress. Roy Williams is just not Terrell Owens. He doesn't have Owen's speed, strength, or history of production. He is still a solid reciever that can be a number one reciever, but he is one who faces big shoes to fill.

TO Owens Stats for last 20 games

averaging 4 catches for 53 yards/game. We can get that from Crayton.

I think hes done, i dont see any team picking him up, at least not for what he thinks hes worth.

Tory Holt  was cut by St Loius.

    Marvin Harrison still unclaimed.

Id rather have either of those guys then TO to be honest.

The  locker room issues  we have seen from  3 teams he has been on, hes not going to become a team player, Good riddance.

We got rid of another failed pick today too, Roy Willaims, who after the horse collar rule pretty much became useless.

Cuting those 2 created 1.5M in cap space, think holt or harrison might become a cowboy for that + incentives?

I am pretty sure Marvin Harrison is done with football. He hasn't shown the desire to give everything to football as much in recent years. I suspect that unless he gets an absurd contract, he is not going to want to come out to play on his rickety knees. He has made close to $100 million in his career, so the veterans minimum on a new team probably just does not sound very apealing to him.

I would not say that Roy Williams was a failed pick. He was once considered one of the very best safeties in the league. His stats were prolific and his impact on the game was undeniable. He did, afterall, get a rule created for him. I would say it was his second contract that was bad.

lol. I think that Trent Edwards will be the worst quarterback he has ever played with. No offense to Edwards, he does have the physical tools to be successful in this league, but I don't think he is in the same league as quarterbacks like McNabb, Romo, or Garcia in his prime. And the man is extremely injury prone...I don't think he completed a single season in college without missing games because of injuries. Not trying to bash Edwards or anything...

Check out the newest Cowboy, some dude named Igor...lol. The Cowboy's website has this aweful picture of him with his tongue hanging out while he takes a breather. He looks like he will be a solid replacement for Cris Canty.

He isn't the same running back that he once was, but he is still a decent back who probably isn't worth 6 million but should be retained just so he can retire with the Chargers. I thought it was a shame when a certain Cowboys running back went to the Cardinals to play out two more seasons.
