Are you starting to overcome your computer problems? When can we expect the final updates? It would be sad if this wonderful CJ ends this way.

I had to re-install windows...what a bummer with all that stuff that I have on the hard-drive.

Anyways, the problem now is that I cannot enter my saved games, even after re-installing the game. I haven't figured out how yet, but hopefully I will be able to, sinc4 the three most important games I would like to keep and continue (these are Nexis of Genesis, Lavender and  Norland for the Istrinian CJ).

If I cannot open these games anymore, I will simply just continue the story of Genesis with some older pictures that I haven't shown yet and maybe with paint I will be able to make look decently enough to upload and end the story with dignity. I think that Lavender and Norland ,I will have to simply start all over again.....omg.
Give me anothern 2 weeks or so and I will be back.2.gif Thanks for understanding.

try reinstalling your plugins, did you back up your program files and my documents plugins, try using datgen, in the expemplar folder there are some files that say what buildings are being used in the city, use that to find those files in a plugin backup, and find some on the stex, this might make it so some, or all of the cities are stable enough to work on and find other files.

I am working on this superchad. You see what happened is this: Once I had to reinstall windows I wasn't able to get into the Mydocument files anymore, to save and back up the pluginfiles. The game, the saved regions and all the modfiles are on drive D:/, where the virus couldn't go and do damage. So the games are all saved in the right place and are not damaged, but the thing is that the 9,000 or so files that were in the pluginfolder in mydocs......are......*gone with the wind* ....Doah!

You get to slowly see the problem now? ....lol
I have to find out now what I had as lots ,BATs,props and textures in my Cities (omg, that's a lifetime job) and re-unzip them (one by one) again into the mydoc/plugin folder (C:/drive), so that the region can be opened and played with normally.
Luckily I have ALL the files that I ever downloaded (in zippedform) on drive F:/ available and ready to use again, which saves me years (or so) to download all this stuff again with my 56K connection that often acts like a 28K one....lol
    Get it now?

I hope it will go relatively well and by the end of the month I will be able to have at least a small update.
Lavender region though is completely *kaputt* I think, since it didn't have any lots yet built. But I simply don't know why I can't open the region. It just crashes the game.

Wish me luck and mostly patience.....lol...
From now on I will keep an exact copy of Mydocs/Simcity/plugin folder on the F:/ drive.

Its good that you don't have to re-download the plugins, but it still means that I have to wait, and the other CJs that I like all seem to be stalling so I don't have much to do here...

    Confusing?....lol.....I am lost......lol

I don't even know if I will be able to continue this story or any other on Simtropolis. I have to learn how to post , upload pictures etc first and that could take weeks.................

Now to Nexis of Genesis. I don't think that I will be able to continue this story or even end it with style. First I have lost every pluginfile and I had something like 4000 I think and then this new site is driving me nuts. I have to learn everything all over again and at my age that is slow.

Now everytime that I open the region of Genesis, even after one month of uploading, the whole game just collapses on me as soon as I open one of the bigger Cities. Probably missing files. But which ones? There are so many of them.

So, I am asking myself seriously, is it worthwhile the efford without even knowing for sure if it will work after, or should I just concentrate myself on Lavender now?

he could probably use datgen, open it and look at the exemplars and see what the files are, or wait till there is a program that can check for dependencys and list them

I don't think you can upload pictures on simtropolis anymore. Use an image hosting site and upload them there, such as http://www.imgcity.net. To put the image into the update, use the line that has the at the beginning and end of the text.

Would placing all the files in you plugins foldier fix the problems?

Well, mrbisonm, I think that Genesis should get a good end...

And Lavender? I'm sure your second CJ is great, but I only say I would like to see an ending here..

You're right sloppet, this CJ needs an ending before it ends up sleeping for ever. One thing though, I will not be able to continue to add many pictures, if any at all,for two reasons. With my connection of 28,888 to the internet, most picture hosting servers do not except this speed and therefore leave me without the possibility to upload pics to these servers, unless I make them smaller than 150 pixs. Simtropolis used to accept that speed, although sometimes it took me more than 20 minutes to upload 8 pictures of 640x480. It was possible, but now with the new ST, picture uploading is not possible anymore and there probably it will be the end of my CJ's. (maybe even all three of them).

Then the second problem is the game itself. With so many files missing , and I have no idea which ones, the region always crashes on me and that of course looses my interests of trying to find out which files I need for that specific City. I had more than 4000 files (or was it 6000?) and now I have only 2,500 re-downloaded. But which ones do I still need?.....now that is quite a problem. I had a copy of everything

But........ what I will be able to do though , and probably will do also, is to finish the story with existing pics (if I can upload them) and finally create a well deserved ending to Nexis of Genesis. If I am not able to find a way to upload pics, then I will simply create words that a pictureful. (Is that possible?.....lol)

Give me a week or two to write the story.

You could send the pictures to me and I could upload them like I did with the region view a while back.

I actually don't like the city itself much, because it somehow lacks distinctive features, and there are quite a lot of details that could be improved (a mansion 5 feet from a freight station, parkings where the alleys don't match, etc.). However, what is outstanding is this 139-page-long story - longer than some novels!

The last update is dated 11/21/05. Don't you think it's a little late to make such comment.

    coming............

I am writing the last 50 years of happenings on Mahoon, Uru and Genesis. Once finished I will upload several pages to make a good ending. This make take some time, because of little time in Real Life.

rocketoink: The Space stations are mostly all Nexis BATs and lots and not available anywhere.

I'll be pleased to see the wrap-up of this classic CJ, MrB.  Not because I want to see it end, mind you, but it's so clear from Lavender that you have moved forward in a way that has transcended the bounds of the old story.  NofG deserves an honorable conclusion so that it can be read as a complete story in its own right.

Thanks so much for not letting all the computer/ST5.0 conversion adversity stop you.  It is a privilege to post a comment on this great CJ.

    Some news today:

I managed to re-open some of the cities in Nexis of Genesis and the less populated ones, I was able without the game crashing on me, meaning that some *new* pictures of Genesis will be seen in my Ending story. Though I have not managed yet to get into the bigger Cities, like Nexis City,Grand Dam, Gloryville, Axis South and Axis City (just to mention a few) and probably never will. Besides I have given up on these, because I have spent dozens of hours to correct the situation without any results.

I am now concentrating myself more on the ending of Genesis and BATting, then the Lavender story, since I realize that this new story doesn't interest many readers. I might even stop Lavender soon.

I hope to have the first part of *The End of Nexis of Genesis* by the beginning of next week. The story will pick up exactly 50 years after where we stopped.
