Foreword

Welcome one and all to my second City Journal! After the unexpected success of my previous CJ, the Republic of Bevelle, coupled with the death of my hard drive, I bring to you The Source. Everything you see here will be custom tailored to my needs. I do plan to release a few of my lots in the future, time permitting. With everything being custom, the city building will be slow, which always has been my style. Updates will come once a week, with teaser shots here and there.

I'll only have three pics to start things off right now. The city is not detailed enough to showcase yet, but I'll add a few more pics over the next couple of days. I hope this turns out even better than Bevelle was in terms of both readership and quality. Only time will tell if this is the true Source....

Stay tuned...

Looks like a great beginning. i didn't see Bevelle, so I hope to make ammends by following this one. It seems to me that lotter's cities are often the best.

That pathway/embankment is absolutely amazing!

Dsrwhat316 has returned! What an impressive start to The Source!

I can already see that you have imported the unmatched road curves from Bevelle. It really adds an edge to the feel of the city.

I will be watching this one! You have showed that you have what it takes to make a successful CJ, and I hope your new hard drive doesn't crash! 3.gif

Best,

-Haljackey

Welcome back to the CJ world, Dan! 4.gif You sure know how to impress. That's one nice city, I can definitely tell that this will be a great successor to Bevelle. It's also good to see the custom lots back in full force. For only three pictures, that was quite a start... but we all know you're pretty famous for short updates and teasers. 3.gif Can't wait to see much, much more excellence. 9.gif

I LOVE!! Your lotting skills. Iam still having a hard time with editing even some of the smallest stuff. The Source is something I am looking forward to for a while.

From what I can see it looks very good. I haven't read Beville (unfortunately 15.gif), but I've seen your work in other places. It appears that this is a small step up.

I'll be looking forward to more.

    Replies1.jpg

psander5: Shame you didn't see Bevelle; but I hope you enjoy this CJ!

un1: Thanks, my friend! I'm glad you enjoy seeing the parks featured and I hope you stay tuned.

Schulmanator: Thanks, man; great to see you here!

BlondeTwiggy: Custom lots is the name of the game for this CJ. It's one of the reasons why I won't be updating as frequently as I did with Bevelle. Thanks much for commenting!

haljackey: Hey, buddy! I knew you'd appreciate my road infrastructure. I will be picking up where I left off; continuing to experiment with texturing road curves. Thanks for dropping by!

ky72x: Ah, one of my most faithful readers... nice to see you again, Kyle! True; the updates will be short, but I prefer quality over quantity. This one city will take me probably a few months to complete, but I assure everyone you won't see same thing twice in this city!

NMUSpidey: Please do keep up; it'll be quite a ride, I assure you!

jacqulina: Hello again, my friend! I look forward to your support throughout this CJ.

GMT: Thanks, man; I'm still learning how to use those river pieces, but I like a challenge!

fabsies55 (1st post): Thanks, my friend!

Tia-may: Glad you like the open spaces; there's plenty of them in Tyne.

Shingure: Thanks, my friend! Maybe I can give you a few pointers here and there; just let me know if there's anything I can help you with!

hamish: Yeah, that kinda frustrates me. But it is a game glitch I can do nothing about. I'm glad you approve!

fabsies55 (2nd post): This city is barely even started; so an overview won't show much at this time. I'm also a slow city builder, so it'll be awhile before we see a full-blown city. I hope you stay and watch!

Patricius Maximus: Thanks, man. Unfortunately, most of my Bevelle CJ is indispose, due to the outage here at Simtropolis a couple months ago. I'm glad you are following this one, though!

roboo1: Yes, quite a lot of time was taken to create the river. I'm almost finished laying out the entire river. Glad you like!

CraigKingOfIreland: Thanks, friend; hope you enjoy the update!

    Update 1- Clean Cut

I bring to everyone the first official update of The Source! I plan on making most of my updates to contain mosaics, so that all details can be displayed. Please note that the game clock hasn't been started yet, which means there will be no traffic on the roads for a little while longer. Let's get started....

I love those custom alleyways in the teaser update... full of cars, trucks, and other assorted props. 4.gif

The bridges crossing the 'river' look very nice, and so does the Riverwalk that runs alongside. Once you actually start the game clock, that area is just going to be awesome with road and foot traffic everywhere. Great mosaics, those are another one of your many talents that I missed seeing for a while. The curved roads and diagonal parks add a lot. It's coming along well, Dan! 2.gif

    Teaser

I couldn't resist showing some of the things I've been up to in the past couple of days. I finally downloaded iLive's Reader, so I've been testing around with transparent textures. This next shot is an example of it; if you can spot where I used transparent textures, you win the prize!

Pretty sure they are actually canal walls, and you can get them over at SC4D. It looks like the Source Eye (or BA Eye I suppose) might be the one holding the transparent texture, or just some technical lot editing. ;D Anyway the previous updates have been really good, I can see your usual good work and expertise is being used to the fullest amount in the new CJ, and you are doing a great job.
