Congratulations to everyone on earning their awards the hard way! And thank you all for your valiant service in defense of Schulmania! Long live the Supreme Wirdle!

Also, Nathanthemayor, that is AWESOME. Although it does make me realize that I am never catching Hester or Leech in the rankings;)

    Schulmania’s Experiment!

    3fa1dcd43a66d-38-1.jpg

    Groundskeeper Willie Needed

    Groundskeeper_Willie_1.png

OK folks, here’s why I need Groundskeeper Willie: I am getting bored with the various flora stuff I have. I have been doing all sorts of areas with nature stuff and what I have noticed is… after a while, they all start looking the same. It’s getting a bit boring. I have tried mixing the various elements up a bit but the effect is still pretty much the same. So, I am looking for some input as to what new flora I might be able to add. Before I give you my parameters, I am showing you below the majority of what I have. I am skipping the standard Maxis stuff and showing the rest.

(For reference purposes, the tile used for this little experimental exhibition is from central Harar.)

So, now that I have exposed myself (!!!!) to everyone, here’s what I am looking for:

I need some new stuff… lots of it. I like what I have but I am tired of seeing it all the time. I need more trees, flowers, rocks, stuff and more stuff. So, I would like your recommendations of flora and stuff you like and use. Tell me what you think looks good in game. Even better, show us some pix of the suggested items you have in game. :D

The only things I am trying to avoid are 1) individual trees that are ~5-8 MB (too much for a single tree) or things with hefty loads of dependencies (if I have to add in 10++ MB of files to get the plant to show, it’s too much).

Also, if you are interested,, I am tiring of my water mod and may be interested in your suggestions for a new one. So, feel free to show me what you have as well. The main thing I want is something fairly realistic looking.

Thanks! Your help is groovy! Purr!

So... To know useful information about flora, rock or water stuff, you should read this "article", what I have just written: :read:

About Fine Flora - By 9988

I have more than 200 different flora types(or much more, I don't know exact number, only that my mayor mode flora takes about one minute to scroll down), so I can recommend some. PEG mountain theme MMP trees are very good for boreal forests(Ponderosa pines, redwoods, spruces, lodgepoles...) Also, one of the best trees I ever saw can be found on Sc4Devotion and were made by Girafe(Oaks, Willows, Maples, Spruces), and are also in seasonal versions. Maybe they have about 5-6 MB, but they are really worth it :ohyes: ! Heblem also created many types of wonderful flora, for exaple different types of sand(white, yellow, brown, black), or wonderful rocks for many different terrain types(sandstone, granite, mossy, desert, grassy...), they can be found there: Heblem's rocks link

No, this was only the first info.

    :read:

There are also some tropical and subtropical MM trees by Heblem. And of course, these brilliant trees by SimFox(maybe not as good as girafe ones), what are very popular among many users. Or Flora set by Sorchin, with dead trees, rocks and dense flowers, various other PEG mayor mode floras(MMP).

    There are some useful links:

    Girafe's stuff:

    Oaks

    Willows

    Maples

    If you want seasonal ones

    Pegasus's stuff:

    Some tree stuff

    Scrub bushes

    Other:

    Sorchin flora set

    Gravel

I can't remember where is the rest, but hope this helps.

    Water:

To Water modds, I would recomment well known and popular PEG Brigantine water mod, what is very realistic and one of the best water mods ever, I think. Colours of links are very similar to color of that Water Mod.

    Link to Brigantine

    This is better for lakes

    And this is tropical. 8)

Hope this all helps(Maybe I should get some Schulmania special information help award, or this comment should count as 10  )

Bye, and I hope that you will succesfully find the rest. 8)

    South Wirdleonia: Opportunity Knocks

Every growing city needs a growing commercial district. Robinia is no exception. Along Princess Katherine Boulevard, the fashionistas and Schulmanistas jockey for position in the various commercial and mixed use developments. You don’t want to be left behind, so come along as we dispense with some schulmonetas and get some great new doodads and whatnots and doohickies.

    ROBcommercial2.jpg

The Fountains at Purring Place offers a wide variety of retailers and outdoor dining opportunities.

    ROBcommercial3.jpg

Speaking of outdoor dining, why not stop by Tweety’s, the popular cat café?

    tweetyflan_3.jpg

Have one of their signature Tweety Bird Flans… delicioso!

    ROBcommercial4.jpg

Princess Katherine Boulevard is rapidly becoming one of the most fashionable shopping districts in the nation.

    ROBcommercial5.jpg

Demographic information indicates that this area is drawing in shoppers from across the Southlands, as far as Harar. A substantial trail heads due south from the new town toward Harar. One has to wonder what the non-domiciled felines of Harar think of this glittering shopping area.

    ROBcommercial6.jpg

You’ve heard of the ‘pick your own’ farms for things such as blueberries and tomatoes… now, Schulmania’s first ‘catch your own’ trees for netting a nice avian dinner. Bon appétit!

    ROBcommercial7.jpg

Growth continues up to the border with South Wirdleonia. On the other side, development begins on the south bank of the river and continues all the way to this area. Robinia is certainly a town on the grow.

    ROBmarket1.jpg

At New Market, you can find just about anything for sale. A specialty of the area is luxurious catmere, made from the finest shed cat fur. Don’t you need a fine catmere sweater?

Perhaps we can have an audience with Princess Katherine. Let’s get a nice picnic lunch and head to the park. I heard she will be sunning there today.

    ROBpark1.jpg

We can hang out at the park right by her house, enjoying views of the Wirdleonia River.

    ROBpark2.jpg

But don’t go into her private fishing pond without permission, or you will get a scratching.

Okay, need permission before fishing. Now, when I retire from the Service, this may be the city I settle down with my healthy military pension to, I don't know, open a Chicken King or a comic book store selling stories of a unique arachnid-based hero... It really says a lot about the realm of Schulmania being at war and yet still having the resources and will to prosper in the face of it. Way to go, guys!

The Schulmania Flag Counter has two countries closing in on 1000 different visitors... I wonder which will hit 4 digits first.

    race1000.jpg

For a long time, the UK had a commanding lead over Canada, 100 or so more than Canada. But that lead has steadily been chipped away until where it stands now. They are neck and neck heading into the home stretch for 1000. I can't say for sure which will hit 1000 first. But, my prediction is that the winning nation will have Queen Elizabeth on the front of its coins!

    School’s out!!!

    www0.jpg

Here we are in the midst of a long hot summer. And I am starting my much needed summer vacation.

    www2.jpg

But before I head outside to watch the birds (perchance to pounce),…

    www3.jpg

    www4.jpg

…I have important business to tend to. The Schulmania website, www.schulmania.info, has been in need of updating.

So, no shopping for new catnip toys at the mall until I get the updates done.

    www6.jpg

So, off I go to satisfy the needs of Schulmania’s commerce and industry…

    www7.jpg

Bowing to such pressure, I headed in to my high-rise office to complete the update to the website…

    www8.jpg

Here in my spacious office overlooking the Admiral Furway (Highway 82), I have hammered out the website updates now posted. What to see what has been added? All pictures in this update are clickable and will take you to the Schulmania homepage.

What can you expect to find? Here’s some highlights:

    • 29 new PDF chapters of Schulmania and Harar have been added. No, that is NOT a typo! This includes not just updates on Schulmania and Hara but also war updates. Two of the PDFs are brand new and are debuting on the website BEFORE being posted to Simtropolis!
    • Several regional government pages have been updated with new information.
    • Several city profiles have been added and others have been updated. The City Directory includes some cities not yet shown on Simtropolis.
    • And, if you are curious about the fallout of the Battle of Timber Ridge, exclusive details are found in a military briefing. Additionally, new military ribbons and recent military awards are now on the website.
    • Other pages with new stuff: Diplomatic Office, Coinage, Official Trees/Flowers
    • And of course there’s plenty of other stuff as well.

Come check it out at www.schulmania.info!

Bipin Thank you! That is very kind. And welcome to Schulmania. I do hope you will come back and enjoy more of what we have here.

Hester I now call this meeting of the Mutual Appreciation Society to order. :P

NMUSpidey I think you may still be a bit young for retirement. I am too. But if I get the powerball jackpot… I will happily start my second career as a millionaire tycoon.

Benedict Your service to Schulmania is appreciated.

    Hester Done!

    hesterfeest.jpg

9988 You are quite welcome. The Wirt one is fairly common but the Babalonia is one of the rarest of them all.

    nathanthemayor Done!

    nathantix.jpg

NMUSpidey No summer till August?! That’s cruel and unusual punishment!

Kakado_to_save Come on over! Be sure to visit our tourism page on the Schulmania website for suggested itineraries.

    Leech10 Coming right up!

Hester Not yet… but a large shipment is due to arrive any time now.

NMUSpidey That would be you… for making post #400 in Schulmania. With this one, you are due for a promotion at the next awards, which will come out at the end of the month.

PS: If you want to see the impact of the recent battle on technology, check Military Briefing #7 on the Schulmania Website!

    2011mapfest.jpg

Welcome to the 2011 Map Fest! Here, we’ll take a look at some of the more interesting things on the Schulmania Revolving Globe Map. It is on most Schulmania pages and makes a dot for each location from which a visitor has accessed Schulmania (and Harar). As the revolving map has been around a while now, some exciting places have visited. And now I am going to show you some of them.

First, some usership milestones… featuring the most Japanese, Canadians, Americans and everyone on Schulmania simultaneously.

    recordvisitors.jpg

    3japans.jpg

    4canadas.jpg

    7usaonline.jpg

    15record.jpg

And now some hard to find countries I have gotten…

    tahiti.jpg

    reunion.jpg

    qatar.jpg

    paraguay.jpg

    newcaledonia-1.jpg

    guam.jpg

    fr-guiana.jpg

    faeroe.jpg

    burkinafaso.jpg

    andorra.jpg

If Nicaragua would come through for me, I would have the entire mainland western hemisphere.

And a special bonus map… Tasmania. As I mentioned somewhere in Volume 1 long, long ago (but not in a galaxy far, far away), the island of Schulmanicus is actually Tasmania. Why? At the time, I did not know how to make a custom region to play on so I used a tile from an Australia map to get me started. Here’s where the towns on Schulmanicus are in relation to their terrestrial counterparts:

    tasmania.png

The flag counter and revolving map are cool. Do consider getting one for your CJ. It is free and easy and interesting.

Enjoy! And now a free concert:

    4ep1.jpg

    http://youtu.be/0-MONIvP6kI

I got a pocket full of quarters and I’m headed to the arcade!
