Encounter at Farpoint

At the far end of the ocean, the exploration fleet has encountered another civilization.

In the smoky haze, two cultures meet. In the encounter, their fates will cross and neither will be the same.

As things became less hazy and the shock of the sudden encounter wore off, crews of both boats quickly assessed the situation and weighed their options. How to proceed? The answer to this will determine the course of history for these two societies. An uneasy quiet filled the air while each boat’s commanders played out scenarios in their heads, trying to determine which offered the best option for their vessel. The silence was broken as a voice from the large metal vessel called over to the Schulminion ship.

   Ahoy there, unknown vessel. Please identify yourself.

  This is the S. S. Black Mace, Archduke Bower commanding. Please identify yourself.

A conversation had begun; the first between Schulmania and another culture.

   This is the Destroyer 333 of the Queensferry Navy. Please identify your place of origin and your intent.

  We are from Schulmania, a nation on the western coast of the ocean. We are on a mission of exploration.

   Welcome to Queensferry. We love you! Please allow us to escort you to our home port, where you and your crew will be processed at the Welcome Center.

  Where is your home port and the welcome center?

   It is located one hour northeast of this location. We will have escort ships accompany your fleet to our port.

  Thank you for your kind welcome. We accept your gracious invitation.

The fleet was last seen headed northeast. I am curious as to what sort of welcome awaits them in Queensferry.

You just met them, how on earth can you love them then?

And on the rest of the dialogue, a proper opening line would be: "This is the Destroyer 333 from Queensferry to unknown vessel, please identify yourself." Not: "This is unknown ship to other unknown ship, please identify yourself." And they would definitely not start with: "Ahoy there!"
