    East Atkinos: The Forest Within

West Forest is as much a tree place as it is a built place. Nowhere is this more evident than in the quaint neighborhoods surrounding the lavish city center. Neighborhoods with names such as Elm Grove and Pine Ridge reveal the close relationship between town and nature. On either side of Forest Row, nature coexists amicably with homes and businesses.

    forestrowhomes1a-1.jpg

    forestrowhomes2-1.jpg

Forest Row is a lush green space ringed by elegant brick homes and businesses. Its proximity to East Atkinos’ power center and high-end businesses has made Forest Row a fashionable address for anyone who’s anyone.

There are many fine homes available across town. Elm Grove is a popular neighborhood. Not that many elm trees growing there, but residents don’t seem to mind. Let’s see what is going on in the neighborhood today.

    hou4.jpg
The most expensive home on this block is the gray stone home in the center. It is owned by Anastasia Beaverhausen, who lives in one side. Rosario McFarlane lives on the other side. At left, obscured by trees, is the cozy home of I. Canhaz Cheezburgers, a jolly feline who leaves his guests “laughing out loud”.

    hou7.jpg
    There’s a party over at Adela’s house. Who’s coming?

Here in Pine Ridge, neighbors enjoy good times and good company. Pine Ridge is home to some of the most respected and exciting citizens of town. Let’s see who we can find here.

    hou14.jpg

At left, on the corner, is the home of Benedict Ellis and his lovely wife Ella. She’s a gourmet chef. Next door is the home of Dan F. Inva, director of the West Forest Transit Office. He received an award from the Grand Duchy for his outstanding signage in town. To his right is Sam Suplado’s house. Mr. Suplado is a well-known artist, specializing in idyllic desert landscapes. The fourth house down is Joe Sobol’s. Mr. Sobol has been busy with his experimental hovercat prototypes. How are the machines coming along? Right now, the results are classified. But, insiders say it is looking promising.

    hou9-1.jpg

Mr. Korot’s home is located on Cherry Street (center of frame). Next to his stately home are the homes of G. N. Leugim (left) and Tomas Neto (right).

    hou16.jpg

Hawky McRaptor lives in the fine stone home seen left of center. He often grills freshly caught squirrels and chipmunks for his guests. He says the secret to his delicious fare is his “world famous grillin’ sauce”. The ingredients are a secret.

The business areas of West Forest are as close to nature as the residential sector. Retail, offices and other commercial ventures enjoy the same urban oasis feel as the residential areas.

    bus8.jpg

Hard to believe that thousands of schulmonetas per day change hands right here, isn’t it? It seems so tranquil. But, West Forest is the largest local economy in eastern Schulmania.

    bus11.jpg

The stately Ducal Mint is now in operation. The stone building will produce coinage for West Forest and other communities in the region.

Curious to see the designs of the new coinage? New designs will be released soon!

    Brad2.jpgBrad: Hovercats again?

    Brian2.jpgBrian: Too bad they're classified.

Brad2.jpgBrad: Why is all the good stuff always classified?

    Brian2.jpgBrian: Indeed.

I'm afraid that copy/pasting from word wouldn't work.

But I hear it on very good authority that the %7Boption%7D tags will be returned in due time. 4.gif Lots of little site-upgrade niggles to fix and that one's on the list. 4.gif

    ISF

Edit: Oh, PFB made me miss the update! It's neat! Kinda Dutch, isn't it? I like Dutch and German styles. 4.gif

Those houses are beautiful! May I ask whose they are?

Your style is truly great, also. It's amazing all that is done without roads. Your cities look stunning in how functional they feel. Great work

Another rock-solid, beautiful update you've made. West Forest is certainly a worthy addition to Atkinos (my personal favorite of your realms). Woods of Wayne still holds a special place in my heart though2.gif.

Looks great! Can't wait for more!!!!!

EDIT: By the way, I started on that essay test. I have about 45 pages finished, but I don't believe the rest will fit into the 65 page limit. I get a little wordy when I'm writing academic-style9.gif.

Nice update, great looking town. I'll report about the the fixes later, or more precisely, whether or not they have been implemented properly, when IE starts to work.

Edit: IE works, but I thought you had updated the site, well I don't see any chances to the Dutch version, still the same errors, and yes, I did clean my cookies.

Beautiful town here... I use many of the same buildings in Ainkien. I was wondering, though, how do you keep the Matt 32B terraces (I'm approximating the name) from taking over? I've had that problem in my cities. I like the Matt 32B terraces I just wish they would "share" with the gascooker buildings a little more. 4.gif

Very nice... LOL I thought for a second it said "the guest ends here"...

Let no one yield, we're on the field where deeds eclipse the sun; where the brave are told on a thread of gold, the tapestry is spun. As they speak of dreams, their armor gleams, this calm before the storm... Where all can see their destiny, the bishop takes the pawn.

Leech10 Hmmm… I did not know I could batch upload pix in this way. I will try it out.

    Danielcote Not a bad price!

Benedict Glad ya do! Would you like one yourself? Here’s a free drink.

    SoftDrinkCan2.jpg

    Hester Thank you, Miss H!

Leech10 They classify the good stuff because its good! Can’t get everyone too excited about the news, ya know. Gotta save something for the sensational tabloids and fake documentaries!

Zelgadis If our IMG and /IMG friends come back, I am buying Wirdle Soda for everyone!

    PhatHead Now THAT is power!

Jacqulina Thank you. I appreciate your ongoing support.

Jill Jacobs Thank you! The buildings feature some Gascooker lots and a lot of MattB325 lots from SC4D. I have been using more of Matt’s here to differentiate the English style towns a bit from one another. I am glad you like the outcome.

NMUSpidey Thanks, Matthew. Be sure to get your paper finished soon so I don’t have to put you in detention!

Korot Thanks. I will be looking at getting some changes posted this weekend.

panthersimcity4 Thanks! It is nice to do different styles from time to time. I am glad you like the result.

Sobol It is hard to do. Click on the little landscape looking thingy and paste in the URL of where the pic is and see if that takes.

Danielcote Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed this update.

Knarfmo Thanks! I do have some overbuilding of certain types from time t time. But, not with those. If I do, I keep on bulldozing until I get something I like. Then I make it historic before it changes.

Petrovar Ambassador Thanks! I appreciate that. It is hard to keep it vehicle-free. But, I enjoy the challenge of it.

Sobol Oh Noes! Fight the system! We must have posts!

Hester She will definitely step in if her Hovercat research is impeded!

Manticorefan That would have been interesting!

Benedict Thanks! I liked the title myself.

Twenty20 Merci beaucoup! It is always a pleasure to have you drop in to Schulmania!

BTW, only a few pages left till the 100 page awards! Start bracing for it!

    SchulMedical Consultation

    DATELINE: 1 April 2009

SUBJECT: Dr. Nick Riviera Answers Frequently Asked Questions from Patients

    nick5mq0.gif

    NARRATIVE:

Hiiiii, every-body! I’m Doctor Nick Riviera! Now to answer your questions!

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... Don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit.
Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain....Good!

Q: Aren’t fried foods bad for you?
    A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!!
.... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
    A: Are you crazy?
    HELLO!!!
Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming well for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

So all that chocolate I sit around eating everyday has been a GOOD thing! Thank you so much, Dr Rivera, for taking the time to clear up so many important health myths. The Q&A truly was an eye-opener.
