Post 1000 is slowly approaching, everyone, get your tractor beams ready.

Hmm... I wonder when the next auction is...

Edit (pesky post bug): Greek? I don't think I know any Greek.

It's incredible how you come up with different themes all the time with such apparent ease. I like the Latin theme a lot, it's very nicely put together.

The new employees are very cute... I know who would make a great English translator.

    OFF TOPIC ALERT!

    Schulmania Presents....

Ground Light Rail & Real-Life STEX Buildings

Alternate title: The Labor Day parade downtown was lamer than a 1-legged millipede, so here's how I spent my time

Well, here's how it all went down: I got up this morning and we all headed out to the train station to go see the parade downtown today. Charlotte's light rail system, which began in late Nov 2007, is, if not the newest in the world, among the newest systems in the world. I know we have lots of light rail fans on ST so I came equipped with my camera. This is indeed fortunate, as the parade was certainly underwhelming. The highlight of my day was taking pictures of the trains and their associated infrastructure and buildings on the STEX. Well, not exactly true. The other highlight was eating lunch and getting a big ol' milkshake afterwards. But, I digress...

As it became apparent that the parade was not what we were hoping for, I recused myself to roam around and take a few pix that I hope you will like. Therefore, my day was spent gathering pix for your viewing pleasure. I hope you like the views of Charlotte's light rail and downtown.

    PART 4

    Real Life STEX Buildings

There are 3 buildings from Charlotte represented on the STEX. With nothing particularly photogenic to see in the parade, I decided to regale you with these pix.

That parking sign is going to give me a headache if I stare at it much longer. On another note, the trains look great; very new and sharp! They definitely look much cooler than ours.

the shout outs will be coming tomorrow... I am still working on the frenetic special item, which is a bonus, as I already made the Post 1000 update special. In Schulmania, I just shower you with riches! So, two goodies coming. But now, it's time to go get my beauty sleep! awww....shoot~! 15.gif Missed the 1000 post line... oh well,

theres definitely going to be PAR-TAYING!! ... right?! (I hope so!)

Btw - cant believe you found those buidlings! Charlotte is a beautiful city, went there once, bout three years ago, to see our friends. We went to the smoky mountains too. I thought you lived in Tennesee, though, are you originally from there? That part of the country is freaking awesome though.

Plus the trains are pretty shiny. *stares at shiny trains until someone slaps him*

Oh.. uh.. got carried away threre... reminds me of the small and much crappier tram system called the "Houston Metro". Thanks to the trams snaking through the city, Houston has some of the mosst confusing roads in the US. I Suggest not going downtown if youre new to the town lol!!

I suppose I'll end my two-week lurkathon to say congrats to the 999th, 1000th, and 1001st posters. I was totally gonna be here to take one for the team again, but alas, I had to go to work (now it's lunchtime). Anyways, your stuff looks pretty nice, Hestorb seems to have set up a nice-looking place there, eh? I am slightly jealous. Charlotte looks great too. I didn't know it was so big and modern, I thought it was a lot closer to Toledo-sized. Labor Day parades are always boring though, ain't they?

    Leech10 Now THAT'S a thought!

Willg Hmmm... maybe I need another sale.

Hester Cristian... PAY UP! Rent's due!

Tia-may Thanks! I am glad you liked Hestorbia's latest update.

    Hester Indeed!

Leech10 Auction? It may be on the to-do list.

Gn_leugim I am glad you like it. A special something is coming up as a 1000 post bonus soon... and it carries the theme a bit further.

PhilsCafe Hmmm... perhaps I need one translator for cats. But, that would be too easy. All text would become "meow meow meow..."

Balkair Thanks! Glad you like it. And, you can be either one.

Smarty218 Indeed! It's turning out to be a bigger operation than I thought. I still need to PDF more updates for the archive too.

blue sinjid That is indeed the RL Hearst Tower. Thanks for visiting Schulmania. Please do come back again soon!

Benedict I am glad to hear it. You are welcome to move in anytime.

Hester It is kinda cool to see something in game but right there in front of you.

Leech10 It's a temporary for the parade. But I enjoyed the contradiction.

edmonton_stinks Thanks! They are brand new- it went into operation in late Nov. 2007.

NYM1980 You are correct. I found it amusing anyway. And, congratulations on post #1000. You and #999 & 1001 will have a special tribute coming soon.

Abcvs DOH! Better luck next time!

Zelgadis It does. And it has exceeded expectations for ridership. Expensive gasoline certainly helps with encouraging mass transit. Ridership is nearly 50% over expectations and they are both ordering more cars and have plans for massive expansion of the line to the north and northeast.

Anik Thanks for dropping by. You are right on both parts. I am from Tennessee, but moved to North Carolina a while back. So, I am *in* Charlotte but I am not *of* Charlotte. As for Houston.... You are right. Driving through there with those gigantic Stonehenge-On-Steroids overpasses and ramps on such is certainly no treat. I'd rather drive Atlanta. Atlanta... where every 4+ lane road can qualify as the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

NMUSpidey Glad to see you back. If I would have known how lame that was going to be, I would have stayed home. But then, I would not have had pix to share. Charlotte is a pretty big town... over 600k people and counting.

Gn_leugim DOH! Better luck next time!

Jacqulina Thanks, J! Glad you like them.

Smarty218 Thanks. And the winner's prize will be revealed soon.

    Hester Keep on trying!

Leech10 Hmmm... technically, no. but, since you are one of our valued employees... how about a free combo at Chicken King, on me? 9.gif

NMUSpidey Always the bridesmaid and never the bride!

PhilsCafe Thanks. I am glad you liked the pix. I do like to see everyone else's towns as well.

    Schulmania

    Volume 2

    1000th Post-aversary!

Schulmania now spans 2 volumes with over 9000 total posts. And, Volume 2 now has its first 1000 posters. To celebrate this occasion, we will look not at the nation of Schulmania itself, but at the inner workings of the www.schulmania.info webpage, as it plays out in a SC4 interpretation. We will see where the employees of Schulmania live and work and shop as well as where you, the virtual guest, stay and enjoy yourself. Schulmania's staff includes such Simtropolis dignitaries as Gn_leugim, Leech10, Twenty20, anik, Explodingsims, NMUSpidey, penguin007 as well as new hires Balkair and Fledder200. Website Central gets lots of visits from esteemed celebrities as well, including Admiral Hestorb, Princess Katherine, and even the Supreme Wirdle, herself.

We'll explore the website and see the amenities for its loyal and dedicated employees as well as fine destinations for guests from around the universe. But, before I begin... a shoutout to the homeland!

    shoutoutnp4.jpg

And, now, we ride in on modern transit across the WWW to the Schulmania Blog, hosted on the site. It is the main station for newcomers, and has been accessed over 1000 times, making it the second most popular page on the site. Only the index page has higher numbers.

    blogco2.jpg

    All aboard Schulmania!

If this journey makes you hungry, perhaps you would like to stop off and get a snack.

    shop1yt1.jpg

But, my mother doesn't like these fast food places much. So, there's places for her in the virtual Schulmania as well...

    shop4sa2.jpg

    She likes Applebee's

Guests to the website can stay in several locations across the site, depending on the length of their stay and what they plan on doing at the website.

    guests1vu1.jpg

Just stopping by to look at a quick link or two? Why not get a SchulMocha Latte while you enjoy the website? The Holiday Inn welcomes guests to the Schulmania website.

    guests2yv1.jpg

Staying longer? Why not upgrade to the Sheraton? You will have great views of the central website and have easy navigation throughout. While you stay, feel free to see the new translations and city directories made by employees.

    guests3ckmz8.jpg

Returning guests are ensconced in the Embassy Suites, right on central website's lawn. These special guests are close to the living quarters of our employees and have the added bonus of being next door to a Chicken King!

Speaking of our loyal employees... here's some of the exclusive benefits they receive as our fabulous workers.

    shop5ct4.jpg

The most popular benefit for the feline employees is an unlimited supply of Fancy Feast from the grocery store. As for the human employees, they prefer the ice cream aisle more.

    recroomoy3.jpg

There are ample recreational facilities in the virtual Schulmania. Guests are welcome to take advantages of these as well - there are 2 versions of the Chicken King game and the new BattleCatz - Schulmania'a answer to tic tac toe.

    snackbarlt7.jpg

There is a complimentary snack bar open to all employees as well... catered by Chicken King, of course.

Oh! Let's not forget the posh living quarters each employee has been provided - all paid for by the Supreme Wirdle in appreciation for their hard work and dedication to cyber Schulmania.

    anikux5.jpg

Spanish translator Anik lives in the fine Mediterranean-inspired abode.

    spideydr4.jpg

Japanese translator NMUSpidey resides in this sleek glass tower, overlooking the central website's lawn.

    gnleugimkg4.jpg

Portuguese translator Gn Leugim has a fine view from his domed building.

    2020pplazazr5.jpg

At Place Juliette, French translator Twenty20 has a very nice home.

    xplleeches9.jpg

Writer Explodingsims (left) and translator Leech10 (right) are next door neighbors. Both are steps away from the lawn which leads to the central website and have close access to rapid transit.

Since both of these employees are furthering their education, www.schulmania.info is providing facilities for continuing education. Here is the secondary school.

    xplhsym5.jpg

    xplhs2dq3.jpg

For university-bound employees, such as Leech, a high tech school has been established to provide the latest and greatest in higher education.

    leechtechschlhf7.jpg

    penguinua2.jpg

Here stands the fine brick home of Penguin007, the site's German translator.

New employees Fledder200 and Balkair are searching now for fancy new homes. I am sure they will find something great!

    y08.jpg

Right now, they are using their hiring bonuses to pick out some nice stuff for their homes from Target. And, perhaps over to Arby's for a snack afterwards. I think it's gonna be a curly fries kinda day!

    82418811.hP64vXoQ.DSCN1029.jpg

    YUM!

Before we go to the central website, we can stop and pick up some items for a picnic.

    shop2km5.jpg

Let's see... paper plates... napkins... picnic basket.... food.... drinks... we're all set!

    shop6fr5.jpg

I just need to stop by Eckerd's right quick to pick up a few prescriptions for FrontlinePlus... in case any fleas show up!

Now, off to the website. It's a large and growing place, hosting 50 pages worth of materials and about 100 PDF files, as well as 6 multimedia files. All of that is housed here.

    websiteok7.jpg

Come through the gates of www.schulmania.info and explore the site!

Alas, it is time for lunch. So, let's adjourn for now to the lawn out front of the gates so we can have our picnic.

    lawntogettoworkvd1.jpg

Let's party, folks! Volume 1 now has 1000 posts and Schulmania is over 9000 posts! Rock on!!
