I think we have enough ideas to work over many years on it. The chance is very small that any idea will be realized y anyone else. I think studying the Interchange Tutorial and to do the work yourself is more quickly.

what i'd like to see is the existing interchanges made for non-highway road networks. this would be a more realistic addition; and i'd be prepared to make them myself in the future when i have a lot more time on my hands.

i'd also like to see the interchanges with roundabouts.

those are the most realistic interchange additions, especially for the UK/europe

Well, you don't get to 104 pages in a thread without at least several dozen pages of, how do I download...? and how do I install...? posts!  3.gif

I haven't followed this thread very closely so I'm sorry if this was covered already. Should these one way road roundabouts be functional or are they just eye candy? I've put a few of them into my cities but nobody uses them - even when they're the only way to get from place to place.

--> BTW, they are absolutely gorgeous...and this is by far the best NAM yet!

Eburress,

For left-hand drive, the roundabout needs to be drawn clockwise, as shown in the pic that Edcase provided.

For right-hand drive, the roundabout needs to be drawn counter-clockwise, opposite of what is shown.

If you place a single tile of street, road, or one-way road in the middle, a statue with grass and shrubs appears and provides a small park effect in the area. This part is optional, so you can place a park or any other 1x1 lot in the middle.

Wow, talk about a cool feature. I didn't know that, but it sounds great! I can't wait till the German translation of the latest NAM version gets released... 35.gif

Great work, everyone! You rock! 44.gif

A question about the latest incarnation (October as of this post). If I replace my old NAM files with the new ones, my cities that utilize the NAM should be OK, right? Like I won't have to go destroying my citites just to adapt to the new additions?

Definitely...I can't wait to get home and try that out!! 35.gif

Thanks for the info, Swamper77! I don't remember which direction I made the one way streets but I'm sure that probably was my problem.

What's the difference between the Mac and PC versions of the NAM?

The files are the same, only the distribution method is different. The Windows version comes with an installer where you simply can select the desired components, hit install and the rest is done automatically. No more confusion about doubled traffic plugins, wrong installation paths etc. Another advantage is the smaller download size, due to the better compression algorithms (about 7.35 MB compared to 10.4 MB). Since EXE files don't work on the Mac, this version is the plain old ZIP file.

Tropod, (or other NAM developers)

I have a quick question about the NAM... I've been using it since it came out, but I managed to confuse myself last week...

The question I have deals with the transit bugfixes from forever ago put out by 7trumpets.  Do I still need these, or are they taken care of by the NAM?  I THINK I had them on my system... but I think I deleted them last week (I say I think because I was working with something and I accidentally deleted a few files I didn't mean to, and I looked and these were no longer in my plugin folder... but I'm not sure if they're SUPPOSED to be!)

I don't think that having or not having them will affect how my game or the NAM works... but I just wanna make sure!

Thanks!

the Transit Bugfixes by The7Trumpets are included in the NAM. you no longer need those files, and they will cause conflicts if you still have them.

The history file lists every addition that was made to the NAM - somewhere all the way down the transit bugfixes are listed, too. 2.gif The NAM is pretty much an all-in-one mod for every aspect regarding the traffic network, as long as it doesn't come to lots (lots will always be separate and not included into the NAM). The only exception are the various texture mods, such as the Euro Road Texture Mod or the Dirty Diagonal Streets Mod.

Just a quick note of thanks and a tip of the old hat to acknowledge the talent and hard work that has gone into making the NAM... I've only been playing for a couple of months now, and the latest NAM release marks my third time for downloading what I consider to be single greatest addition to the game outside of anything that MAXIS has done for SC4.

It may be just a small detail to you, but personally, I think those roundabouts are the creme de la creme of the whole download (my neighborhoods look good, now!)... Keep up the great work, guys!
