I really like the way you've done your coastal areas. The smaller developments and suburbs are also growing nicely.

boon1234 - glad you liked the map..its still remains unfinished (lol such a big region i dont know what to work on first)i used region census and photoshop BTW 4.gif

Geronimo - Glad you liked the photos, we have to thank the guys behind "photoshop" for that too 9.gif

Smarty218 - thank you 4.gif the map has taken a backseat though, but its around 80% done

    SC4portugal - thank you 4.gif

Benedict - the purple line is elevated rail well monorail actually, but i downloaded a bat to make it look like a mix of a monorail and elevated rail..i call the system Puerto Joya Skytrain though 9.gif

Gabry85 - thanks, which airport though? the hellhole airport? 9.gif

Nardo69 - thanks nardo, well that "accidental" clicking happens to me too 4.gif but, like you, i always find myself pleased to open a nice CJ

helomoto - thank you, yeah , the fun part is in the detailing though its a painstaking process for me since im working on a very huge region (darn never knew it would be this hard lol)

cityhawk - thanks, well yeah, i try to avoid going overboard with my airport, im basing it as to how a city in a developing country would look like (well if it did exist, i think it would be the 2nd biggest in the philippines) so yeah its a little overboard already lol

as for the avenues though, im basing the layout (well , loosely based) on my home city of davao and we do have a lot of avenues 4.gif

    Berethor - thank you friend

Charles Rodulfo - oi kabayan 4.gif thanks haha no lasalle for me since im an atenean 4.gif but meh, i might make one too 9.gif

Pilotdaryl - thanks, and most of my work wont be possible without your (airport team) help, so i thank you for that too (please extend my gratitude to the other team members too)

Bobinator - thanks! these coastal suburbs (and inland as well) are what im working on right now 4.gif

AceofSpades -thank you 4.gif developing these suburbs (well in the Philippines these are called "barrios" esp the rural area) is fun..LOL ive been playing the rural areas for a long time now i almost forgot how my downtown looks like hehe

    STATUS REPORT

Sorry for the lack of update guys, but my slow internet has limited my Simtropolis time..anyway, im still developing my region and most of the work is on the expansion of the city (farms, roads and the smaller neighboring cities) ive not put much detail yet so the next update might be in a week

Heres what ive done so far (click image to view larger picture)

    largepjoya2.jpg

i made 3 highways (yellow line) connecting the city to the outer neighboring cities (last highway remains unfinished though) and 1 "circumferencial highway" (red line)at the outskirts of the urban area..I also rerouted the rail that passes through the urban core to the circumferential road

    The highways<

Deever - thanks 4.gif yeah i guess i made a region too big for me to handle lol right now im still trying to finish the sprawl ..about the sig , NP, im just trying to make a link for all pinoy made CJs 4.gif edted my sig to link your newest CJ too (pinoy pride!)

    panthersimcity4 - thanks 9.gif

Smarty 218 & BBfan02 - glad you liked the region view, im quite an obsessive compulsive when i develop it.

Benedict - thanks, i have earlier pics of it but i havent made an update focusing entirely on it 4.gif that gives ma an idea for a future update though

SimRabbit - thanks, glad you liked it

    Jacqulina - thanks Jaky

Anyway, so im still trying to finish the sprawl so the cities (outside the core) arent detailed yet 15.gif its larger than i originally thought so the sprawl takes sometime to finish 15.gif the eastern and northern (or north and east  and if you look at the map) is more or less finished though but the south (or west) and the island is still a week away from taking form so my updates are delayed

heres the latest region shot BTW (oh and the trees take sometime to plant though as i want to make the region green although im not planning to develop the "hinterlands" (northeast and northwest of the map)

again, you can click on the map to see the larger image 4.gif cheers

    jacqulina

    - thanks jaky, ive been reading your CJ to have inspiration for my "nature park" its still a work in progress though but you can see it in the region view 4.gif

Benedict - thanks 4.gif yeah the farms to the left were less of a headache since i had problems with some rural bats earlier that would just grow so fast the bigger farms get overtaken..so i removed the files when i made the farms to the left and so now building farms is much faster 4.gif have to thank some rural CJers here for inspiration too 4.gif

Dsrwhat316 - ahh the trees 9.gif i downloaded lots of them too 9.gif coz the maxis trees just dont blend well with my terrain texture 15.gif so i had to download lots of trees, well is fun to plop though

nihonkaranws - thanks my friend 4.gif

Schulmanator - wow, a visit from you 9.gif im honored 9.gif thanks

gabry85 - well its not really big (if we talk real life cities) its only 68x26km (so approximately around 110 large city tiles including the seas)

CarmineHilton - thanks 4.gif you have a very pretty avatar too 9.gif

    Shingure -thanks friend 4.gif

bbfan02 - thanks BB, large and fun to do (but very time consuming too 15.gif)

Jacqulina - thanks jaky (or is that Jacky? 4.gif) well it isnt finished yet 15.gif and i have a few updates lined up before i "unveil" the natural attractions 4.gif

Smarty218 - thanks 9.gif lol the trees seem a bit too much, ive re-worked them and cut some (near the urban core) i maintained a rainforest though near the watershed in the outskirts of the city

Suplado! - Oi idol! salamat pare 4.gif your work is one of my inspirations (pinoy pride FTW! lol)

AROUND PUERTO JOYA: Punta Joya Freeport and Special Economic Zone

Once the site of a US Naval Base, the district of Punta Joya is located just east of the district of San Vicente. For years the area was generally underdeveloped where the only major facility was the Naval Station.

    SimCity42008-01-0317-03-42-51copy.jpg

When the US Bases closed in the Philippines in 1991. The two naval bases that were abandoned (Subic Bay and Punta Joya) were converted to freeports and special economic zones, Punta Joya Naval Station, being a smaller facility, started small with the port converted into a hub for cargo ships in the southern Philippines and a small Logistics center.By 1996, the Economic zone was starting to get filled with locators and plans for expansion and further reclamation were made.

    0b885409.jpg

In 1998, plans were finalized to further expand the Special Economic Zone to position it as a Hub for Logistics in Southern Philippines and the BIMP-EAGA ( a growth corridor in East ASEAN involving the countries of Brunei,Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines). Among the plans were to transfer the already congested Puerto Joya International Airport to the Ecozone and to further expand the freeport and create an International Container Terminal.Grounbreaking commenced in 1999 and by the year 2000 land reclamation and construction of the needed facilities was in full swing

    reclaim.jpg

In 2005, the Export Processing zone was completed and investors hoping to take advantage of the EcoZones benefits and incentives started to come. The Airport and the expanded seaport was completed the following year albeit only the seaport opened as the airport was mired with controversies involving the national government and the contractors of the passenger terminal

The PICT is also the entry port for most imports to the Southern Philippines
