My largest city now has 866.000 inhabitants, but I've just filled about 50 percent of a big map. Transport goes with GLR (20 kilometers track length) and I made my own traffic plugin to avoid a chaos on the roads.

R: 866.000

C: 297.000

I: neighbour city! 2.gif

Yeah and lots off it , but it could be heartbreaking aswell at times . I actualy done more work , preparing for the city rather than in the city .

Every road is one way , one way roads you have total control of routes , every one is measured for distance and density . The city is divided up , all roads lead to highways , everyone is forced to use the highway and they all have accses to every part of the city , so long as they use the highways, i use highways as ringroads ,kind of..Avenues have several major disadvantages when used in a city like this . Plus most of them use the MT anyway .

Obtw commuters do love it ,actualy lol

    Here is my largest city:

Its called Downtown, because it is the heart of my region.

    City:

    The image

    Transport:

    The image

    Residential population: 2,645,404

    Commercial: 1,918,495

    Industrial: 7,199

There is still some room left for the city to grow too.  I have a CJ about this city called The Greater Terran Region if you want to see some close-ups of the city.

    Best,

Oh, i just realised, it's the city In the region, not the region being a city itself. Well if that's so, i'm not quite great. I only got past 500,000 people and 500,000 C, and no industry. I just had industry, and got those industry zones later replaced by commercial zones, so, for the industry, it's all about it in the neighbooring cities.

I dont lurk everyday , sorry late reply  , i found census on here ,simtropolis stex  Repositary Census building ,Ripplejet/raphial ninja creators ,i think ,as a reward . It should still be here somewhere i hope.

I like the info it gives also ,it seems pretty accurate although i didnt give they city settling time after reloading it , you know that used to always worry me ,ive seen the reload traffic count indicaters take there reload plummet and never recover , i exited without save many times building that city ,sometimes after maybe an hours play, if it didnt feel right exit without save .

    Hey ac94,

My biggest city thus far is Caphay:

    Residential: 2,550,622

    Commercial: 1,564,111

    Industrial: 102,429

    City Funds: $91,398,878

    citycaphaylh7.jpg

Second Biggest is Industria (although Aventura recently passed it):

    Res: 1,439,522

    Com: 773,179

    Ind: 352,964

    Funds: $36,681943

    cityindustriadv5.jpg

    Third is Aventura:

    Res: 1,436,607

    Com: 906,443

    Ind: 99,569

    cityaventurawm2.jpg

They're all part of the second region I ever worked on:

    bigcitytw7.jpg

The big cities are fun for the skyscrapers, but goodness do they become monotonous after a while.

Btw, I've heard about cities in the 3-5m or even greater range. I'd love to see those :-)

    Cheers!

Edit:- Gridlock:, wow, that's awesome! Can you tell me, btw, where you got that CAM Repository Facility chart from?

Mine biggest city was Gorun Nova with 6,5 mln sims. The second biggest city was called Karnadas and it has almost 6 mln sims. The entire region where those city was, had almost 90 mln sims (3 x big city, medium city has usually 1,5 - 2 mln sims). I destroyed that region long time ago.

JEEZ, and for a minute I thought I had too much time on my hands!

My largest city is Vivec, as my city names are simply named from Morrowind and Oblivion and is loosely based upon it, but my idea was to make a very large city over a bunch of little islands. So far Vivec has around 1.3 million residents, and 800,000 or so commercial jobs and around 150,000 commercial ones. Still have plenty of opened space too! 9.gif

why would that be annoying? A network of one way roads, meaning multiple lanes can be quite effective when handling traffic.

BTW: SIMBOX! That looks absolutely incredible! I cant wait to see what that looks like when its done, please do keep us posted!

Dogma- Thats acctually an alright looking large city... I can barely make out the individual city edges, looks nicely sewn together.

And I feel it would be annoying because I live in an area just like it, filled with one way streets and it annoys me something rotten, having to drive round in circles to get to certain place. In Sim City it might be useful, but in real-life practice it just seems like a simple solution to poor city planning 3.gif
