  1. Help Identifying a Plugin

Hey CaptCity, Thanks! I did just that, and did indeed have z_Euro Road Textures Mod folder, which I took out. The problem is that, well, the problem's still there :-(
  2. Hey guys, I am wondering whether anyone here could help me figure out what plugins are changing the texture of my road. My roads look like this now: Can Anyone tell me why that is, and what I can do to get them back to normal? Thanks in advance!
  3. It looks like that's what did it! Thank you warrior! I'm embarrassed that it was something so small. Only, I never used the lefthand plugin before. Very odd. Thanks again!!
  4. poshbakerloo, you have my sympathies :-( warrior, that's not the problem. I've never used the left hand plugin. I got the Highway to work again by unclicking the turning lanes option for it during the downloading. But, the monorails and el rails continue to freeze. I'm basically out of ideas at this point. All files were installed in the correct order: NAM (NAM Essentials is not needed for the april 2008 one, but I've tried it with and without), Bridges, Rural HighWay, then SAM. I've run cleanitol, and it didn't detect any older files. I deleted, rather than uninstalled, the previous NAM folder. I had turned it into a DAT file using the DATPacker. Could that be the problem? I'm really not sure what files to hunt for and get rid of to get the monorail and el rail working again :-(
  5. Hey guys, I'm just wondering if anyone here can help me out with this, as it has been driving me crazy for two days now. Basically, I installed the new NAM along with the RHW and SAM, in the correct order, ran the cleanitol files beforehand, etc. When I try to criss-cross the avenues/monorails/el rails in the game, the game freezes for a while. Can anyone tell me how to go about finding what the issue is? I've tried to look for faulty/incompatible plugins, by moving things out of the plugin folder, etc. What I've found is that there are a few folders, including the crucial CAM one which contains many SC4LOT files for the CAM mod. When I turn them into dat files, using the dat file packer, and click on them, windows explorer closes. Can anyone tell me why those particular folders, none of which has anything to do with transporation, seem to be the issue, if they are the issue at all? Could anyone suggest what files to look for else? Thanks in advance!
  6. Hey guys, What have been, to your knowledge, the busiest stations in any of your cities? I get a great kick out of checking out the infos for as many stations as I can, since it's an added set of statistics to keep track of. I haven't kept any records of them, though. Anyway, I only started experimenting with monorails recently, and they're just amazing. I use those 10,000 capacity stations that double/triple as bus and subway stops as well. The busiest ones in my city of Setubal (pop.500k.) have passed the 30k mark in terms of passengers. One of them has thus far got to 37k! Among ferries, I noticed a huge surge in one of them, which is currently handling over 50,000. I have thus far not placed any subway stations in the city. In previous ones, however, the highest any subway/bus station got was 25k. But since there are many of them, it gets a bit diluted. The ridership in several cities has reached hundreds of thousands. I will try to take pics of the data next time I play. But for now, how about you?
  7. Show Us Your Anti-Grid!

For what it's worth, here are some shots from my newest city, Setubal: I *heart* monorails; they're kick-ass. And they're insanely busy in my city, hehe. Notice how there are three trains in the last pic. It's insanely fun to watch them glide through the city like mechanic snakes, hahah. Cheers!

Thanks Lifetec! I'm really getting a kick out of these canals. Too bad I didn't play around with them before. Just as an attachment to the update above: Since the last post, a brand new studio/theatre complex has been constructed just outside the theme park, anticipating the expectedly rapid growth in the entertainment industry in the city: Elsewhere, a new island has been built, and as expected, the demand for a residence there is huge: Cheers!

Thanks very much Mike! UPDATE 11: Lear's Theme Park Hey guys! Since the last update, Lear has grown tremendously, and is now a large city of 440,000. There's a lot of new stuff to show, but for now I wanted to limit myself to the new theme park. I decided it'd be neat to have one near the centre of the city, and settled on an island and peninsula flanked by the canals as the setting: The first problem to consider, of course, concerns admissions. I wanted to have roads surrounding it, rather than fences, since those seemed to confine it way too much. What I settled on were tolls. Basically, anyone can pass through, if they're willing to shell out some bucks. It brings in a few dollars to the city; not much, but still something. To connect it to the already built up areas of the city, I had to zone a few areas. Sure enough, given the perfect location, the buildings started to shoot up instantly: With that out of the way, the actual building could begin. The relatively small size of the park meant that I had to be highly selective when choosing which MAAP buildings to plop. But I think this worked to my advantage, since this is basically my first theme park. Here are the results: And here's the whole complex: The park did need, of course, a parking facility. So: And I figured if you have that, why not have a stadium adjacent to the park as well? Ok, that's it for now. Hope you guys enjoyed it. Cheers!
  10. Show us your Night Shots!

Well, I've been taking several night-shots for my Cj recently, and this is the most recent one. It's not perfectly aligned, sadly, but I think it's still one of my better ones. No photoshopping beyond re-sizing it and rendering it a bit sharper: Cheers!

Thank you s_olah! Here's a mosaic of two of the new skyscrapers that have been springing up in Lear. I must say, I'm very satisfied with the rapid growth of the city: Cheers!

Well, this is a tag on to the previous update, just to feature a new cathedral area and an update on the rapid growth on the western side of Lear. Here's the Cathderal on the northern side, flanked by parks: The square before the cathedral: This is the first time I've seen this charming building in any of my cities, and I very much like how it looks: Here is the area at night: While this was going on, I had forgotten momentarily about the west/south section of the area I had built up. I'm amazed at how quickly it's grown: Most of these towers are so big that I'd have to feature them in mosaics to do them justice if I were to zoom in closer. Those who've used the same buildings will know what I'm talking about. I expect more of them as the city, which has only 200,000 people right now (though surrounded by a few large ones), continues to grow rapidly. Here is the nightshot of the area: Let me show you a simply citywide pic: As you can see, only a fraction of the city has been built up. You will have noticed the canals in some of the pics above; this is the first time I've played around with those, and they're great. I've had two or three canal sets in my plugins folder for a while now, and am only now starting to use them. I expect to make more frequent use of them in the future. Cheers for now!!

lucky7: thanks! I should note that the association with LA should be viewed as loosely as possible; my basic intention with Adelaide is to experiment with a sprawling urban space (extending over several tiles) which features a mixture of high.medium, and some low density, but which still looks to be liveable. bbfan02: Thank you! Ok folks, I just have a mini-update. This is a continuation of the above update. This time, I want to show you some pics from a city I've newly created since then, which has grown mightily fine in a few years' time: Lear. I apologize for this mosaic not fitting together wholly: To give a sense of how rapidly the city's changing. Before: And after: And to prove to you that the city is not always enveloped in darkness: Ok, that's it for now. Comments and criticism are, as always, welcome. Cheers!
  14. The United Republics of the Pacific

Hello guys! Just in with a new update. Update 10: Pasoa, Brick, and Fields These are just some nightshots from three of my earliest cities. I built them prior to discovering this site (and before my plugin folder started to burgeon, heh), but re-visited them a while ago to re-build various parts, etc. They're medium and small city tiles, which I actually haven't worked on for quite some time. However, they are quite huge, with populations of 760,000 (Fields), 480,000 (Pasoa) and 170,000+ (Brick). Fields also has 820,000 commercial jobs! The first two images are from Pasoa, the two after that (the mosaic) from Brick. The rest are from Fields. Cheers!
  15. Problem with Crashes

Ah, ok, got it. In that case, I don't have compressed files; I just converted almost all the folders into dat files using the datpacker program.
