The stated reason is excessive filesize, which will take up bandwidth, which will make the site run slower, which will increase expenses, etc.

New sig looks good though i agree with Patricius Maximus that it would look better if you removed the Mirowave Power Plant from left side of the sig.

un1:  Thanks a lot!  Ya, everything will get outdated eventually.

    deion30296:  Oh yeah! 9.gif

068664663:  Oh yes they were!  Glad you enjoyed it!

cavscrew1:  Thanks a lot!  Glad you liked the first pic!

Patricius Maximus:  lol!  Glad you enjoyed the tour!

TV-VCR:  Yes indeed it does.  Its a little too early to be celebrating the 1 year anniversary, isn't it? Its not till December...

hamish:  Good for you!  Yes there is a major difference!

rushman5:  Thanks!  No, I already showed those pictures!  Something new will be comming!

hamish (2):  Thanks for your input!  I will take it into consideration!

-Yes indeed I did enjoy the opening ceremony!  It was so epic!

jmoats3:  Thanks a lot!  Glad you liked the region and the updates!  Want tips?  Just look at my updates when I was building the city of Terran Settlement!

Patricius Maximus (2):  Thanks for your input!  I will take it into consideration!

feliwi:  Hey, thanks a lot!  Glad you liked the first picture!

Dsrwhat316:  Long time no see!  Welcome back!  Glad you are still enjoying this CJ!

Hahayoudied:  Thank you very much!  Glad you like the highways!

Twenty20:  Wow, thanks a ton!  Glad you like the road networks!

Markwizz:  In addition to what Patricius Maximus stated, all the custom content I downloaded would not function if you downloaded the region.  You would have to spend hours upon hours downloading everything to avoid the brown boxes.

Patricius Maximus (3):  Well, the raw region is up for download on the STEX.  It is called Eaton, and looks similar to the Greater Terran Region (I terraformed it a bit).

    https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=5315

nihonkaranws:  Nice to see you back!  Glad to hear you like the sig image!

Markwizz (2):  I can link you to Eaton, the region this CJ is based off of.  But I cannot send you my cities or plugins.

    https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=5315

Patricius Maximus (4):  Yes, it also has to do with copyrights of those who made the plugins I use.  All that custom content needs to be downloaded because I am not allowed to distribute their work.  It is part of the rules.

Markwizz (3):  Yes size is a factor and also due to the use of excessive custom content.  If you downloaded my region, you would get brown boxes everywhere.

Cidwm:  Thanks!  Glad you like the new signature!   I will take it into consideration!

    Update time!

Sorry I haven't updated in a bit.  The Olympics are just so good this year that most of my free time is spent watching it!   3.gif

However, I did get some time to configure a special Olympic update!  The next two updates will showcase some of the sports venues and stadiums in The Greater Terran Region.

    Picture Information:

    NOTICE:  Please Read!

Before I post some pictures of my cities, please know that I strive for the best quality of my images possible.  Every picture from here on-in is not photoshopped in any way, and is taken directly from the game to show you exactly what I see in the game.  The only editing done is converting the .PNG file to .JPEG.

***IMPORTANT***    Also, please know that my pictures are COMPRESSED, and are NOT RESIZED! When you resize a picture, a ton of the image's quality is lost, and is shrunk to comply with ST's picture size limits.  Compressing the image retains the quality, but looks terrible when squeezed to comply with site limits.

But, I have found a loophole in this problem.  Each compressed picture displayed will be linked to the actual uncompressed, true image.  All you have to do to view the image in its FULL RESOLUTION (1920x1200) is to simply click on the compressed image displayed in this city journal (800x500).  The reason that the images are not 800x600 is because I present my pictures in widescreen (16:10 aspect ratio), making the image much more appealing for the human eye's stereoscopic vision.

If you have any questions or comments about how I display my images, feel free to post a reply.

Let's begin with The Greater Terran Region's very own Bird's Nest stadium.  Not nearly as large as the one in Beijing, but symbolizes the passion for sport.

The Water Cube if my favorite sports complex in Beijing.  It looks so great that I have constructed a number of them in the region.  They act as municipal aquatic centres.

This multi-purpose stadium has been built along the coastline:

    A baseball stadium in Downtown:

A sports arena is inside this casino.  A lot of boxing/wrestling events take place here:

    A smaller indoor football/soccer stad:

Track and field and tennis courts:

A basketball court is inside "Haljackey Square Gardens"

Another Water Cube and swimming complex along a multi-highway:

    The region's primary sports stadium:

Well, that does it for Olympic update 1 of 2.  I hope you enjoyed it!

Interesting stuff. How did you managed to make segregated highways (4 tiles wide)?

Looks fantastic, although the water cubes don't really look "building-ish", if you know what I mean.

Those venues look great. I like how they blend into the area, and look at home in the GTR.

Have a good time watching the Olympics, Hal.

I just like the water sports, so I'm going to watch that.

Looking forward to the next update, but just take your time.

Omg I simply adore the first stadium! Looks awesome! A good stadium showcase! 9.gif Keep it up hal!

Also I noticed a really good mix of vanilla/custom content that I'd not noticed before, it a takes a lot of skill to mitigate the two! Props!

Great Olympic showcase! You've certainly captured the spirit of Beijing...or at least the side of it they let foreigners see.

Nice BAT's of Olympic stadiums. Too bad that they're not being held in the Greater Terran Region where it looks like, despite all the roads, that pollution is not as bad a problem.

    Replies:

Tia-may:  Thanks!  You can make these 4 tile wide highways (multi-highways) by using lakeyboy's multi-highway guide on the STEX here:

    https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=4267

068664663:  Wow!  Thanks!  The Water Cubes', I think, add a twist to the otherwise crowded pictures, and the open space and colour of the building provides a much needed break for some of the images.

Patricius Maximus:  Hey, thanks a lot!  Ya, Canada still hasn't won a medal yet 3.gif.  We came close in men's 200m swimming I think losing out to the bronze by like 0.09 seconds.

-Have fun watching the water sports!

un1:  Thanks!  I guess I do have a lot of stuff from Beijing.  I never really knew that 3.gif

rainyday:  Lakeyboy's multi-highway download is a GUIDE, not a MOD.  All it is is a "readme" file which explains how to make a multi-highway.  You can make multi-highways without any downloads whatsoever.  (Not even the NAM!)

penguin007:  Thank you!  Glad you like the Water Cube!  I will show more in part 2!

rainyday (2):  Hey, thanks a lot!  You can download the white sunken highway walls here:

    https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=12982

    Cidwm:  Thanks a lot!

Psycho_Teddy:  Great!  Glad you like the first picture!  I hope you enjoy part 2 of the showcase!

-Yes it does take some skill when you try to blend maxis/custom content into your cities.  Experience is everything!

hamish:  Thanks!  I think it does too!

-Ya it sucks to hear about the Opening Ceremonies' fakeness.  I loved watching it!  That little girl should have sang that song!  I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the fireworks, and its a good thing, because most of those were fake/previously recorded/edited too.

spore415:  Hey, thanks a lot!  Maybe we should lol!

Mr. Monorail Man:  I have no idea what tower that is 3.gif.  Would you be able to show me the picture?  (I am not from the USA, and have never watched this "Today Show")

edmonton_stinks:  Why thank you very much!   Yes, its the side of Beijing they want us to see! 3.gif

dfnva:  Thanks! Olympics in this region?  It's possible, but we would have to also cut the amount of cars on the roads by 50% not just to reduce pollution, but congestion!

    Update time!

Not too much to state here.  This is part 2 of 2 of the Olympic Showcase.  Enjoy!
