    godjcjk12:  Hey, thanks a lot!

Smarty218:  Thanks!  I know about that bug, but I'm too lazy to reduce resolution and load every city for a region shot.  3.gif

edmonton_stinks:  Thank you!  You watched the whole thing this time?  Thanks for your comments!

    kj3400:  Ya, I guess so.  3.gif

-What an end to the video, eh?  The bus drivers need to keep on schedule!

Xyloxadoria:  Ya, maybe I should increase mass-transit funding to retrain them eh?

nihonkaranws:  Thanks!  What about the video?

Jim1994:  Thanks!  Ya, there are some bugs, but I am working them out.  I have installed the 8800GT, and all pictures/videos you see hereon in are from that card.

Fresh Prince of Wmbg:  Hey, thanks a lot!

fusion_lemon:  lol, mabe I should have made it fast-forward???  Thanks for your comments!

Patricius Maximus:  It would be?  Thanks for your comments!

    jacqulina:  Thanks a lot!

Rictiovarus:  Great!  Glad you enjoyed it!

    thinboy66:  Hey, thanks a lot!

-To get a lot of residential demand, I have very low taxes and the areas I zone are full of parks, transit, and close to jobs.

ky72x:  That's okay!  The last updates are still posted 3.gif

-About the nighttime mod, its good to take pictures and whatnot, but, just getting it to run its cycle when playing the game makes it hard for me to see stuff in the dark of night.  Heck, I had to install a lot more light posts for the highways once I got the mod!

-Glad you like the riverfront photo!

A1N2D3R4E5W6:  Education and health is actually quite good.  I have some large schools that look like office buildings and a few large hospitals.

-Garbage is trucked out to Sim Nation.  This is so the land value stays high in the region.

Patricius Maximus:  Vaporising garbage isn't good for the environment.  The Greater Terran Region is a very eco-friendly region.

    djlee1999:  Thanks a lot!

    un1:  Hey, thanks a lot!

-I got the nighttime mod from Gizmo's SC4 site.  You can find it here, but you have to register first:  http://www.gizmo.lunarpages.com/

    collgab:  Thanks a lot!

Charles Rodulfo:  Thanks!  That is my next goal!  *Cheers*!

mightygoose:  lol, UDI is great!  Get driving mightygoose!

    Update time!

Thanks everyone for your comments!  I am glad you enjoyed the 50th update!

I have a few development and before/after photos to show you this time.  As Terran Settlement continues to expand, the demand put on the infrastructure increases.  It must be prepared to handle its load or else abandonment will follow construction.

    Picture Information:

    NOTICE:  Please Read!

Before I post some pictures of my cities, please know that I strive for the best quality of my images possible.  Every picture from here on-in is not photoshopped in any way, and is taken directly from the game to show you exactly what I see in the game.  The only editing done is converting the .PNG file to .JPEG.

***IMPORTANT***    Also, please know that my pictures are COMPRESSED, and are NOT RESIZED! When you resize a picture, a ton of the image's quality is lost, and is shrunk to comply with ST's picture size limits.  Compressing the image retains the quality, but looks terrible when squeezed to comply with site limits.

But, I have found a loophole in this problem.  Each compressed picture displayed will be linked to the actual uncompressed, true image.  All you have to do to view the image in its FULL RESOLUTION (1920x1200) is to simply click on the compressed image displayed in this city journal (800x500).  The reason that the images are not 800x600 is because I present my pictures in widescreen (16:10 aspect ratio), making the image much more appealing for the human eye's stereoscopic vision.

If you have any questions or comments about how I display my images, feel free to post a reply.

Updated as of March 28th, 2008: All images hereon in are in a higher resolution! (1920x1200 instead of 1440x900).  Make you sure you click on 800x500 photos in the CJ to see them in excellent quality!

Remember the area where the bus crashed into my police van in the video?  This prompted the city to improve this intersection.  The One way roads have been extended past the avenue to the road and the avenue upgraded to a RHW.

    https://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii281/haljackey/TerranSettlement-Dec27221211160810.jpg

The new station is nearly completed.  The road near it is getting some work done as well.

    https://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii281/haljackey/TerranSettlement-Dec30221211161362.jpg

The texture glitch on the avenue/ground highway interchange is still there, but not as appearent with my new graphics card.  Note the new work on the avenue to the north of the interchange.  (the parking lot on the highway has since been turned back into a highway)

    https://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii281/haljackey/TerranSettlement-Jul30221211159816.jpg

The avenue now bypasses this area of industry.

    https://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii281/haljackey/TerranSettlement-Jul28221211159799.jpg

At the end of the overpass, a new interchange with another highway has been built.

    https://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii281/haljackey/TerranSettlement-Nov8221211160216.jpg

A new texture glitch.  This is not from my new graphics card, but Vista I suppose.  I am not a fan of Vista.

    https://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii281/haljackey/TerranSettlement-Feb7231211161718.jpg

However, it looks fine zoomed out.

This RHW is about to get a major overhaul.

    Ah, there we go 9.gif

    https://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii281/haljackey/TerranSettlement-Feb11231211163356.jpg

And a angled shot of the new interchange so you can see the whole thing:

Haven't been around here in a while. I like that video - perfect ending, as others have stated.

That 8800 Graphics card looks amazing. I never saw the tree shadows in that much detail 3.gif

Great RHW system. I'm working on RHW-6's at the moment, to assess their usefulness. In a pilot city, they do really good.

You kept your promise about the 50th update and beyond being good.

I can't wait to see more of that RHW system and those graphics.

Personally I would have put the interchange in the middle (last pic)

You know, I think I see the glitch you were refering to ( 3rd pic)

    Looking good!

Don't blame Vista for the glitchy puzzle pieces. 2.gif

It's just the way the puzzle pieces were coded... Tarkus even admitted that he took a couple of shortcuts on the pieces, but it'll be fixed in v21.

    Interesting developments are afoot. 3.gif

As always, great images of the interchanges. But perhaps its a little strange to have those holes in the ground where the avenue and rail lines peek through?

P.S Whats that funky futuristic I-HT building in the fourth picture?

heres my view of ur cj:

pros: great, high detail transit system, good use of skyscrapers, overall detailing and complexity of the city, impressive amount of custom content(bats and stuff)

cons:region looks a bit dull, some brown boxes(on purpose?), unused/damaged buildings(on purpose?), a bit too crowded.

    NICE CJ!

    Evil.

Patricius Maximus:  Hey, thanks a lot!  I never noticed a tree shadow until you told me 3.gif

kj3400:  Well, with the current MIS, the RHW can only have RIRO (right in, right out) exits/entrances.  Don't worry though, you will see what I did with the median in this update!

jacqulina:  Thanks!  Your comments are always welcome!

un1:  Thanks!  Yes, but again, it is no biggie.

Skram:  Thanks!  All right, I'll keep it going... I guess.. . 9.gif

Shingure:  Hey, thanks a lot!  For more RHW examples, check out the links in my signature.

Smarty218:  lol, someone had to get it 11.gif!  Thanks a lot for all your comments! I hope my RHWs help inspire you!

    dfnva:  Thanks, its always appreciated!

edmonton_stinks:  I couldn't have said it better myself!

Shadow_Assassin:  Well, I haven't noticed this glitch until I got a new computer, so for now I was blaming Vista.

-However, it is nice to know that this glitch won't last forever.  Thanks for letting me know and thanks for leaving a comment!  I hope you are enjoying this CJ!

etherian:  Thanks!  Don't worry, those holes will be taken care of in this update!

Evil_Someone:  Always great to have some constructive criticism!  Thanks for your comments (pros).  About the cons, I can say that I am aware of them.

-My region can use a lot of work, but my region is a huge work in progress.

-The brown boxes have since been fixed.  They have only appeared in the first few updates.

-About the unused/damaged buildings, thats just natural urban decay for you.  It is common in every city, and they have their good time and bad times.  Abandonment is a rare occurrence here, but it can happen.  Most of it is just decay (from R$$$ to R$$)

-I know it is a bit too crowded.  My latest city (Terran Settlement) is designed with this in mind, and is much more open than the other cities I have showcased so far like Mighty Mouth and Downtown (hene the name downtown, it is supposed to be crowded!)

    Update time!

This update will show some improvements to the road network in Terran Settlement, both from a functionality perspective as well as visuals.

    Pictures:

Click on the Images to view them in Full Resolution (1920x1200)!  (Please see my PICTURE INFORMATION on my first post on this page if you are new here.  Thanks!)

Here we see the rail underpass from the last update.  It no longer looks dull!

The avenue tunnel.  Note the retaining walls and safety features added:

Roads are layed in place in preparation for development:

    Roadwork by the new station:

Roadwork complete.  The station just needs power to work now!

A rail station is being built at the end of the new viaduct.

Anyways, that does it for now, stay tuned for a lot more!

Very good. I think I've gotten used to your new graphics (I'm not overwhelmed by it 9.gif).

Great RHW work. I've never seen so many lane shifts in one stretch.

Looking forward to seeing the area developed.

A little (or a lot) flora always does wonders to cities.

Am I correct in saying I have never seen streets being constructed in this journal? That adviser must be on you all the time with that Roads Rule in ... thing 9.gif

Hey everyone, just a quick informative update about the site outage.

Because of the "semi-catastrophic loss of data", many of the updates are incomplete and few images have remained.

I assume that, at first glance, about 90% of the images posted here have been lost.  However, I do keep backups, and I assume that about 90% can be restored in time.

This means that a good margin of pictures have been lost, (assuming 7-10%), and its something we all have to live with (for the time being anyway).

This CJ will try to multi-task for the next little while trying to post new updates and repairing old ones as well.  This will take some time, and I appreciate your patience as we all try to cope with this loss of data, posts and images.

    So...

    The image

In short, the CJ is under repairs, however I will still do what I can to post new updates.

    Best,

    -Haljackey.

Yes, it was due to a malicious code implanted into the forums, according to a report.

I personally think it was another EA cyber-attack. They have been occuring with increasing frequency since SCS was released....

Anyway, good thing you made backups.

Good luck with your endeavours Haljackey, I was lucky myself as my journal is still in its infancy and the damage was rectifiable relatively easily.

Any help you need just yell or may be even a PM 3.gif

You may also post in the Super Sticky Directory with links to (some of?) your affected posts, perhaps the moderators will have a more effective solution than manual restoration!

    Thanks your replies everyone!

I have some news!  I managed to restore many past updates!  90% of the content in these updates has been restored!

However, I did find some problems along the way.  I have been unable to restore:

    -Page 16

    -Page 20

    -Part of Page 21

    -Page 22

    -Page 23

This means that I will have to rebuild/remake these updates in these pages as best I can.  I figure that everything forward of page 20 has not been Cached since they are recent. However, page 16 is an exception.

If anyone can find the Caches for these pages please PM me ASAP.  I appreciate your patience!

    Best,

    -Haljackey
