deion30296:  You did??? Where?  I would like to have a look!  (They PM system has been really screwed up recently due to the site outages).

-Thanks for the link! I will take a look at that!

edmonton_stinks:  Hey, thanks a lot!  Its a unique interchange because it connects directly to the station.

penguin007:  I do what I can to keep this CJ active.  I am glad you enjoyed the update!

    Update time!

I finally have a new update to post!  Sorry for the delay everyone, RL has been killing me and getting a Playstation 3 has not made things any better... GTA IV is just awesome!

I have a smaller update this time, but quite an interesting one!

    Picture Information:

    NOTICE:  Please Read!

Before I post some pictures of my cities, please know that I strive for the best quality of my images possible.  Every picture from here on-in is not photoshopped in any way, and is taken directly from the game to show you exactly what I see in the game.  The only editing done is converting the .PNG file to .JPEG.

***IMPORTANT***    Also, please know that my pictures are COMPRESSED, and are NOT RESIZED! When you resize a picture, a ton of the image's quality is lost, and is shrunk to comply with ST's picture size limits.  Compressing the image retains the quality, but looks terrible when squeezed to comply with site limits.

But, I have found a loophole in this problem.  Each compressed picture displayed will be linked to the actual uncompressed, true image.  All you have to do to view the image in its FULL RESOLUTION (1920x1200) is to simply click on the compressed image displayed in this city journal (800x500).  The reason that the images are not 800x600 is because I present my pictures in widescreen (16:10 aspect ratio), making the image much more appealing for the human eye's stereoscopic vision.

If you have any questions or comments about how I display my images, feel free to post a reply.

Updated as of March 28th, 2008: All images hereon in are in a higher resolution! (1920x1200 instead of 1440x900).  Make you sure you click on 800x500 photos in the CJ to see them in excellent quality!

The first two photos break down that huge multi-highway interchange I posted a not too long ago for northbound traffic.

    1.  Discrete interchanges for collector and express lanes. (No transfers.)

Light Red:  Collector lanes (outer lanes)

Dark Red: Express lanes (inner lanes)

    i138662_TheInterchangeMar.4001213061251k

    2.  Full connectivity.  (With transfers.)  Since this involves both collector and express lanes, colour coding is not necessary.

A new city museum has finally opened in the south end of town.  Much of the art community and tourism board have been pushing the city to build one, and build the city did.

    TerranSettlement-Feb263112133850-1.jpg

A look at some new road alignments as the gap between the two cities (Downtown and Terran Settlement) gets shorter and shorter.  Soon the urban area of both cities will meet, and Terran Settlement will become a part of the civic metropolitan area.

    TerranSettlement-Jul18311213897922.jpg

A central look at the new interchange joining the avenue to the RHW.  It has gotten quite busy recently, as more and more sims are commuting between cities.

-Also note the new RHW texture.  I am not too sure if I will keep these, because there are texture problems with the diagonal pieces and smooth curves.

    TerranSettlement-Jun17311213897794.jpg

Anyways, I told you it would be short... Stay tuned for the next update!

    Best,

    -Haljackey

A very nice update. I like the fact that Terran Settlement and Downtown is conurbating. I'm sure the area will be very interesting.

What kind of Mods are you using, would you be kind to list them if it's not any trouble, with the link source too?

    Thx

I like the dense area and all the ramps for the interchanges, you did well with a small amount of space.

penguin007:  Thanks for your comments!  Yes that interchange is complicated!

    Patricius Maximus:  Thanks a ton!

seopro007:  Wow, sorry I made the room smokey!

-I use a ton of mods, about 2.5 GB of them.  If I listed them there would be hundreds.  I got most of my mods from the STEX and SC4D's LEX.  If you are requesting one thing or two, I and help you with that.

dfnva:  Hey, thanks a lot!  Yes, that interchange is compact yet there is still tons of space.  This was made with the future kept in mind.

Jim1994:  Glad to hear you like it!  I can't really explain how I did it, but it took a creative mind and hours of work.

Tommy7777:  So would I.  It took several hours to complete.

edmonton_stinks:  Yes, but DTP is working on them I think.  Thanks!

jacqulina:  Thanks!  Always great to read your posts!

Nemesis666:  It is, isn't it?  Skill and creativity is required, thats for sure!

Inspecter:  Thanks a lot!  Glad you like the interchanges!

Update time!  The beauty of the city.

This update features a ton of close-up shots of Terran Settlement, The Greater Terran Region's first settlement.  Only recently has dense development occurred here, as it was mainly a large forest to begin with.  Thus, a lot of forested areas and parks are in the city, making the city appear very green.

A great showcasing of the Terran Settlement in it's evolved state. I like the revisiting of previous locations; we can see them from the time they were rural to dense urban city.

I like all the parks. In short, it's my kind of development.

Looking forward to the next development. Is there going to be development out west in the rural parts near the cloverstack? Or is that in the far future?

Patricius Maximus:  Yes it is.  Glad you enjoyed the re-visiting of some areas!

-Development in the more rural areas of the GTR are planned for the far future.

    Update time!  Canada Day Special!

    canadian_flag.jpg

Happy Canada Day everyone!  I have a special video update for you today!  It is another UDI video, as I showcase some of the roads in the city of Terran Settlement.  It gets a little too dark at the end, and I am sorry about that.  Future videos will not include the darker night time mod that I use.

-A high-quality video is linked to this post.  Just click on the file and it should play on your default media player.

A Youtube video box should appear below.  If you can't see it or are having problems, follow the link below it.  Make sure you turn up your speakers!

A High-quality video should be found below.

I hope everyone has a great Canada day! A happy early Independence Day to all the Americans out there!

A nice video for Canada Day. Thanks for the information on the rural development. It's the same answer I'd give if someone asked me that about my region 2.gif.

I had no problem with the darker night mod in the video. It looked very realistic to me.

I'm looking forward to the next development in GTR.

    Update time!

Not a huge update today, but an interesting one to say the least.  This update showcases how cities in the Greater Terran Region are not just 100% skyscrapers, but include a lot of forested areas and open areas.  This city was once a forest, and the mayor respects the need for preservation.  You will also see some ongoing development in this update as well.

    Pictures:

Click the images for full resolution!  See my picture information section on the first update of this page for more info.

The new east-west highway you see in this photo was built adjacent to a protected forest.  Multiple overpasses will keep traffic moving while the forest floor remains untouched.

    TerranSettlement-Dec17311214932353.jpg

Looking at a new roundabout intersection in the outsets of town.  This connection allows different road alignments to come together and create a more efficient road system.

    TerranSettlement-Jun16311214929533.jpg

Some new zones have been laid near the coast.  The trees along the coast have not been removed to hold in the soil, preventing landslides.  A seawall could also do this, but it is much more expensive and takes away from the natural beauty of the area.

    TerranSettlement-Feb1321214933044.jpg

A look at an important highway junction.  The wide median preserves the forest and another northbound lane starts here, increasing the highway's capacity.

A new T-interchange along the coast.  This will aid traffic congestion in the area which has increased steadily over the years.

    TerranSettlement-Jul14311214929773.jpg

The terminus of the new east-west highway ends here at this intersection.  Although large, it respects the forest around it.

An overview of the western industrial area.  The RHW constructed in the protected corridor along the edge of the area aids truck traffic exit the city.

Lastly, a development photo near the new transit station.

    TerranSettlement-Dec3311214932265.jpg

I hope you enjoyed this update!

For all you Americans out there, Happy Independence Day!  Enjoy your holiday!

    Best,

    -Haljackey
