un1:  Yay FAR!  Thanks for the comment!

kj3400:  Yes it has.  Hehe, me too!  Thanks!

JJC12321:  Wow!  I got most of em on the STEX and LEX, yes.  On the STEX, try hitting the "popular" and "highest rated" links to find a ton of content that I use.

Patricius Maximus:  Me too.  Thanks for your comments!  Terran Settlement is my newest city (other than Witburg), and I gain experience as time goes on.

    edmonton_stinks:  Thanks!  Ya, me too!

Alafel:  lol!  A little bit back I posted your sig image here to get some feedback.  Maybe you should check out what the response to it was!

-Yes, GTR is far from vanilla, but Maxis still exists.  Some of the original buildings can blend in quite nicely with custom content.  The SC4 Community has accomplished a lot.  Just look at the NAM!  Without it this CJ would NOT exist!  The NAM is used in every pic!

Godzillaman:  hehe... How many plugins you have?  I am at 2.5 gigs.

-Like the seawalls, good!  It takes a little getting used to...

    jacqulina:  Hey, thanks a lot!

suplado!:  Thanks!  Glad you enjoy the highway systems and the curves!

    Theirishnintendonerd:  Thanks a lot!

-hmm.  I always thought Dublin was decent.  Maybe you should show the transportation dept this CJ! 3.gif

Twenty20:  Thanks!  Yep, lots of growth!

TV-VCR:  Aslode?  lol!  Thanks for all the comments!

Ferrari_Spider:  All my BATs suck, really really bad.  3.gif

    -Simple answer: No.

ryannayr140:  Wow!  How long did it take you to read it?  Thanks a lot for the comment!

rusty_777:  Thanks!  Glad you like those pictures!

-A loss for words?  I get that a lot 3.gif

wishfulanthony:  lol, you came back!  Welcome!

-Thanks for all the comments!  I am glad you are still enjoying the GTR!

    Update time!

So... What's going on in downtown?  You know, that huge city with 3.2 million sims?  I haven't posted an update about it in a bit, so the next two will focus on it.  I hope you enjoy it!

A traffic jam along a GLR-in ave, intersecting a RHW expressway in the city's southwest.  Traffic jams are common in this dense city, but the sheer size and quality of its infrastructure keep it from reaching total gridlock.

The last few open areas in the city are being rapidly consumed with highrises.

This picture is meant to show the actual roads of the city, not just the highways.  Note how they carve themselves through the skyscrapers in a non-grid setup.

The sheer complexity of your transportation networks never fails to amaze me. I always looks so improbable, and yet it all just seems to work.

I'll get around to the signature. Eventually. (Right now most of my energy is going into terraforming a region which, after it was almost ready to build on, I scrapped and doubled the size because I'm a perfectionist...) And yes, I did read the comments. Note that this does not mean I remember what they said... I think there was some issue about the power plant looking out of place... I'll have to go back and check on that.

Hahayoudied:  I have high demand and land value.  When a new area is zoned, it develops rapidly!  (I zone very few areas at a time to keep demand up)

Theirishnintendonerd:  Thanks!  Hehe, thanks!  Glad you like the change!

flame1396:  Glad you liked it!  Thanks for the comment!

GreekMan:  Wow, thanks a ton for your comments!

-Check the NAM traffic simulators for changing traffic amounts/types.  I think I use simulator A on hard.  You can use a more radical one to pour a ton of traffic onto your roads!

    -I use Rush Hour.

Godzillaman:  Hey, thanks!  I try to keep em as high-definition as possible.  Its a shame I can't post PNGs though @ 3.5mb per pic  3.gif

rushman5:  It is, isn't it?  Of course I am using the sandstone curves.  They are fantastic!

Alafel:  It is complex, I'll give you that 3.gif.  Take your time with the signature.  I would advise against using the power plant as others have.

    blue sinjid:  Thanks a lot!

    edmonton_stinks:  You can??? 3.gif

-Actually that 7-avenue intersection really relives traffic congestion.  In that area you can totally bypass this junction if you are going straight through, so you only need to use the intersection if you are turning.

    SirUnger:  Hey, thanks a lot!

Jim1994:  Thank you and etc! 3.gif

SimHoTToDDy:  Don't they?  I love em!  Thanks!

beebs:  Thank you very much, Mr. EOTM!

kj3400:  Thanks, and thanks!  Glad you are enjoying this CJ!

txrailnut07:  Your first post is here?  I'm honured!  Thanks so much!  Glad it "inspires" you!

    Update time!

This is the second (and final) update showcasing my largest city as it continues to grow more and more.

    Pictures:

Click the images for full resolution! (1920x1200)  See my picture information section on the first update of this page for more info.

In the early days of the city, many RHWs were built to connect the city to its neighbour, Crossings, to the south (Crossings is the oldest city in the GTR).  Most of the RHWs ended when they entered what was the edge of the city at that time.  Today, the city has expanded all the way to the boarder, overshadowing the RHW connections like this one:

    Downtown-Feb252331222477999.jpg

Here's an older, lower capacity RHW/elevated highway interchange.  Some may say it is a diamond, others say its a volleyball.  The truth is its actually in its own unique class, sharing attributes of both.

    Downtown-Feb242331222477960.jpg

A old-school, pre-MIS interchange which still exists to this day.  Due to space constraints, and the heavy traffic use, the city has decided not to change this to MIS because more land would be consumed and construction would cause backups.

    Downtown-Feb232331222477938.jpg

However, not all interchanges are to be left as they are.  This interchange is being upgraded to MIS.

    Downtown-Feb212331222477907.jpg

An interesting shot of 3 types of RHWs in the city south.

    -A multi-RHW

-A sunken RHW (with old textures)

    -A classic RHW

    Downtown-Feb172331222477841.jpg

Looking at another RHW connector in the city's south.  Heavy traffic jams are common when the highway reaches its termini.

    Downtown-Feb122331222477766.jpg

New developments in the city's north.  3 Identical towers overlook the huge monument.  The mayor frequently visits this place.   48.gif

    Downtown-Dec282321218428444.jpg

Looking at another connecting RHW.  Note the at-grade GLR crossing.

    Downtown-Apr222321222475109.jpg

A section of a large mass-transit interchange in the city's west.  This is where all the lines combine to form the huge mass-transit network that reaches the main stations in Witburg.

    Downtown-Apr162321222475049.jpg

I'll end this update with one of the many tight stack interchanges found in Downtown.

    Downtown-Apr142321222475010.jpg

Well, that does it for this update.

Stay tuned!  I have something special planned for the next update! (Hint Hint 4.gif)

    Best,

    -Haljackey

Sorry that I missed an update -- I've been rather busy.

Fantastic showcase of Downtown. I like the classic RHW's.

Here's an older, lower capacity RHW/elevated highway interchange.  Some may say it is a diamond, others say its a volleyball.  The truth is its actually in its own unique class, sharing attributes of both.quote>

I see someone has been reading the Patrician Showcase....

I think that that pre-MIS interchange that won't be upgraded will be one of the few left in the entire SC4 community,

    I like that stack.

Lastly, thanks for your comments in Franklin. It's recently exceeded 1000 comments.

Dense, dense and denser! I like the last interchange you seem to have some great use for it always. Picture number 5 with the sunken RHW is amazing. Keep up the great work.

    Cheers

Heya haljackey.  I liked your 10/04 update.  The large avenue intersection scaries me though.  Glad I don't have to drive through that!  Some interesting BATs in the 2 pictures after that.  I like the recentest (?? haha bad grammar) update too.  Esp the use of  greenery & trees.  Nicely done!2.gif
