Whoa!  Talk about a lot of replies!  I didn't even do an update this time! 3.gif

I will do what I can to respond to your replies...

    Replies:

un1:  Thanks!  I will continue to update my archives while my SC4 is out of commission.

etherian:  Really?  That sucks!  Thanks for the comment!

Fresh Prince of Wmbg:  Ouch.  My motherboard was over 5 years old, so it was due to crap out on me sometime...

Patricius Maximus:  Thanks for the reply.  I hope it will be speedy as well.

    edmonton_stinks:  Thanks!  No problem!

dfnva:  Thanks, but it will be expensive.

NMUSpidey: So do I.  Thanks for the comment!

Smarty218: Ya it happens to everyone.  With a 5 year old motherboard, it was bound to happen sometime...

    068664663: Yes it is.

    kj3400:  Thanks for your concerns!

Charles Rodulfo:  I hope so too!  Have fun looking through the 47 updates!

collgab:  ....And it happened to YOU TOO!  Sorry to hear about that.  I hope you can get it fixed!

    -Thanks for your comments!

    thinboy66:  Ya, so do I.

neongamer: So a lurker comes from the shadows when there is NOT an update??? Maybe I should have more breakdowns...

-Nah, just messin with ya!  Thanks for posting a comment!  Thanks for your concerns!

Shingure:  Yes I hope so too.

Explodingsims:  LOL. irony, eh?    Thanks for noting your concerns!

jrhnemo:  Welcome back!  Don't worry, this City Journal is far from dead!

-Its just a bump in the road for now.  Its happened before (picture uploading issues, later restored).  Just sit tight for now!

jacqulina:  Yes it is.  Thanks for your concerns!

    Good News Everyone!

I have confirmed that my hard drive was not damaged when the motherboard busted.  This means that all my files/plugins/photos from SC4 should still be intact!

I have also purchased a new desktop PC for a good price.  Here is a link to the computer I bought for those who are interested:

    http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0926INGFS10097817&logon=&langid=EN

With 3GB of RAM, and a quad-core processor, this should make SC4 run more smoothly.  I also plan to upgrade the graphics card sometime soon.  I am not a Vista fan (as many of you already may have known 3.gif), but I do have Vista on my laptop (which I am on now), so I do know how the system works.

Anyways, once I get my new computer set up and SC4 installed, then I will start transferring files from my old hard drive to the new one.

At the moment things are looking up for the Greater Terran Region.  I should have everything sorted out and up and running in no time!

    Your patience is greatly appreciated.

    Best,

    -Haljackey

Oh... That is really good... I was enjoying this CJ!!!

If you are getting a Vista there is many things to look out for...

    Just to warn you...

I use Vista on my laptop which I have SC4 on...

    Good to hear!

(Another) word of warning about Vista, SC4 is not guaranteed to run on that OS even though there are more than a few posts on the net detailing how to fix it. I'm surprised un1 got it running actually! As you said, you have used Vista, but if I was in that situation, I would be putting XP on that new shiny computer instead 3.gif

    Yes! A few things:

    1. Good to hear that your CJ is back on track!

    2. That is a really great price!

    3. I didn't know you were Canadian.

That's really great news. Especially the computer, that's one heck of a deal. Best Buy is awesome. 9.gif

    un1:  Wow, thanks!

-I have Vista on my laptop, so I know how to handle this "untamed animal". 2.gif

    etherian:  Thanks!

-Well I got SC4 to work in Vista with no difficulties, so "upgrading" to XP is not needed. 3.gif

    edmonton_stinks:  3 replies for you:

    1.  Thanks!

    2.  Wasn't it?

    3.  No?  It says so in my profile (click my avatar).  49.gif

ky72x:  Yes indeed.  Ya, that was a steal, eh?

lucky7:  Hehe... good to know this delay didn't distract you!

    jacqulina:  Hey, thanks a lot!

-I am liking this computer a lot! (Aside from Vista and the graphics card.)

Patricius Maximus:  Thank you for your response!  Glad you are awaiting the return of this City Journal!

Smarty218: WOOT! Indeed.  Thanks a lot!

    Update time!

Yes.... I actually have an update for you this time!  SC4 is running fine on my new computer and Vista seems to accept it.  I have successfully transfered all of my plugins as well, making it seem like nothing happened at all!

So far in SC4, I have noticed a few graphics problems, but it is nothing major.  This may be eliminated when I upgrade my graphics card sometime this month.  The 3GB of RAM seem to keep SC4 running at a good pace (I had 2GB before).

As for processing power, my old processor was a 3 gigahertz Intel "Pentium IV".  My new one is a 2.2 gigahertz AMD Phenom 9500 quad-core processor.  Although the processing power is smaller, remember that there are 4 of them, and running a application program like SC4 may run better on a quad-core, which can process up to 8.8 gigahertz at a time.

...But getting back to the update, The Greater Terran Region is back from the dead!  I have a major update to celebrate the return of The GTR! (Greater Terran Region)

    Picture Information:

    NOTICE:  Please Read!

Before I post some pictures of my cities, please know that I strive for the best quality of my images possible.  Every picture from here on-in is not photoshopped in any way, and is taken directly from the game to show you exactly what I see in the game.  The only editing done is converting the .PNG file to .JPEG.

***IMPORTANT***    Also, please know that my pictures are COMPRESSED, and are NOT RESIZED! When you resize a picture, a ton of the image's quality is lost, and is shrunk to comply with ST's picture size limits.  Compressing the image retains the quality, but looks terrible when squeezed to comply with site limits.

But, I have found a loophole in this problem.  Each compressed picture displayed will be linked to the actual uncompressed, true image.  All you have to do to view the image in its FULL RESOLUTION (1920x1200) is to simply click on the compressed image displayed in this city journal (800x500).  The reason that the images are not 800x600 is because I present my pictures in widescreen (16:10 aspect ratio), making the image much more appealing for the human eye's stereoscopic vision.

If you have any questions or comments about how I display my images, feel free to post a reply.

Great update. This is the only CJ I know of that has been dead and came back in full vigor.

This is one of those CJ's that refuse to die, but this one went one step furthur: it died, and then came back.

Looking forward to the 49th update....

Welcome back! Great to see the Terran Region back in action.

Regarding the avenue glitch - I'm not exactly sure if I'm looking at the correct problem - is it the smoothest of the ramps? if it is, its most probably a plugin problem, or could simply be fixed by demolishing and re-plopping the overpass.

Patricius Maximus:  Okay, I have to quote this reply:

etherian:  Thanks!  Its the texture of the avenue near the intersection. Nothing major.  I will try what you suggested.

Looking real great there Haljackey! Congrats on the 10k views mark! The heavy rail picture could've done with the RHW-2 underpassing the 6 railtracks tho, would make it alot more realistic. (an overpass is also possible, but less aestetic)

10000 views and the 50th update coming up? This CJ just keeps getting better and better.

    I feel a celebration coming on...39.gif

Do you normally use ground rail? I don't usually see a lot in your pics except at large main stations.
