Whoo, that's one huge region! I've seen a couple maps in here before (I think) but the sheer greatness never really sunk in. The development in those cities is crazy... but at least it looks quite good! Not to mention your transportation talents being top-notch, again. Kudos for the increase in industrial population, keep it up! Neglecting industry is definitely not a smart choice. 3.gif

Nice region shots! Too bad the RHW network isn't on there, but it still looks great. Are you ever going to do suburbs? If you plan to fill that whole thing with highrises, I'll be impressed.

Thanks for pointing it out, I had a feeling it was a mod but haven't really seen it myself.

I see from your most recent update that you have a rendering problem that is also plaguing my region, the bottom end of some tiles just seem to be missing when in region view - my theory is with the resolution of the game, the higher it is, the more susceptible it is to that particular bug. (I'm running mine on 1600x1200)

Great region shot nonetheless, I especially like the transportation map!

caspervg:  Thanks a lot for your comments!  I try to get the "Space consuming" RHW to fit into a dense urban environment with a little bit of creativity.

-The NAM is my best friend!  36.gif

    -Yes, I love SA's Textures!

kj3400:  Thanks!  LOL, yes I plan to rename some of the cities, like "The Interchange".

    warrior:  Thanks a lot!

-I tried the HSR with the bullet train mod.  I have to say that combining the two doesn't look very good, mainly because the support beams from the monorail appear with the support beams for the monorail.  HSR also does not work with the double-height monorail puzzle pieces.

-I like your station though!  You will see it in this update! (I use the bullet train where the HSR should go)

Patricius Maximus:  Is it that amazing?  I never knew! 3.gif

    -Thanks for your comments!

    jacqulina:  Thanks a lot!

    un1:  Thanks!  No problem!

-My best city IS Ultimate City, but it is not in the Greater Terran Region (GTR).

    Explodingsims:  Thanks a lot!

-Yes, it can handle a lot of traffic! 3.gif

ky72x:  Yes it is.  Thanks for all your comments!

-Industry will get a boost once the region grows.  I also plan to make a HUGE Airport!

edmonton_stinks:  Thanks!  Ya, that sucks eh?

-About your question, I honestly don't know.

etherian:  No problem!  Ya, the rendering problem is a pain, but looks allright in developed areas.  I'm running the game @ 1920x1200, the same size as the pictures you see here.

    -Thanks for the comments!

    Update time!

I have a new video to show you!  It is entitled "Highway Partol", showcasing some of the highways in Terran settlement.  Some are urban, some are rural, and some are on their way to be urbanized!

A Youtube Video Box should appear below.  If not, please follow the link below the box.  Thanks!

Don't worry, the video is not as long as it says it is.  I had some problems making the video.  33.gif

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed it!  I am still experimenting with different video capturing and editing software.

    Best,

    -Haljackey

    Great video!!

    2 things:

    1) At the start of the video I saw an at grate railroad crossing on a freeway!! What is with that (yes, I know that the 406 has one but still!!)

    2) That commute time looks terrible!!

At least #2 is what SC4 Rush Hour is for.

Isn't Ultimate City part of the Terran region??

I would like to see a couple of cities that are not part of Greater Terran Region (GTR).

I'm still loving it (the CJ, duh!)!!

I don't know if I've told you, but you have a very extensive highway network. Do you number your freeways and major arteries?

    un1:  Thanks!

    1.  The raised rail/RHW puzzle piece is non-functional as of this moment.  It will be fixed in the next release.  For now I am using a at-grade crossing since there isn't a lot of heavy traffic in this area now.

    2.  Ultimate City is NOT in the Greater Terran Region (GTR).  It is a very old city (it predates when I first installed the NAM!). If you want to see it, I did post a few pics from that city a while back in the Show Us Your Interchanges! thread.

-Here is the link to the page it is on: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=23&threadid=89089&STARTPAGE=6

Smarty218:  Thanks!  Glad you liked it!

etherian:  lol, thanks!  I will think about that 4.gif

kj3400:  Yes you have on many occasions.  I don't really have a numbering system for this region, but I do have a system with Ultimate City (see my reply to un1 and the link there).

    Update time!

I was working on the Multi-RHW in the city's south.  It is now nearly completed to serve a ton of traffic!

Here are a bunch of pictures of the newly upgraded highway:

    Picture Information:

    NOTICE:  Please Read!

Before I post some pictures of my cities, please know that I strive for the best quality of my images possible.  Every picture from here on-in is not photoshopped in any way, and is taken directly from the game to show you exactly what I see in the game.  The only editing done is converting the .PNG file to .JPEG.

***IMPORTANT***    Also, please know that my pictures are COMPRESSED, and are NOT RESIZED! When you resize a picture, a ton of the image's quality is lost, and is shrunk to comply with ST's picture size limits.  Compressing the image retains the quality, but looks terrible when squeezed to comply with site limits.

But, I have found a loophole in this problem.  Each compressed picture displayed will be linked to the actual uncompressed, true image.  All you have to do to view the image in its FULL RESOLUTION (1920x1200) is to simply click on the compressed image displayed in this city journal (800x500).  The reason that the images are not 800x600 is because I present my pictures in widescreen (16:10 aspect ratio), making the image much more appealing for the human eye's stereoscopic vision.

If you have any questions or comments about how I display my images, feel free to post a reply.

Updated as of March 28th, 2008: All images hereon in are in a higher resolution! (1920x1200 instead of 1440x900).  Make you sure you click on 800x500 photos in the CJ to see them in excellent quality!

Hey, hal. Great CJ you've got going here, I just watched your latest video and I can't get over how awesome your transit network is! I also couldn't help but notice how many other vehicles you manage to hit 18.gif aside from that your city gave me a few idea's I can use for my city, so thank you. 2.gif keep up the good work!

Awsome, RHW-Multi, Please don't steal this idea you can help me but I'm going to try to creat a multi lane sunken highway (RHW). If it is good I will make a thread about it.

I have made a great RHW sunken highway before.

Oh MY GOD!!!! That video is immense Haljackey, the network systems you have are astounding.

A few minor things, why do change MIS into OWR so often (like before connecting it to Avenue)

Also what is it when there are hundred's of cars in random directions? and not on roads.

I also noticed that you very often have the bullet skin crossing over RHW, I might be able to fix that and upload somewhere. Speaking of bullet train skin do you have a link for that, I'd like to try it out with HSRP.

Anyway looking forward to your next update.

Beautiful work, I really like the amazing creativity that you have implemented in the creation of these interchanges. The curved portions of road also contribute to realism.

I never noticed those truck generator lots until now... very sneaky! 3.gif Clever use of them to create to construction feel next to the nearly finished railroad overpasses and at the same time, spawn freight tucks to make traffic levels even more realistic.

Spiffy interchanges! First one looks really cool. I like that so-called 'Anti-Grid' layout a lot. It stays true to the grid design, but isn't boring at all and instead, quite unique in its own respect. Development will definitely look good there. 9.gif

Teeparex:  Thanks!  It is really interesting, eh?  Not just a simple highway, its complex infrastructure, man!

    kj3400:  Yes it is.  Thanks!

toki.s:  Hey, thanks a lot!  LOL, ya my driving skills are weak, don't you think?

un1:  Thanks!  Good luck with your project!  I have not made that (yet).

    Smarty218:  LOL, thanks!

warrior:  Whoa!  You okay?  Have you seen my other videos?  Some are even more immense!

-I change the MIS to OWR for three reasons.

    1.  Higher capacity.

    2.  Appearance.  OWR has 2 lanes and makes traffic lights.  MIS doesn't.

    3.  Connectability.  MIS can only connect to other road networks at 90 degrees.  OWR can at 90 and 45 degrees.

-About the cars going all over the place.  That's what happens when I use the sirens on the cop car!  Thats those stupid sims pulling over into a ball of chaos!

-Interesting proposition about the bullet train texture.  I would love to have a texture for crossing RHW and elevated highway (now double height I think)!

-The bullet train skin is from APTX or something like that.  It is from a Japanese site I think.  At the moment rumor has it that the site is currently down and thus the bullet train mod is undownloadable.

nerdly_dood:  Nice to see you drop by 3.gif.  Thanks for the comment!  Hope to see you return!

cjman:  Thanks a lot!  I try to curve whenever I can...

ky72x:  LOL, yes they are there for the rail construction.

-At the moment. the rail over RHW puzzle piece is NOT functional.  That construction site will stay until the next version of the RHW when hopefully a fix will be made.  Then I can simply complete it!

    -Thanks for all your comments!

    edmonton_stinks:  Thanks a lot!

collgab:  Thanks!  Glad you liked it!

    Update time!

I have some more sunken highway work to show you and development around it.

More work on the entrance to the sunken highway.  Note the new bullet train line and the RHW/ave.

The portion of the RHW that makes a very slight curve in the first pictures looks downright cool. Anything different from the norm makes me giddy, especially when it looks that good. 3.gif

Ah yes, the development! It's looking great, and so is that pretty sizable park in the second to last pic. I see that you didn't hesitate to start using the new features of the new NAM, either. 2.gif
