A Hint of What's to Come

January 15th, 0165AL (2021)

Brian and Lil were packing for their trip to New Carpathia, which they would be taking along with Laur, Major Zargolf, during their short break from the RDPM.

While the others are on vacation, Brad and Lt. Black still have some work to do, which is an undercover mission to Amanz, with support form the Amanz government, to gather intelligence on a group of interstellar pirates.

Daniel Jackson has decided to live on Myon, and has become a new member of DPM-14, an archaeological team.

I will also include some pictures of Coraphal the largest city in the Muphridish Empire, because otherwise this update would be too short (and because I don't know what else to do with the pictures). DPM-2 may be heading here at some point as well...

One of numerous manufacturing areas in the city, over half of the city is covered with lo-rise buildings like this. (Lo-rise being a relative term, many of these buildings are similar in size to Earth skyscrapers, and the "ground" is around 160m above sea level)

As nearly the entire city is built on the water, there are many canals cutting though the buildings, as well as many more water-filled tunnels connecting them under the buildings. The ground that you saw in the first picture is actually artificial, built as the city gradually expands. The city spaceports are also built into the buildings, and the canals allow ships to get closer to the docking stations, with doors allowing small ships in, while large ships are transported in by the short-range industrial transporters.

The rest of the city is covered with massive skyscrapers, which commonly reach over 2km into the sky, with the tallest being around 4km. (Higher areas are pressurized) Despite the city being so dense, there is plenty of room, the vast majority of living areas consisting of large high-ceilinged rooms with plenty of living space. Transportation in the city is easy as well, with numerous transporter stations, as well as vertical and horizontal tube transport within buildings. And if you need the exercise, you can take the stairs. (Though I recommend that you take the stairs only for short trips)

Undercover

January 16th, 0165AL (2021)

As Brad watched Brian, Lil, Major Zargolf, and Laur leave on their cross galactic road trip, he wished he could go with them, but he knew he had work to do.

Gen. Yelslew: Lauren Ahrns is going to be here any time now, and after she brings the personal shields, you will be ready...

Brad: What?

Gen. Yelslew: I hear something.

As the room got quiet, they could here a far-off humming sound that was gradually getting louder.

Lt. Black: I can here it too.

They looked out the window to see a starship land in front of the gate, sand as they watched, the humming slowly stopped. There was a flash of light in the center of the room, and Lauren Ahrns appeared wearing the same black dress she was wearing the first time they met, and carrying a large black leather purse.

 Lauren: Hello again.

She put her purse on the table, pulled out two objects similar to what she was wearing on her wrist, and walked over to the others.

 Lauren: These are the personal shields, just press the button to turn them on and off.

Brad: How do we know if it is on or not?

 Lauren: The button lights up if it is on.

She places one of the shields on the table and then presses the button on the other, which lights up, then they hear a short whooshing sound. Brad then pokes the shield with his finger, which can't get closer than 2 inches to Lauren. Lauren then presses the button again, and places the shield on the table.

Gen. Yelslew: Brad and Lt. Black, now that you are ready, go to the Valmal, and good luck.

 Lauren: The Valmal is the ship in orbit, right?

Gen. Yelslew: Yes.

 Lauren: Then you don't need to walk.

Lt. Black: Huh?

 Lauren: I can transport you there.

Lt. Black: Oh, okay.

Lt. Black, Brad, and the personal shields disappeared in a flash of light, and then Lauren turned to General Yelslew.

 Lauren: Is it okay if we talk?

Gen. Yelslew: Wha... Yes

Just then, his communicator beeped.

 Lauren: What was that?

Gen. Yelslew: Brad and Lt. Black are on the Valmal, and they are preparing to leave.

 Lauren: Oh.

As the Valmal prepared to leave, Brad and Lt. Black walked over to their quarters and started to change into the clothes they were going to wear while on Amanz. Because the group they would be spying on is made up entirely of women, Brad would have to pretend to be one. After he had gotten dressed, he walked over to another room, where Lt. Black was already waiting.

Lt. Black: You look a little odd...

Brad: Yes...

For a second it appeared Brad was concentrating on something, then his hair grew longer. He brushed some of it out of his eyes, then looked at Lt. Black.

 Brad: What about now?

Lt. Black: How did you do that?

 Brad: Nanites.

Lt. Black: Oh, yeah.

The Valmal arrived at the co-ordinates about 5 hours later, and Lt. Black and Brad got in the GS-3 and prepared to start the second leg of the journey, a short Wapbervklex jump to Amanz. Brad was flying, (Lt. Black's training was for field combat, not piloting) and shortly after leaving the Valmal, Lt. Black pressed several buttons on the controls, and a wormhole opened in front of them, and the ship flew in.

A couple of minutes later the GS-3 exited the wormhole and cloaked as they headed down to the planet.

Lt. Black: Doesn't look like any planet I visited before.

 Brad: Indeed.

Lt. Black: Also looks like they let some of their houses fall apart...

Brad landed the GS-3 in a small forest clearing in a downtown park, they activated their personal shields, and they got out.

 Brad: Okay, now lets remember where we parked.

Nice Work. However, it appears that either the gate or the GS-3 are out of scale. There should only bed a small amount of space between the ship and gate.

Anyway! Nice story! I'm pretty sure that that planet isn't too friendly.

Undercover, part 2

January 16th, 0165AL (2021)

They walked up to the building on the corner and went inside. Once they were sure no one was watching, Brad pulled out a life signs detector.

 Brad: Okay, there is no one on this floor other than us, 2nd, 4th and 6th floors are empty, there is one person on the 3rd floor, and 7 people on the 5th floor.

Lt. Black: Good, our job is a lot easier if we get there before anyone else does.

They climbed the stairs to the 4th floor, and entered a small room that appeared to be a meeting room. Brad removed part of his left hand, and the separated part first formed into a green ball, then sprouted 4 legs. Brad then took the object and placed it in a potted plant on the windowsill, and they watched as it hid itself in the plant. As the rest of his hand reformed, Brad looked at the life signs detector again.

 Brad: 5 new people just entered the building, do you think it is them?

Lt. Black: I hope so, I don't want to wait for too long.

They walked out of the room and down the hall to an even smaller room, and closed the door. Lt. Black pulled out a tablet computer, and Brad stuck one of the fingers on his left hand into an input port. The screen went from black, to static, to a confused blur of colors, and then to an image of the meeting room, viewed from the potted plant. They watched as the women they had seen earlier on the life signs detector entered the room. The group took out some scanners and began to search the room. Several minutes later they completed the scan, and then closed the window shade behind the plant.

The meeting lasted for about half an hour, during which they talked about an al'Hasiq Masura class warship that was recently discovered, abandon, on an uninhabited planet. The leader of the meeting, Vala, said the planet the ship was located on, Malora, has no stargate, so they would need to gather a fleet to be able to take the planet and hold it until they were able to control the al'Hasiq ship. They planned to take the planet in about 6 months, which should give them enough time to gather up the supplies they needed, without attracting too much outside attention.

After the meeting the group left the building, Brad pulled his finger out of the tablet computer, which went to the desktop.

Lt. Black: Is that saved?

 Brad: Yes.

They began to leave the building, and as they passed the door to the meeting room, the nanite blob squeezed under the door and crawled up Brad's leg. He grabbed it, and it reconnected with his left hand.

Lt. Black: That just seems odd...

 Brad: It still is a part of me, even if it isn't attached.

As they began to walk into the forest to get back to the GS-3, 4 people jumped out from behind them, each pulling out a gun.

Thug: Stop!

They turned around to face the new arrivals.

Thug: Just give us all of your valuables, including those funky glowing bracelets, and you will be okay.

He looked over a the other three people with him, who were all women, and one of them nodded.

Lt. Black: And what if we don't want to?

Thug: Then I stun you.

He fired his gun at Lt. Black, which did absolutely nothing because of her personal shield. Lt. Black then pulled out her own stunner as the group and shot one of the thugs, who instantly collapsed, as all the thugs opened fire on Lt. Black and Brad. Brad then swung his left arm around at them as it formed into a sword, causing the first thug to fall on his rear as he avoided it, before it connected with another thugs stunner, knocking it out of her hand and into a nearby tree's roots.

Thug: Just what are you?

Brad pulled out his stunner and fired at one of the thugs that were still standing, as Lt. Black did the same, and both of the thugs collapsed on top of the first, who was then shot by Lt. Black.

They began to run into the forest to the GS-3, and as they reached it, they heard the sound of another ship approaching.

The ship began firing into the forest as they got in, and Lt. Black pressed a few buttons on the control panel, activating the shield, which turned the cloak off.

 Brad: It would be nice if we could have a ship that could have the cloak and the shield active at the same time...

As they flew out over the ocean Brad flew the GS-3 somewhat erratically, and managed to avoid nearly all of the weapons fire from the other ship, which looked like a modified transport ship.

2 other ships soon arrived, and opened fire on the GS-3.

 Brad: Hold on.

Lt. Black: What?

 Brad: Just a new flight plan.

He pulled the ship up into a half loop, then did a barrel roll to get right side up again, before beginning a 45 degree climb. The sensors told them that the 3 other ships were nowhere near as agile as the GS-3 was, and they were still attempting to turn around as Brad and Lt. Black sped off.

Lt. Black: That worked, a little wild, but it worked.

As soon as they were clear of the atmosphere, Lt. Black activated the Wapbervklex drive, and they began to fly back to the Valmal.

 Brad: Lets go home.

Lt. Black: I agree.
