Level highway bridge, isn't level at all.

I'm sure most are aware of the level higway bridge, it's supposed to be a flat straight run like the level bridge for the road and avenue, however; this bridge has a problem with going  0.1 below the highway leveling a a nasty looking black line not tomention you can see the "level" bridge is below the level of the highway as well.

Now this isn't urgernt as the game does fine and what not... but it is an eyesore to see, so is there a Mod or something to make it level? if not could someone please work on something?

It's really a ugly pain since I'm redoing my CJ and have a lot of level higway bridges, to go to the island chains.

Just make sure to build your bridges as high as they can go.

Why? Sometimes I want the bridges at a height to make it look more realistic.

Can you get pics of this to see what it looks like? Pics should help a bit more.

It's a glitch that is a bummer alright, but I don't think no one yet has tried to fix it, if it is fixable. The more you raise the bridge the less you'll see the blackline, that's a fact. I myself just accept it as is and now I don't see it anymore. Try to plant some mayor trees nearby so to hide it......lol

I think I have the same issue, I just use elevated highways for the bridge. It doesn't show that line when using elevated highways, for me. Try it 4.gif I also use that transition piece from the NAM to go from ground to elevated highway.

As for pictures, sorry everyone my picture progam is once again and still not working. Let me maybe explain it more...

Say here is the ground level highway _ and this is the bridge _ conect them it should like this

    __

A nice flat line that matchs, right?

Well this is what it really does

    _    _

       --

As you can see, the green line is below (not that far below in the game just a little) the ground highway. This sohuld not be, it should be nice a level... this thus causes an eye shore as railings do not line up it's all out of linement and no matter how high you raise the bridge it does this.

That's a glitch all right. In all the years that I've played SC4, I've never seen this particular problem. However, it may be that I don't really go looking for these things, unless they're fairly obvious.

First off, I can't see the pictures, they usually have to be JPEGs.

And maybe this will help the problem. Tell me if this is what your looking for. [Link]

Yes that's exactly it! In thosep ictures you can see the problem I am talking about.

As I said it's nothing that effects the game... it just looks horrible.

So if a Mod or something exisit or could be made for this problem that would be just grand

lol.....you'll be surprised what you can hide with trees. I hide things worse than this with trees in my CJ, just have a look.

You can't change the glitch anyways and instead of making higher bridges all the time or just talking about how it looks bad, why not plant big trees on each side of the glitch and continue to play and have fun.

I still play, as I said. It's no game altering or even upseting... I'm just have a perfection problem... and little things like that bother me but not to the point I'll quick the game or even stop making the bridges. All I wanted to know if anyone has mad a way to do away with the problem or if someones working on one but it seems that neither is happening.

Glitches are not always reparable , I learned. Shame but it is sometimes so. These problems bother me also and that's how I learned to contour them and cheat while hiding it with other things. Have fun now.

The only thing I can think of is playing with the land height just slightly.  Use the mayor tools, and to reduce the effect, press Shift+F1 to reduce the power of the tool.

Tool radius is controlled by Shift+Number key

Tool power is controlled by Shift+Function key.

Unfortunately this will clear the area, and you'll have to rebuild to see if you were successful.  However, needs must.

Hm.........What does this exactly mean and what's a function key?

Never heard of this, am I missing something important?......lol

    Thanks N_O_Body.

I've fooled with this quite a bit and really nothing seems to work.. .. it just is gonna look like crap.. so u can hide it or avoid em.. The BEST way to avoid em without being too obvious (and is often justified anyways just from the terrain, is to transition to elevated hiways and then make the bridge and then transition back.. It's only the GROUND HIWAY that does it.. the el can be made pretty clean. Of course as all have mentioned, you can also try to just hide em..

    mrbisonm:

function keys are the keys starting with F (guess what f stands for) and the power means how powerfull the certain terrain tool is.

    eg the mountain tool:

holding shift while using it means a difference in size of the effected area AND the power of the effect.

and with the key-combos n_o_body mentioned, you can manually adjust the size and the strength (thats the word i was looking for) of the tool.

You mean to say that the power of (let's say) a raising terrain tool can be altered by using shift+ F5 key?

I knew that we can change the size of the tool, but the power will do exactly what with the F keys? And I thought the F keys were *Fockit keys*, like F1= Fockit once, F2= Fockit twice....and so on....lol

SC4boy, the transitioning to a elevated Hgwy from ground hgwy to build a bridge is a brilliant idea, I haven't thought of it although it was so obvious. But still it is higher than we sometimes want. As I said, some glitches are there to stay in this game (and others), the game was build fast to make money fast, like everything else on earth nowadays. Besides perfection was never achieved by the human race.

You know, I am pretty sure this stuff about the tools is in the original manual.  But anyway, if a tool has a default power of 10, the activate tool, shift F1 sets its power to 1.  Function keys F1 to F9 work with this.  The radius is controlled in the same way using the numeric keys.  While holding shift you can apply both.

It is not necessary to hold shift after you have done the setting.

Hmm... If I'm not mistaken, the Elevated highway bridges do not cause this problem.

If you are using a ground highway, just convert it to an elevated highway for a bridge either by using the NAM puzzle pieces or simply connecting the two together.

None of these suggestions have removed the line and made the bridge level...

So now I just avenues when I'm making level bridges. Sure it's only two lanes but it doesn't look ugly and does what it's supposed to do.

Thanks Moose, I didn't know that we could alter the power of the tools. Have to try that now.
