Tilted Mill

This is a post from TeSiamese who was able to play Societies today at EA's Gameshow in Bangkok.  His review is brief but does reveal a few new things.

I think most of you will agree with me, the best thing about the review... the booth girls. 18.gif

Most of what he mentioned we already knew... and the sandbox mode is pretty much expected.  He did say it doesn't feel like a SimCity game, which is disappointing for many of us here. 15.gif

... Particle and bloom effects? The phrase 'Mutton dressed as Lamb' springs to mind, pointless effort on a pointless game. No fan of SimCity should dare touch the abomonation.

jeez, i'm trying to decipher the fact that the review was so brief. it just screams to me that they cut out all of the criticism so the game would sell.

completely true 3.gif

yeah one or two bits I read are new and other stuff I had forgotten - it was a pretty brief review though but it just makes me hate SCS even more.

4. No zoning which I hate that it gone --I like zoning because you never know what you will get.

.

.

.

In other words, the very heart of SIm City is missing.

Nothing new or hopeful in this thread.

This game is not Sim City .... despite using that name.

As of yet, there is nothing I've seen or read that makes me want to buy this game.  I like zoning, I like building transportation networks, I like managing power, water, garbage and their corresponding deals.  Oh well, guess I will just have to keep playing SC4 for a lot longer.

It's much of the same really. What concerns me, is that the game is due to be released in a couple of weeks, but (I feel) there's still not a great deal known about the game. I don't know about other people, but I would imagine that that alone would be off-putting for some.

Those booth girl photos will probably get more views & compliments than the game 3.gif

GTM: ROFL 17.gif

This review is basically the best (other than dirks 2.gif ) I've seen that basically sums it up. And I've decided...no.

Also notice that he said there is no Power and Water system to the game...

Very disappointed.

Also...the roads don't even curve.. They are at 90 degree angles.

I really HOPE this game doesn't overshadow the current content available here on the Stex... If the game does well, it would only seem that Batters, and downloads for SC4 will become extinct....

Since SC4 and SCS are for different audiences, and i've never heard about any customizable content for SCS, i think Batters can still live for quite a long time.

If I were to take a positive from this, it would be that SCS has a sandbox mode. I would like that feature but I will wait for the full release to get more details on things like the transportation options.
