Those roads you posted might look pretty, prosperous and whatever other adjectives you could think of. The one thing they are not, however, is realistic. Since when are all roads four-lane and perfectly straight? The game is a cartoon IMO. I think people will have to come up with their own Mods, because no serious Sim city fan is going to put all the effort into modding what, for them, is not Sim City at all. The reason modding was so successful and popular on SimCity4 is because people were building on an excellent game which was true to the SimCity fanbase and tradition. This game, however, has ripped SimCity to shreds .... crap modded is still essentially crap.

Like the pop-music charts, TV-ratings and film box-office takings ..... computer game sales ratings have gone totally over to the "the more stupid it is, the more popular it is" side of things LOL Spice Girls once topped the charts .... was their "music" quality? They didn't even write it!! Reality shows where people watch people sitting on sofas and eating dinner are VERY high in TV-ratings ..... are they quality? They're the intellectual equivalent of Paris Hilton, FFS!! The most dumbed-down, SFX-ridden, comic-strip crap is often the "Number One Movie" .... again .... no intellectual quality, no challenge .... pure rubbish. And then we have the games ratings, where dumbed-down rubbish like Societies is beginning to displace the games of true quality, with the ultimate target of Call of Duty at #1. Computer games have now been annexed by the "dumb-it-down" army. Sad but true. Will we ever see a true sequel to SimCity4 ....??? It would require making a challenging game .... so maybe EA would rather go for the top-selling no-brainer each and every time. Look at The Sims .... could you get more stupid than that?? Clicking on a computerised character and telling him/her to take a shower?????? Isn't this your own life????? AAAAAAHHHHHH

Should I continue to play Simcity 4 deluxe editon or play Simcity Socities?
junjiang replied to Hahayoudied's topic in City-Building Games
Search on the forum for the videos of Societies being played .... they'll show you a good picture of what the game is about. My personal opinion is: if you want the PC version of LEGO, play Societies. If you want to continue to challenge yourself and enjoy yourself, stick with the latest version of Sim City available: SimCity4 (Deluxe) -
@Haljackey .... eh ..... of course I know all of that! Doesn't mean I have to like it. It's a pity "capitalists" (a broad term encompassing, among others, people who value money over everything, even loyalty) continue to ru(i)n this world. Screw them .... why should we have respect for people whose only goal is the accumulation of wealth? They have no soul. Main point: EA could EASILY have stayed loyal to us .... the people who made SimCity profitable ... and STILL made a huge profit .... instead they showed us that they view us as nothing more than mindless consumers. I am glad I have the brains to see through their shiny glossy bull***** marketing and that I for one, among many here, still value a challenging game .... and that thing called "loyalty" that's so out-of-fashion with the business-suits of this world. Ugh, I'm so disgusted with everything connected to EA .... vomit.

I'm not buying this or any game with EA's name on it. The only exception will be for a real Sim City sequel. They don't deserve any customers, they're a disagrace to the gaming community. Greedy profiteers and nothing more. Dumbing down great games for a bonehead mass audience ..... the same way TV has gone LOL

WHOEVER CAME OUT WITH THE GAME, SHOULD BE FIRED.quote> And the reactions we who predicted disaster expected have started to emerge LOL of course you want your money back .... But my question is: why did you throw your money away in the first place? We all knew this game was going to be the piece of crap that it has turned out to be. BUT .... EA have your money ... they will view this as a success, thanks to all those who bought it. Let's hope it's in the bargain bins by January and consigned to painful memory by next summer. Bring on Sim City 5!

Yes, you're right, the market. And we know that EA are hoping that curiosity will get them sales. And it will, unfortunately. Do EA care if you buy this and hate it? If you realise too late that it's not a true Sim City game? No. They will have entered your money into their profit margins and that's that. Buying this game for curiosity legitmises the destruction of Sim City. I am going to igmore my natural curiosity based on the many screenshots, descriptions and videos I have seen ... And wait for the incresingly unlikely Sim City 5, should it ever be made.

The Sim City franchise so far is gold ... best selling legendary. This might have Sim City's name, but it isn't Sim City. I could call myself Santa, but it doesn't make it true LOL

It's very charming

*Spoiler* SimCity Socities Game Cover and Release Date
junjiang replied to Twister_Chaser's topic in City-Building Games
Might not be a bad idea, just to make absolutely sure it is a betrayal of SimCity values .... get it on torrent --- that way, you're not funding and/or legitimising this game. -
4. No zoning which I hate that it gone --I like zoning because you never know what you will get. . . . In other words, the very heart of SIm City is missing. Nothing new or hopeful in this thread. This game is not Sim City .... despite using that name.
-
Zoning .... Zoning is the ESSENCE of Sim City A lack of zoning alone shows how dumbed-down this game will be Add the lack of variety of roads .... only ONE type?? Sorry, this game contains nothing that made Sim City what it is

Just to satisfy curiosity? I would say "no". That would just give EA their profits, which is all they want ... otherwise they would have developed a proper Sim City sequel. I think the fewer fans of Sim City that buy this, the better. Might make a real sequel to the series come about faster. That's why I'm not buying it, among other reasons. And it's my hope that if the game flops with the core Sim City base (ie true fans of the series) ... it will teach EA a much-needed lesson in betraying their customers. Get Cities Unlimited or something ... it looks to be more like Sim City that Societies is! (I refuse to even call it SCS lol)
-
The saddest thing about people buying for curiosity is that they don't seem to realise that EA don't care WHY you buy SCS ... they only want your money, so they can claim this disgrace as a success, and justify slapping all true SC fans in the face. And everyone who buys it helps them, and hurts us. Sorry if that's hard to take, but it's what will happen if we don't stand up to this outrage. I'm tired of people tiptoeing around this forum because the developers of SCS are here ... they're destroying our game .... and making a fortune doing so .... so i wish them failure.

No option for : No, and I never will That's my vote Well, all I can say is, if EA sell enough of this game to satisfy curiosity, they'll have made their $€£, and they won't care about what fans of proper/real Sim City think, will they? So, if you want to make this game a success, buy it. You'll just be destroying the chance of a real SIm City sequel in the future
