As for the comment of going back to SimCity 4. personally i would love to do just that but it doesn't run stable anymore, hasn't done for yrs

even if it does run on my computer that is too good for it 4.gif, it lags too much

Nice, upgrade your computer to play new games, then the old ones don't work 4.gif

LET ME PLAY SIMCITY 4 and COMMAND AND CONQUER - argggggg lol

Sorry off topic there

Looks like a 3d version of SC3k essentially, but it's still quite gorgeous. Looks "cartoonish", but not in a tacky manner like Societies.

This game is going to be awesome! It's just a shame that I'll be busy working with modeling wood and chipboard instead of this, but those materials have their perks as well. 2.gif

SC4, Forevermore!

Currently preoccupied with architecture school...lurking with caution.

It's like the gird didn't exist! Also, I find the tokens part of online not that esstinial to the game. Really, it just makes things harder on you when you had to trade with Omicorp.

Would someone be so kind and lend me their login and request code? Oh is it possible to do single player? cuz i don't really want multiplayer i just want the single player but you have to register for a multi player in the beta =( So if therte is a person so good to lend me he's login (PM me) I would really aprecciate it. Unfortzunaltely I was too late to get one.

careful, that sort of comment is surely in breach of the NDA.

Look, asking isn't gonig to get you a key. Go to other websites such as zam.com or such, then get your code and there you go. THat how I got mine. Anyways, I can't tell you whats in store. So you might have to go on citiesxl.com to check.

Cities XL beta isn't so good: there are a lots of problems and some features arent' in use. So: continue to play and support SimCity 4; CXL is not worse or better, it's different. (or try to put in your CD drive both Simcity and Cities XL CDs, maybe the result will be awesome!)

I can only run on very low.. 15.gif I missed out on the great graphics. But one thing is most of new comments after mine did somewhat breach the NDA which you can't. So you might as well wait until its final release date to see everything improved such as techical issues.

From what I hear, you're going to need something like a GTX 200 series or ATI 4800 series to run this.

If you're allowed to answer, does anyone know just how well this game will do with multicore CPUs?

Wait what? CXL is highly optimized. It still runs well on aged computers from what I've seen. And yes, it's designed to be able to make use of multiple processor cores. How many though I am unsure of... likely two.

Aside from that, I'm going to have to change my stance... I doubt Cities XL is going to be a trainwreck. While I don't entirely agree with some quirks, such as the lack of a terrain editor, or the maximum-security custom content system, I'm doubtful it will be a "disaster" (or whatever you want to call it) like with SC:S. I'd elaborate, but, well, NDA!

Just because a game requires heavy systems does not mean a trainwreck. Look at Supreme Commander, Oblivion, or Crysis. Steep systems demands when they came out and yet hardly train wrecks.

The question is, what kind of a system do you need to experience the full game? I doubt that you could answer as it's only the beta that you're testing and its probably quite buggy. Still, it can't hurt to have a good graphics card ... I'd imagine that this is going to use quite a bit of GDDR.

Looking at the screenshots, it seems like there's no way to make an american-style city, and I haven't seen one shot of a suburb, and the suburbs are fun to make. No city builder yet has given much of an opportunity to create realistic suburbs (SC4 came close) and I thought this one would, but it looks like a purely european urban-only game, especially with the building styles. At least you can actually make european cities, unlike SC4! But I live in an american suburb so I just wish you could create that.

I definitely won't say anything to breach the NDA, but overall I think the game is decent. There are some things I think need more focus on and others that need less focus, mainly the financial end of it is difficult because there is less control over individual utilities. I do like the graphics style, especially the landscape, so pretty, but there are several areas that need some work to be a great city simulator.

But then again, a lot of the stuff that would normally be in Cities XL is either a) not added yet or b) not ready. The game isn't coming out 'till Mid- October and the release date has been pushed back like, what, THREE TIMES! I'm pretty sure that the game will be a heck of a lot better when it actually comes out. But why do you think it's boring? Plz give me ANSWERS!
