  1. Grids make a city real?

I will agree that grids are very much used, especially as you said in early development. I'm in Portland, Oregon and we have streets numbered out to I believe the highest I've seen is 366th. I usually keep to a grid like structure out as long as possible usually until there is a elevation difference/river or a highway/railroad in which I will adjust as needed to work around those areas in a visually appealing fashion.
  2. Your method of connecting cities

Very nice! I've gotta try to use more connections, I got in the habit of just using highways to connect large city tiles even when building large metro areas, not really sure why. I've only within the past 6 months really started using rail and now I don't know how I went without it, the amount of traffic I have crossing city lines is intense on rail alone is intense.
  3. So I was trying to find a topic that accurately described what I was looking for but, alas, no luck. I am curious as to how many road/rail connections you all use between cities. I prefer the highways/avenues only connections for road and at least one rail in each direction but I've seen others cities with every road connecting to the next city. So just give me your opinions and experiences with different layouts!
  4. Installing regions?

Your best bet for the installation instructions is in the thread below, have fun! Installing a region downloaded from the STEX
  5. Screenshots (Pre-Release)

I definitely won't say anything to breach the NDA, but overall I think the game is decent. There are some things I think need more focus on and others that need less focus, mainly the financial end of it is difficult because there is less control over individual utilities. I do like the graphics style, especially the landscape, so pretty, but there are several areas that need some work to be a great city simulator.
  6. The Official Petition for a SimCity 5

I just poured my heart out in petition number 98... I had to cut myself off before I went into the details of playing Simcity 2000 in 7th grade science class. I would have to agree that the Mods and specifically the NAM are creating a new and amazing experience, I'd say we're at Simcity 4.5 but there are some things that the most talented modders can't change to push it to the next level. I want Simcity 5 so bad...
  7. MY FAV REGION

I've gotta say though, the bridge that stretches across the mouth of the columbia is beautiful... but the city of Astoria is kinda, eh
