Hmm... something a little different... I like the question mark in the Where Am I box. And for the html code, do you mean font size=x. For example, I used font size=2 to type this. That's the only one I know of, but I'm no expert.

Hey SA, Caladan looks incredible.  The region is beautiful, the presentation is top notch as always and the outpost look great.

Wow! Some great terraforming, and the medieval outpost is really amazing on top of that rock! Great update ShadowAssassin! How did you create that banner at the top of your pics? I'm quite a newby on photoshop editing, and I'd like to know how you created that (especially the font-type and the 'images' inside of it. Keep it up!

Thanks for the small tip, kmoh, and thanks for the comments rooker1, palmgurl and dhoppeii.
utora: LOL, so am I. 3.gif Hmm, I can't really remember, but I do know I use the Dynasty Banner as a template, and use Layer Masks jucidiously to make it look nice, combined with a Feather on the image. It's pretty complicated.

Lastly, thank you for the comment, Darmok.

    We've got the next one.

Update 2 of the Caladan Saga

The pirates are at hard work trying to complete the town of Te Waikairou. The first thing they did was lay out the main roads and where the town walls would go. Then they constructed a bridge over to the outpost.
    Caladan2.03.jpg

The first stage of the town walls were started using parts that were stolen from a Flat Surfaces R Us (Providing All Your Planar Needs) merchant ship.
    Caladan2.05.jpg

The second stage was completed a few months later. Now the south side was reasonably protected. But they had to finish the whole wall system soon.
    Caladan2.06.jpg

The Central Plaza was built at the intersection of the main roads. This would be a meeting place. The new seasonal trees haven't been constructed yet. Meanwhile, the walls surrounding Te Waikairou were completed.
    Caladan2.07.jpg

The pirates were busy zoning homes for people. This area was expected to be medium density, all row homes.
    Caladan2.08.jpg

NEXT: The Construction of the Seaport and Growth of Te Waikairou.

    ---
note: I just want to point out, there's a small cosmetic difference between how the updates are presented here and at SCC. For one, SCC's updates have got numbers, this one doesn't. I may add more. Two more updates until you guys catch up. 11.gif

    newy: Hehehe... wait and see.

Update 3 of the Caladan Saga

    Caladan2.02.jpg
Progress on the zoning outside the city walls has been proceeding at a blistering pace. The pirates want to consolidate their position before a rival band move in. The Dynasty Navy actually has a policy to leave the pirates alone in the Dark Territory - they will wipe each other out sooner or later.

    Caladan2.04.jpg
Obviously, power was an issue, so they set up a well-defended area for power.

    Caladan2.09.jpg
    Caladan2.10.jpg
Ah, the staple of every pirate - the seaport - they can't exactly remain marooned on land, couldn't they? The seaport was under construction for quite a while.

    Caladan2.11.jpg
The seaport was finally finished, with two tiers, and plenty of parking.

    Caladan3.01.jpg
Remember this from last time? This is the result.

    Caladan3.02.jpg
As the population grew, as did the farms. Lots of food and crops were needed to keep the pirates and their local non-pirate villagers sustained. In exchange for protection by the pirates, the villagers gave food and such. This unique relationship has not yet been replicated elsewhere on the planet.

    Caladan3.03.jpg
The farms, right after development. More has been planned...

    Caladan3.04.jpg
    More farmland, ripe for development.

    Caladan3.04.jpg
The finished result. For some weird reason, they seem to like flowers...

    Caladan3.06.jpg
The waterfront residental area, behind the seaport...

    Caladan3.07.jpg
The rich end of town, complete with tollgate and mayors mansion.

That's the end of update 3. NEXT: The Nightlife of Te Waikairou

Looking darn good sofar. I especially love that wall. As a matter of fact I love it so much that I need to know where you got that wallset from, straight and diagonal pieces.
I also like the way you have arranged the farmzones, this is new to me and I hope you don't mind if I will use it in my CJ, because they look good.
Keep on showing us your city!44.gif

You need to download the castleramparts prop collection from www.SimCity.com
I don't know where the diagonals come from, but there are some other wallsets available. Just type 'castle' or 'castle wall' in the search engine.

Incredible updates, Shadow! I really love the way you are planning the castle area, with parks, residential sections, pathways and so on. Looking forward to the big one!

Thanks utora, much appreciated, but I already have this set and I believe that it is not the same as shadow uses in his pics, besides no diagonal walls in this set.

    So, does anyone know?41.gif

More perfect storytelling with that rare 'fantasy' element too it.  Again, you're bringing this CJ to a new level.  Good job on the originality.  And as always, the planning is excellent, but I would never expect otherwise from you, SA! 9.gif

Well, 'bout time we paid a visit to Dynasty, which is now sitting at a healthy 1.1 million Happy Sims [which is also the name of a famous franchise in Dynasty, but we'll go into that later] Welcome to Titticaca, the city whose name gets lots of little giggles from SOME people. But never mind.]

    TitticacaOverview.jpg
As always: the overview of Titticaca. Note the rail yards and the elevated highway snaking through town.

    Mosaic.jpg

    Titticaca001.jpg
This is Titticaca's West Side. Apparently, they ran out of money to extend that canal... :googly:

    Titticaca002.jpg
The famous wooden stations and signal house on the East Side. All three buildings have been there for a long time...

    Titticaca003.jpg
Old Titticaca. The area where the government of Titticaca is located. The large building at the north end is the City Hall, and the building at the south end is the Government Lodge, formerly the home of Sir Artemeius Deadly, but donated to the Government. The ruins of the former City Hall can be found near the canals.

    Titticaca004.jpg
    What the picture says.

    Titticaca005.jpg
Deadly Park... don't believe the name, it was donated to Titticaca by the wealthy Deadly family. They, sadly... died. Sir Artemeius Deadly was the owner of Deadly Acres and Deadly Enterprises here in Titticaca.

    Titticaca006.jpg
Wondered where all that dirt excavated got to? Look behind the Government Lodge.

    Titticaca007.jpg
The Palace of Justice and Titticaca Historical Archives. The Palace of Justice is a fancy name for courthouse.

    Titticaca008.jpg
Old Town. A thriving historical sector of Titticaca. It used to be far more expansive, but not anymore. This is the last remaining pocket of the Old Town.

    Titticaca009.jpg
The commercial district. The Coca-Cola building features here, but it isn't the tallest in town...

    Titticaca010.jpg
    Titticaca011.jpg
This is what became of some of the land donated by Sir Artemeius Deadly. Yup, Dynasty's biggest cemetery.

    Titticaca012.jpg
    Titticaca013.jpg
    Lost in suburbia, aren't we?

    Titticaca014.jpg
Titticaca's power supply. It's expected that another solar power plant will be added to cope with demand.

    Titticaca015.jpg
The famous rail yards. Deadly Enterprises Tower can be seen there, the tallest building in town [it's the oval-ish green one, if you're blind 3.gif]

    Titticaca016.jpg
Now, for the butt of all lame jokes: Titticaca Institute of Technology, or TIT for short.

    Titticaca017.jpg
The plaza, known as the Sinkhole can be seen there. The Adler Planetarium's posing as an ingeniously-designed lecture hall, here. Dorms are the Thaneplace Lofts. The main building's the grey building, with more classrooms in the purple-roofed building.

    Titticaca018.jpg
    An overview.

WOW. i really really like this CJ. I like the realism and endless surbuban sprawl.

    A couple of questions:

How do you get so many middle class homes?
What is the mod that you use for the end of roads/streets with the turning circle (mind block, whichever one is the lighter grey) and for that matter don't you have congestion problems in all the subdivisions having just low capacity streets/roads.

This is an awesome CJ, keep up the good work 1.gif
