That region shot is breathtaking!

Albaraji (what language?) = Le barrage (in french) = The dam (in english) could that be it?

Superb neighborhood, the second pic in the Some closeup pics reminds me of McCormick place In ShelterBay when I was (a lot) younger.

Whoa! you have curved canals! Where did you get that! I don't think I've ever seen this, Or am I going mad?, please don't answer this.... the mad question that is,not the curved canal bit there... am I making sense? 17.gif

Hey SA, great couple of updates.  Really enjoyed all the farms and your use of your very own cycleway kit is great.  I noticed that your neighborhoods look quite ordinary, which I find to be excellent.  You really seem to have that aspect down.  I struggle at times to create what I would feel is a realistic looking suburb.  Great job.  I like what you did Deja Vu......It seems to be hidden behind the Best Buy out of the way of most main traffic.  This is how I would expect it to be in RL.  The cabin in the woods next to the pond is very inviting and the canal that snakes around the church looks awesome.....Great stuff here...

Thanks, all. Well, the curved canals can be found here but you need to be a member to download them.

It was the perfect place to put it, to be honest. And it's across from the church! 9.gif

*sniffs* Hardly a few hours. 28.gif[/posh accent] Never fear, it's here!

    Sorry, no overview. 43.gif
    POPULATION: Approximately 15,000

    granddam0017rs.jpg
Grand Dam's Elder Hills estate. Spectacular views to most of Dynasty... if it wasn't for Celeron Mountain being in the way. 3.gif

    granddam0027ha.jpg
Grand Dam Industrial Park up there in the corner, the bulk of the south-eastern population is located here.

    granddam0032uy.jpg
Grand Dam Radio Telescope. The road leading up to it was given a facelift, and also, the satellite dish was completely overhauled.

    granddam0046qt.jpg
The Summit Hotel. The road below was in danger of landslides, so it was shifted over, so there are no bridge pieces holding the road up in certain places. It's all on terra firma.

    granddam0050wy.jpg
The Watering Hole is that big patch in the middle. The entire estate was built around it, as it is protected.

    granddam0061bl.jpg
North-east Grand Dam. Not much, except for suburban subdivisions.

    granddam0076fh.jpg
    The famous Grand Dam Gardens.

    granddam0088yb.jpg
Some of the development around GDG.

    granddam0090yu.jpg
Where all the Sims go to be educated. The building in the top section is the Grand Dam College.

    granddam0106vu.jpg
Last but not least, Grand Dam's downtown.

Don't forget to comment. Lurkers, please set your mode from Lurk to Post. Comments greatly appreciated.

Great looking update SA.  I really like the way the roundabout blends in with the res. neighborhood.  I also really like the winding roads leading to both the telescope and hotel.  Better fasten your seatbelts....The Grand Dam Gardens are Spectacular.....Very Nice job here.  The downtown looks like it could be a very busy little place...One question for you though, what are those white lots in the upper left corner of this last pic42.gif  They almost look like some kind of barrier.  Great Update...

Thanks, dhoppeii, newy, Darmok and jacqualina, hope you guys are sitting tight for the next update. 9.gif

Good news! Throughout Dynasty, the 1 millionth celebrations are taking place to celebrate the 1 millionth citizen of Dynasty. Region view below:
    dynasty10045sf.th.jpg border=2

    macalania0018cu.jpg
    Macalania

    macalania0023xp.jpg
Macalania Greens Golf Course, and associated exclusive houses. The median price here is around $971,000.

    macalania0035kh.jpg
Darien Island. Named after the first settler of this island - William Darien. Holes 5 & 6 of the Macalania Greens Golf Course are located here. The orange building on the mainland is the Country Club.

    macalania0044qz.jpg
NW Macalania. The mayor's house and part of the Greens Estate can be seen here, along with the driving range.

    macalania0059ls.jpg
This little triangular section of suburbia is well-sought after by families - as it is close to Gemstone Valley CBD.

    macalania0068ql.jpg
Beachside Key. The northern side. This area is also well-sought after, even though there is no beach, but there are commanding water views.

    macalania0073nc.jpg
Beachside Key South. Even better views can be found here if you live in any of those apartment buildings.

    macalania0087yk.jpg
    Macalania Industrial Park.

    macalania0091tc.jpg
Macalania Waste Disposal. The four disposal thingys dump all the trash off the edge of the map. The mythical yellow arrows are the only things that give safe passage to Sims from city to city.

    macalania0104xy.jpg
Macalania Central - the main section of Macalania's residental area.

    macalania0112st.jpg
Macalania Town Centre. Small, and boring. One of the companies went a little bit crazy with development, and it kinda went wrong... 3.gif

Hope you enjoyed Macalania - and this is update 26, with 1 million happy citizens living in Dynasty now! Don't forget to comment.

Great rivers I really do like the style in it. I also really like your lay-out on the homes and Golf Course. I really enjoyed those hill/mountains. They look very interesting, great rock texture. It sure does fit well in your cities as well as those trees.

    Great work

utora: Heh, a hidden gem of ST, eh? 3.gif Well, I've been following your CJ, and great work. People, you gotta visit it! 3.gif

    jacqulina: No problem.

    Natataek: Glad you like it.

wks2003x: Glad you like it too, and make sure that Lattica reaches 1 million sims overall! 38.gif

Darmok: Glad it appeals to you. 3.gif

And without much ado... I present:

    Foreword:
Well, I've kinda gotten bored of Dynasty... it happens after six months on the same region. But this doesn't mean that it will be doomed to die - in fact, I am creating a new mini-region - one that is closely intertwined with Dynasty, yet still manages to keep seperate. Once this region is finished, I will return to Dynasty, and keep on going as normal. This new region is an experiment with many planning styles, and if I like them, I may utilise them in Dynasty.

    CaladanHeader.jpg
Welcome to Caladan... a pirate outpost on the edge of the Dark Territory. Let me explain what I mean by Dark Territory. Dark Territory is the area where no sane civilian or citizen of Dynasty will ever venture. It is, in a sense, the Bermuda Triangle of Dynasty. However, this area is often frequented by many roving bands of pirates that make attacks on ports up and down the coast.

The reason why it is called Dark Territory is for two reasons: You cannot call for help here - you are unable to use your radio equiment, thanks to the electromagnetic radiation from an unknown source, most probably a submerged spacecraft. Also, if you are spotted by one of the patrols patrolling the area frequently, you will more than likely be killed and your cargo stolen.

    CaladanRV1.jpg

Caladan is approximately 2,500km south of Dynasty - in the warmer regions, in fact. This area of the planet, surrounding Caladan and the Dark Territory, by some suspicious freak of nature, happens to be almost entirely sub-tropical coastline. Never mind about that. What you should be worried about is the pirate outpost sitting on top of that island.

If the pirates spot you, this is what will happen:
    Caladan1.01.jpg
The two smaller ships are pirate-owned ships. Virtually the same as Dynasty Navy ships, they can easy infiltrate many ports along the coast. Basically, the larger ship is a Merchant Navy Ship (MNS), and contains some very lucrative cargo, such as valuable gems, food, small arms, and various other things.

    Caladan1.02.jpg
Be warned: If you see the abandoned lighthouse, you better get out of the area - fast. It's not A abandoned lighthouse, it's THE abandoned lighthouse. If you mention it, everybody will instantly know what you're talking about.

    Caladan1.04.jpg
This image was taken a long, long time ago by a satellite observing proceedings in the Dark Territory area. It was kept in the archives for this reason.

    Caladan1.05.jpg
The outpost still under construction. The pirates seem to be ready to move in.

    Caladan1.03.jpg
The finished outpost. Obviously, the pirates keep a close eye on proceedings. This place is the ideal place to launch an attack on any unsuspecting merchant ship passing by. Though, the water is deep, so they must be quick to capture the ship before it sinks.
*there's an error in the title - it isn't abandoned at the moment

And that's the end of update 1 for Caladan

Next update will be coming soon: The Expansion of Caladan.
