    Welcome to Page 11! 39.gif

Godzillaman: Yep, most of the city is grown.  There are only a few commercial buildings that I plopped that never grew when I wanted them to.  A region pic is coming soon, and I will look into the census.  Thanks for the comment!

jacqulina: Thanks much, Jacky!  Shopping is a pretty big deal in Remington Bay, but if one would be looking for a mall, they'd have to go pretty far to find one!  However, I'm planning to construct a new one in a nearby city pretty soon.

Schulmanator: Although the ABI (Auburn Bay International) airport hasn't been finished yet, flights still somehow manage to land and take-off with no problems.  Eventually, I will finish it when I have more time, probably in the summertime. 10.gif

Criquette: Thanks!  I don't think I'll use the effect I used on the RB shots for a while, though.

PhilsCafe: Hello Phil!  Actually most of them are grown, except for about 5 to 10 skyscrapers.  But I'm glad you noticed how I tried not to compact everything so tightly together in Remington Bay.  You might have noticed how many parks and plazas there are.  I use them very frequently to fill in spaces that make it possible to have gaps between buildings.  Thanks for commenting! 9.gif

gabry85: Thanks!  The nightlights are probably a bit more varied than they are in Auburn Bay, but the blue and green ones still kinda dominate the color of lights.

vivydu29: Thank you for the comment!

bbfan02: One suburban town, coming right up!

zelgadis: Yep, an oceanside city doesn't make any sense without marinas, or for that matter, boats.  I wonder how PEG's marinas would look?  Hmm, I may have to try them out someday! 4.gif

edmonton_stinks: I tend to overuse the lofts, but I think it doesn't show, thanks to the color variations.  Thank you for commenting!

Shanna: Thanks for the great comment, I'm glad that you liked everything!  More is on the way.

I have decided what city I will focus on next... *drumroll, please* 3.gif

Yep, suburbs!  I think that you'll all enjoy this series of updates.  Expect the first update of the town, known as Jackson Park, to come either today (Sunday) or tomorrow.

    Thanks for visiting Auburn Valley!

Im looking forward to the next update, those suburbs looks promising, this is a really nice CJ, especially the docks and the way you intergrated the highways into the downtown area, I always find that really tricky.

I'll look forward to seeing more of your suburbs, but what you have pictured there looks typical for a lot of gentrified areas... smaller houses surrounded by behemoth mcmansions.

Great teaser pic! Best one I've seen in a long time. Seriously, that's one of the very few SC4 suburban developments I've ever seen that isn't just a lot of crackerboxes. There's plenty of variety: size, wealth color. I like it very much. 9.gif

Oh man I missed a lot. Meh...

Anyway, suburbia looks very tranquil and manicured. That sure is a lovely place to live in.

    vivydu29: Thank you!

jacqulina: I just constructed a mall in a city that neighbors Jackson Park.  If you look directly south of the city, you'll see a big white structure.  That's the mall!  I hope to build other ones very soon.  Thank you for commenting!

Geronimo: Thanks for the comment.  Glad you liked it!

GingerBlokey: Suburbs were more of a factor in my last CJ, Monarch Valley, but it's something that will start to become more common in Auburn Valley in the coming months.  As for the highways, I don't find them too hard to construct (just click and drag). 2.gif Thanks for the comment!

Schulmanator: Glad you are teased.  Updates are coming right up!

dfnva:  The smaller houses weren't necessarily replaced, but I get your point.  Other areas of Jackson Park don't really have that effect, though.  Thank you for commenting!

zelgadis: Best one, no, I don't think so!  There have been plenty of other great ones and recent months, you and I both know where they are.  Or maybe not. 3.gif You'll see that building variety is something that I emphasize in just about every type of city, it this case, suburbs.  But it's just to a much lesser extent than downtowns.  Thanks for the good comment!

Dark_Hunter: Thanks!  Yes it is about downloading the buildings.  Without any of them, my cities would look pretty bland.  Also, I tend to use parks and plazas a lot - if you take a look at Remington Bay, you'll see why. 2.gif

    politicman: Thanks!

gabry85: Exactly.  There aren't too much American styled houses, though - leave that to Maxis! 9.gif

    Dsrwhat316: Thanks, Dan.

edmonton_stinks: Thank you!  I'm sure you'll love the update, too.

granto93: Hey Grant!  Suburbs are always an interesting subject for an update.  I, too, like to see how people create them using unique layouts and recreational areas.  Of course, Jackson Park has a lot of retail as well as some industrial.  Thank you for the comment!

bbfan02: Thanks, I think Jackson Park is the best suburb I've created so far, so hopefully these update go great, too!

Deever: You came at just the right time!  The full update is coming very soon.  Thanks for commenting! 4.gif

Just a region map to show everyone where Jackson Park is located in Auburn Valley.  Stay tuned - Part One of Jackson Park bows later today!

Thanks for the ongoing support, everyone!  Reaching 300 replies is a great feeling.  And having 15 replies for that teaser update is a record for this CJ, I think!  Once again, thank you, thank you, thank you!

    Son of a....!

You really are a master of suspense, but at some point you really are going to have to show us the actual suburb.

The region looks cool. Can't wait to see Jackson Park!

For my 700th post, I'll comment that's a great regional view! It's realistic with the suburbs and satellite cities. However, I'd really enjoy seeing a transportation map sometime. 4.gif

As for the houses, I was referring to places in the Washington, DC area where older small houses have been torn down and turned into mcmansions. For some reason that idea appears simulated well in your neighborhood teaser pic.

edmonton_stinks: Sorry.  I'll try not to keep you on the edge of your seat too long next time. 3.gif

dfnva: Congrats on your 700th post!  Glad you liked the region shot.  I'll try adding a transportation shot to that update.  Until then, you can take a look at a region transportation map a few pages back in this CJ.

Welcome to the town of Jackson Park.  Nestled outside Covina, this suburb is one of the best places to live in in Auburn Valley.  With easy access to its neighbors and other major cities, travel is definitely not a hassle.  Commercial and industrial areas occupy every corner of the city.  Speaking of corners, that's exactly how the city is layed out.  Four individual corners, separated either by the main avenue that links to Covina in the East, or AH-95 that connects to Forza in the South.

You might notice that I am not using the exact same effect on the pictures as I did with Remington Bay.  The reason I chose to not use it is because I don't think that effect fits suburban areas very well.  However, the enhanced colors have returned, and will stay from now on.

A Taco Bell, commercial business, and several apartments are located in the southwestern corner of the city.

The Jackson Park Regional Hospital is seen here.

    jacksonparkdec295512033kp7.jpg

More fast food!  And some strip malls, as well.  The water tower provides all of the city's water.

Shots of the main neighborhood in this section of Jackson Park.

Plenty of jobs are available in the city, such as this office park.  A Chipotle restaurant and a hotel are also pictured here.

    jacksonparkjul756120336xf2.jpg

While development has taken over most of the city, forested areas like this remain.  A large gas station and an Arby's lie along the avenue.  The city's main fire and police stations are also conveniently located here.

Looks like a busy day at this shopping center!

Not exactly sure when I'll update this with Part 2.  Perhaps in the middle of the week, but an update on Friday or Saturday is more likely.

    Thanks for visiting Auburn Valley!

Nice work. You've got a great variety of houses, and the offices and shops are well placed. The scenery is nice too. It'd be nice to have forest areas of that quality right in the middle of the suburbs.

bbfan02: Thanks.  Expect to see much more of this!

Schulmanator: That shopping center in particular is the Super Center 2, by SimGoober.  If you like this one, you'll probably like the other one, too, found here.

dfnva: I tend to use them frequently in my suburbs, so they will be seen a lot in Jackson Park. 2.gif

zelgadis: Hope you enjoyed the doughnuts. 3.gif There used to be a Krispy Kreme around here, but it closed down last August.  Oh well, the independent places are cheaper, better, and a lot closer.

edmonton_stinks: Exactly the things that I was trying to do.  Thanks for commenting!

gabry85: Thanks!  Much more is coming soon.

nihonkaranws: Thank you!  Glad you liked the borders, I think they spruce up the pics real good.

I wasn't planning on posting this mosaic, since it shows areas that have already been shown (in the exact same camera angles) in the last update.  But because I have been busy this weekend, I've had no time to play SC4.  I figerued that I might as well update with it.  Hopefully next weekend I'll have much more time.  I'm pretty confident that I will, though. 10.gif

Yeah well I didn't have much time to comment either so you're not alone.

Neat use of those trail parks. And those trees; I can't seem to place trees and make them fit in like that. I guess you learn something new every day.
