Welcome to Auburn Valley! This is my second attempt at a CJ. Updates will come in the similar fashion as they did in Monarch Valley. For those who do not know this simply means that updates focus on a certain city and rotate through different projects I’ve been working on the region. One obvious difference is that they will come much more frequently, as I started MV in August, 3 weeks before school began. Daily updates are possible, not certain. Once in a while I may not get to updating AV so please be patient.   Cheating for me is essential, since without it I would never be able to achieve what I have so far in Auburn Valley. The major cheats I use provide extreme amounts of money and demand; a complete list of modds and cheats are listed below.>>

American Traffic Generators

Bridge Height Mod

City Hall Fix

City Halls Unlocked

Dark Blue/Green Water Mod

Industry x4

Radical Ordinance

Sidewalk Texture Mod

TileSet Mod

Uni-Density Streets

Vending Machines Mod

Vinnie Ordinance Mod

First up on Auburn Valley... is Auburn Bay.  The first city that was established in Auburn Valley started out with a few housing developments started by a very successful businessman who lived in neighboring region Monarch Valley for most of his life.  Why he decided to abandon his successful presence there is still unknown today.  Eventually, businesses were appealed to the lower costs to purchase land in the area... and thus some commercial skyscrapers started to pop up.  Over time, freeways were constructed to ease traffic congestion around downtown.  Along with the freeways came one of Auburn Bay's most famous landmarks... the Auburn Bay Bridge.  Industrial development flourished near the northwestern area by the bay, with a seaport and a extensive rail line.  Soon, downtown development would spread out from its original position towards the West and South, and with it came many medium-density apartment complexes.  In no time, Auburn Bay had become one of the most flourishing cities in the whole world... overtaking cities like Fonistat and Montague as the largest city in the Monarch - Auburn Valley regions.

I started Auburn Bay a week ago on my new computer.  I never expected to create this large of a city as in Monarch Valley I had tried and tried but could not get a big and flourishing city in a large city tile.  I have used every single cheat and mod listed above in Auburn Bay, without it I could not even create a city this big.  I don't use ploppable buildings very often, I highly dislike using them as it is unrealistic for me, but to get my city going sometimes I have to plop a few buildings around downtown.  I would say about 1/4 of my downtown skyscrapers are plopped, and that the rest was grown.  There are still quite a few patches of undeveloped land in Auburn Bay that I plan to fix in the coming days, and as far as the rest of my region goes it is pretty barren.

To start things off, here's a few aerial shots of Auburn Bay.

Shot of the area of Auburn Bay simply known as the rectangle, due to it being bordered on each side by a freeway.  The southern tip of downtown is located here, as well as Auburns Bay's retail strip on Valencia Boulevard.  Industrial development gained a significant presence after residential development produced massive growth.

Hope you enjoyed this!

Uuh. A skyscraper forest where is too steep change to lowrise residentals and "natural" shore without seawalls looks really ugly when next to skyscrapers.

i really like this! - its a strong start - the skyscraper disctrict is amazing and the burbs are simply wow! - hope to see more and i hope YOU are well!, take care ~alex~

Its a pretty big shame that Krio always says the negative the points - ignore him - we all do!

Pretty nice downtown you seem to have, but i have to agree with all those points Krio made. Adding some seawalls would make a huge difference, and the leap from low-mid rise to massive skyscrapers is quite a sudden. It great that Krio can offer constructive criticism, rather than just posting generic comments like Homeandaway. Just ignore him, we all do.

its a good city but it has a too steep climb like krio said, although i dont mind it near the coast.

    Replies:

jacqulina: Thanks for visiting my friend!  I'm glad you liked it!

granto93: Thank you!  Yeah, I tend to make a lot of bay cities but I always have a problem with the shoreline.

Krio: Thanks for your input.  I was concerned about that before - I was debating on whether I should rezone some of the medium density residential to high density but I was worried I'd get too much of a repetition in the buildings.  But the shoreline, I was certain that I would need to alter it in the future with seawalls.  It's going to be hard to do so since I prefer natural-shaped coastlines rather than straight ones, and obviously the straight ones allow for the easy construction of them.

homeandaway: Thanks Alex!  However I do agree with Krio, although I'm still pondering on the transition between zones.

mjig_dudy: Thank you!  I'm glad you like the downtown, and I will take action on Krio's suggestions.

Godzillaman: Thanks!  Next time for sure there will be a change.

Alright, it appears there are some issues I need to work on.  So hang tight and the next update will hopefully please you guys! 3.gif

hey, nice to see you got that CJ started, loved the pics at the kabin and cant wait to see what happens here, i like your skyscrapers, but have to agree with Krio too, but the downtown itself looks pretty nice and with some more tall residential buildings it should look pretty nice

ky72x-ive been wonder whats happened to you! good to see your still on ST. great start here, while krio made some nice points, this is one of those few "skyscraper forests" that actually looks good. although i do think you should fix the skyline. the night pic looks awesome. good start

dosomthin90210: Thanks!  Yeah I prepared the look I have now, I didn't want skyscrapers to fill up the whole city anyway.  Thanks for the link, but I already downloaded some seawalls already.

    cleaner475: Thank you!

Amerikaner: Thanks!  From the last update there's been a bit of progress in me getting more hi-rise residentials outside of downtown.  Their commute times are horrible though.. I need to fix that.

    Evil_Someone: Thank you!

patriots_1228: Thanks!  Heh heh well last month I wasn't on much but since school's been out for a couple weeks I'm pretty much here every day.  Well, I guess you can say that because of the variety, I tend to not have the same skyscraper in downtown unless there's a purpose for it.  Yup those night pics are always awesome!

Okay... I did a lot of work on the shoreline and installed seawalls along it, along with a brand new seaport!  The seaport I'll save for the next update, until then, here's another aerial picture.

    auburnbayapr32071182362bx3.jpg

As you can see there's still a lot of empty space by the walls.  Development along the shore is still an ongoing process, as well as the transition between downtown and the rest of the city.

    Hope you enjoyed this!

Wow!  That skyline is insane!  Btw, I think you did i great job on the sea walls... the coast looks more "city-like" with them 19.gif.  Keep up the good work.

I agree with Krio. The transition between highrise and medium density is too sharp.

    Needs more mid-rises.

Voulpiotis: Thanks Voul!  I'm glad you could drop by and visit.

    Godzillaman: Thanks!

autoVino: Thank you!  I'm glad that you are looking forward to the seaport!

Ayaren: Thanks for visiting.  Like I said, that is a continuing process and I'll provide a full update of it whenever I think it looks complete.

Now for Auburn Bay's seaport.  First constructed way back when AB was still in development, the seaport has undergone extensive redevelopment.  A brand new seaport was constructed on an artificial peninsula on the Northwestern corner of the city along with the new seawalls.  For a while it remained Auburn Valley's only seaport until a new port town, Henderson, was established way over on the other side of the bay.  Despite this, Auburn Bay's port still remains as a prime destination for importing and exporting goods.

Henderson is primarily a industrial port town on the east side of the bay.  In the next update, I will give you guys the first region shot of what I have done so far as well as some shots of Henderson.  Until then, here's pictures of the Port of Auburn Bay!

    auburnbaysep21207118245ws4.jpg

Parking is a premium at the port.  For 5 dollars, you get to park your car in one of the 5 underground levels of gravel, concrete, and lights.

One of the many major shipping centers providing a great way to ship those goods out.

This one provides a way to load trains and trucks with containers.

Finally, a shot of the whole area.  Again, I hope you enjoyed this!

hey! i really liked your other cj so I thought i'd pop by this one. Love the port, it looks very nice!! I cant do anything with water stuff lol. That is alot of skyscrapers, like someone said I think it'd look better with a smoother transition into downtown, but other than that it looks awesome. Great citybuilding4.gif
