I think we should elect 2-4 people to buy the game and test it for all of us, I elect myself, because i own and play every simcity there has been, and am a real critic when it comes to gameplay.

put your name down here if you want to be a game tester for all of us, or pm me .

If it gets over a 7 on a game review site, ill do itquote>

I would have to aggree, but mabye we could use simtrop. funds? or make a fundraiser for the purchasing of games for the testers?or dirk purchases some copies and mails to testers?

If it gets over a 7 on a game review site, I'll do it.

Any lower and I won't waste my money.

I play non modded versions of SimCity so that should be interesting (comparing SCS to non modded SC4RH)

I'm going to be a Guinea Pig obviously, since I'm still in a bit of "I'm first to buy" with my friend 3.gif

Honestly, I'll give my opinions on the game (If it works on any of my PCs at my house) if I buy it. I'm planning on buying it so I can give my opinion about the game and to see if it's any fun....but November is a long ways away...so I wont be worrying too much about it until then.

Raising money for testers seems a bit ridiculous though IMO

I also plan to buy it although I won't be the first. I'll give more than my share of opinions when I play it.

I'll download the demo since it costs me nothing and base my decision based on what the demo is like.

Sounds like a good idea - except that with a demo you can't explore and evaluate all aspects of the game.

I'll buy it if the screenshots are promising. Even then I'm still playing SC4. I'll miss SimCity. It's sad to see it go like this. 15.gif

That's exactly why I won't. If it surprises the "realistic urban simulation" fans, including me, then sure, I'll buy it too. If not, then the only hope for a return to a true sequel lies with how many people deliberately avoid SC:S. If EA sees a lot of people who hate it but buy it anyway, then why make a separate, true sequel for them? Even if it is a smaller % of the overall market, it would still make decent profit... but why bother, if they can make their profit even off the backs of people that claim to hate the product's new direction? They won't be making it off mine, unless that surprise does come along. I'm not holding my breath about that though.

Eh, this would've been so much easier if they had just said it was a new track, a parallel idea, but not intended to be the extension to the legacy. Some people would still hate it, sure, but I know I for one would probably buy it, if it gets good reviews, and I certainly wouldn't feel like I've been ignored by EA, they just had a new idea and they're trying it out... great, maybe I'll like it, but I still also want my realistic urban simulation. But as long as they keep telling me it's the new way-of-things for the SC line, I think I'd rather burn my $ on CL. Oh I wouldn't give up SC4 for anything, this is not an "I give up" post by any means. I'm just saying if I must try "something different" SC:S won't be my first choice. I know a lot of folks think CL stunk, but.. it was their first attempt, and it doesn't seem to be "all that bad" from what I have seen and read. With support, I can imagine CL2 might help to fill the void EA is intentionally leaving behind. I'm sure they've been listening to their CL fans about what they got right & wrong on their first try. And I wouldn't be surprised if they're watching us, too. 2.gif

My mind about this - I can buy real good game it with 50-100 USD ...

But I'll never really buy it - this game from SCS game is WHOLE GARBAGE ....

Not any 0.50 USD for me ......

This command construction new game about Sims 2 with cartoon for 6-10 years old and one flag for their hands !!!

Out of faithfulness, there is a very good chance I will buy it - how long I will be playing it will be another question.

What you people are experiencing now I've already gone through with another EA game so I can tell you what you can expect.

I was a C&C fan and when I heard that a new game will be released this March I was excited. However I was disappointed to find out that instead of being faithful to its immediate predecessor it was going to adopt a "going back to basics" philosophy (sounds familiar?) which meant a lot of elements had to be sacrificed. Time went on, the news didn't get better and eventually the game got released. My fears came true that it wasn't the game I was hoping for. And I wasn't the only one that felt that way. But the game sold well and it's still selling well and pretty soon it'll get an expansion. That expansion will most likely be the other half of the game that was purposely left out as the original game had an unfinished feel to it. And yet people are also going to buy that expansion.

This is what will most likely happen to SCS. It won't be the sequel to SC4 we are all waiting for, it will be unfinished to make room for an expansion and yet it will probably sell very well because of the popularity of the series.

So this is my advice: Don't buy the game just because you're a long time fan; be very careful in making the decision whether to get it or not. Because the only way we can send the message that this isn't what the fans want is to hurt their profits. If we don't hurt their profits they'll be less inclined to listen to us.

Thats quite true, but with a demo I can pretty much get a feel for a game even if it isn't the full thing and I have bought many games by trying the demo first.

But with this game I have made my decision allready after just watching that youtube clip of the game running and the woman talking about it, I am not bothering with the demo. The game is as bad as I feared and I can't keep an open mind about it any longer.

It really depends on what City Life 2 brings to the table.  At this rate, I'll let you guys buy it and try it and I'll make my decision later.

Based on what we've seen(screenshots, press releases, and the gameplay video), I'd rate it as such:

Gameplay  8

Graphics  7

Sound    ??

Value  8

Tilt   6

7.25 being the game score without sound. Would actually have to play the game to know what the sound is like. So unless the sound is absolutely atrocious I'd say this game could get a solid 7.

I'll probably buy it. Maybe review it if there's interest.
