They should put Paris in the slammer and forget about her. If she wants a fluffier bed, nobody cares. It's jail. Deal with it. I'm disgusted at the incompetence of the "system" to deal with celebs effectively.

EDIT: Hey look, page 2!

Well well well, the little spoiled tart got her butt tossed back in jail, for the full 45 days.  From news reports, she was kicking and screaming when they led her sorry butt out the court room,  to that nice room with the bars on the windows and door, calling out for her mommy 'It's not fair."  Oh boohoo.  I say they throw her sorry a$$ in with the rest of the jail population, or maybe put her in an orange jumpsuit and make her pick up that nasty garbage on the sides of the highways.  Someone needs to put that little spoiled brat in her place.

I'm guessing that once again she got preferential treatment, and is in an isolated cell?

If she were smart, her agents are already working on selling the movie rights as well as the exclusive interviews once she finishes her time. "It's not right!!!" Hehehe, oh please.

it's not right that she's not getting the REAL prison experience, like every other citizen who ends up there does...

Actually, it is perfectly right; she should serve her prison term just like anyone else would in her circumstance. Kudos to the judge for having the guts to say she spends her time in prison, no exceptions. Actually, if it wouldn't seem odd, I'd send that judge a thank-you letter for applying the law to Paris just like it would be applied to anyone else.

I'm sure she will still be pampered... private cell, etc... money and fame goes a long way in today's world.

On a more serious note, I want to know what is going to happen to the pro-active/pro-celebrity sheriff. He should be held in contempt for not working with the judge and prosecutor before he began playing king. His actions go a long way toward representing our judicial system.

It would be cool if she ran from the cops, saught asylum in iran, and we invaded Iran to get her to face justice! That would be more cause than we had for iraq... at least.

Could anyone please tell me why Paris had to go to prison in the first place?

Didn't hear anything about this up here in the north of Canada.....lol

She got several DUI's. The first time, she lost her license. She was caught two more times doing the same thing, but on a suspended license and that put her in violation of her probation.

I hate it that I know that... But the news is all Paris all the time and it's kinda unavoidable.

Sometimes when the news shows things that aren't really news, I ask myself if there is some deeper point that I'm missing.  Usually, there isn't.  Usually, they are babbling about whether KFed is dating JLo or some other totally meaningless event that isn't anyone's business except for the people involved.  The Paris Hilton case might be different.

In some ways, the Paris Hilton case is about people finally saying "enough" to the double standards of  the judicial system.  Or, to be more specific, the double standards of the judicial system in Los Angeles.  (No case would have gone like this anywhere else.)

It is also about the inane behavior of the media.  Jay Leno showed a clip of a local station interrupting their Paris coverage to announce that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, the nation's top military officer, was being replaced.  This was an eight second announcement in the middle of the ongoing Paris coverage.  This shows skewed priorities, to say the least.

Several things about this case are pathetic:  how the media is reacting.  that it is considered news that a spoiled rich brat is finally being held accountable for her actions.  that the sheriff can't follow court orders and do his job without dragging the rest of us into it.  that the average American can't watch a news report without hearing about all of this bleep.

I'm with Zel.  I hate that I know this, but if one is going to watch the news, it seems unavoidable.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

I would ordinarily call this a guilty pleasure if I were into celebrity gossip. But frankly I see this is a real life morality tale being played out. The Hiltons are exactly the parents and offspring that I don't want my family to be.

I tend to expect the media reaction to celebrity news to be overblown and this is another case of that, obviously. Any ordinary middle-class citizen wouldn't even make the local news, but since she is the face of a generation *shiver* and because of her status as a rich celebrity, her actions are watched by everyone, unfortunately.

The one good side to this is that it beings up the issue of drunk driving which is a serious matter. The other is the utter hypocrisy in the judicial system when it comes to the rich and famous. It's a wake-up call to celebrities that do engage in reckless behavior... Lindsay, Britney, I'm pointing at you.

Now if you excuse me, there's an immigration debate somewhere in America that's worth discussing.

Plus the fact that a 45day sentence for viloating parole for multiple DUIs/ with a suspended licence is a VERY light sentence. in most cases thats at least a 6 month stay in prision.

so even after violating parole she get special treatment.

I hope they find out how much the sherrif was paid to let her out.

why should she get special treatment because she is rich and pretty!? she should go to some classes and get at least 50 days in jail. When she gets released, still with no special treatment, she should be on parol. If she violates her parole, then another 200 days with no early release. she is grown up, she needs to learn that paris hilton is not a queen, but a rich stuck up brat who is used to geting things her way, it thouroly pissed me off when i heard that she was out. Lets hope she learns she is old enough to take responsibility for herself and not ruin her fans hopes and dreams.

its too bad that the brat had to get out so early and the judge had nothing to say about it.  I aggree with hym there, its a good thing the judge sent her to prison, and not a hotel that she couldn't leave unless she had a hall pass, orange jumpsuites and garbage bags wouldn't be that bad either.  SOME POWERFUL THINGS IN THIS THREAD, GREAT JOB PEOPLE.

This whole episode is a sad commentary on modern life.  A 26 year old crying to her mommy that "it's not fair" for her to pay for the crimes she has committed.  As a person who has been hit by drunk driver I'm so very glad that the judge stood up and said "No" to her serving "house arrest"!

There are a lot of people in this world who think that the rules do not apply to them because they are "pretty" or "rich" or "celebrities" or "powerful"!

She said something before going into jail about how as a role model she wanted everyone to see she was "doing the right thing"  Oh! Pllllleeeeeeeaaaaaaaassssssssseeeeee!

I hope that the parents of children everywhere are pointing out to those children that she was finally forced to do the right thing, she didn't choose to do so, and when she tried to wiggle out of paying the full price she was forced to complete the sentence!

Don't want anymore "Paris",  stop buying "Us", "People", etc. stop watching those "magazines" on TV, complain to the sponsors, let the networks know you don't like them, that will get them out of our faces because they will no longer be profitable!

This travesty of justice is wholly un-American. Isn't it the whole point of having lots of money to be able to float above the lowly masses? Wealth always buys influence and opens doors, so it's not right that an unfairly targetted Paris Hilton should have them slammed on her when she has followed all the well-understood social rules about wealth, fame, and power. Someone should let the President know so that he can preserve our traditional social values by rightly pardoning her along with Scooter Libby.

    [/sarcasm]

I suddenly feel like watching the end of "Jawbreaker" again.

I'm not too worried; some one who breaks the law is dishonest and disrespectful and is slowly going down the gutter.  My view of hell is consequential to your life and what you make of it; Paris Hilton is an example of pre-flushing...

...Which means she's definetly going down the toilet soon, and you'll hear nothing of her ever again.

Why exactly is she famous anyway? Spoilt little brat who uses 1,000s of dollars worth of make up? Her nude pictures (I know that can make some famous... God forbid)? Or people bashing her?

I have no respect for people who look to Paris Hilton as a role model.

    Neal.
