Been working pretty steady on my 18th century fortress. Here are some more screens. It's pretty much ready for textures, as far as I can tell. It will be called Fort William Alexander and count as a museum.

HERE is another image.

HERE is a third.

Larrimack Motorsports Park is exported, but it's too late to assemble a lot and get it in-game tonight. Expect it sometime early tomorrow...

Habibi-Joe:

don't you think that walls are paper thin for a fort? Do you have picture of original or something that you use as a reference? Also walls of fortifications of the period tend, well actually in all examples I know of are not straight vertical.

Yea I know, but that would take too long to fix. Thanks for the feedback, though. I get the impression that I've come back to this site at the tail-end of BAT design popularity. Many of the veterans seem to be gone, or occupied with other things. If things were different maybe I could have become a truly talented BAT artist when I first started. As it is my shoddy skills should have to suffice.

well that 's quite an astounding remark...

I think you could be something ONLY when YOU work for it. and if you prevailing attitude is - yes I know it is wrong but I couldn't be bothered to fix it... well I doubt that you problem is absence of "veterans", I think you should look for it much closer... And about popularity of BAT... it is a very slippery term... probably so by design... but at any rate many bats released nowadays represent best of the kind ever made.. so i think it is a bit presumptions to make such a claim based on the fact that you think that it is too long to fix something that you know is wrong. Another question beckons... if you're so aware that this is wrong, why did you make it in the first place??

Pull your self together, man! And you could do things!! Give yourself excuses and that's all you'll be left with

That's strange- Just because most of the BSC and NDEX have moved off the STEX - is that what mean by lack of veterans? Hello! We've got new and talented BATer's coming out from everywhere, a lot of them just as good as SimGoober or Equinox or the rest of them (Just check out some of the 3ds Max Users... 6.gif)

I don't know where you got that idea from that BAT design popularity is dying. From what I've seen looking back at the BAT's from 2004-2005 and now seeing the BAT's from 06-07 coming out I think they are of much better quality than before and the STEX can still turn over a page every few days!

Anyway here's something new for me- Another (better) image of one of my strange little models...

Omigosh, we'll all get yet even more Hong Kong Hives from Bixel!  So much great inspiration stuff in this thread.

My latest was started about two days ago and is probably best desribed as an "automobile wheel hub on a stick," but anyone from Texas should be able to recognize the Tower of the Americas even at this beginning state of incompleteness:

Tower of the Americas teaser

Probably will be a 2x2 lot.  Alot of those internal spokes are guides, and will slowly go away as I figure out the proper layered spacings and articulations of the actual wall panels.

Being an unfocused scatterbrain, I also have another smaller 1x3 w2w lot project laying around, the Vogue Building.  Right now it is just two major corner facades with some heavy restoration of long-lost ornamentation, but hopefully it will turn out charming.  This was supposed to be a small break-away tinker project, but like all BATs, it is getting involving as well.

I have been working since about half past 3 today on this (its now 22.40), besides an hour and a half i spent dropping some cash down my sisters house i have been working on this all that time, and its almost complete, not going to do any more on it tonight though.

Its a personal highlight to me, my previous attempts at Georgian Architecture have always turned out to flat and washed out, i feel i have achieved the level of depth i wanted with this. Ill add some life to the ground floor tommorow.

Woow! Are you using the BAT, or some other program?

REST: Yea, so now that I had a few days to think I've thrown away the old model and come up with this new one. Same project, though. It's light years ahead of my last attempt, but I can't help but feel it still needs work. Mainly the skins are too repetitive. I'll have to tinker with it a little, but you can get the general idea of my project.

Maybe if ya try a wood texture for the walkway on the walls? That should help break up a bit of it so its not all brick.

I have redone the lower floor on one side. It still goes strait to the ground on the other front side. Just for a little bit of diversity in the design. Its pretty much finished now.

Answering an earlier question, this is done on 3d studio max 7, the standard BAT is a dumbed down free edition of 3d Studio Max, (GMAX). It is possible to get something this detailed done in BAT, though you may not be able to get it to shine like mine does on the roof.

Its all down to experience and skill really, i have been doing this since 04 so i know how to make a material look right on a building, i also do this in University now which helps.

Me and my mate drove to portsmouth today to take a look. How are the views from the big pointy thing? (We didn't go up cause its too misty today).

I remember somewhere you said you worked in M&S? Passed 2 today, one in gunwharf quays and one in a shopping centre. I was thinking of you 9.gif

Lovely model by the way 4.gif
