That about sums it up eh? Nice job on both retrospectives. It was a good look throughout the life of this CJ... SAC is looking better than ever these days!

Best,

I don't look at many or any City Journals anymore but I have to say I make a point of checking this one out from time to time. It has a very western Canadian feel to it. I can relate to alot of the work you have done.

I really like your CJ a lot... The quality of the pictures makes them feel realistic to me, and the news reports you deliver are stunning, it is almost true-to-life! Great work, beebsies... another CJ I will be watching!

25mm of rain broke the banks? How full is this river? Lol, I think you had a little typo there . . . but anyways, great little caption of the events! It sums it all up quite well for people who haven't read this journal (but I'm not one of them, lol). Can't wait to see some more of this great stuff!

Update time! Glad you guys liked the look back.. maybe we'll do it again sometime. 2.gif Anyways, lets take a quick look at what the rain did.

    capilanoflood1.jpg

Just a quick look at the Capilano River. Although swollen, it doesn't appear nearly as bad as early predictions thought. However, with more rain expected tonight things could easily change.

    redriverupdate.jpg

    river.jpg

I showed this picture a few updates ago, when we discovered the Red River. I'm showing it again just to give a comparison.

    redriverflood1.jpg

As the river was already swollen before the storm reported in the paper, Red River was an area that was in real danger of flooding. Here's how it stood before the storm ran through.

Oh, you might notice an interesting landscape feature of the area that has confused scientists for years... the perfect grid lines marking the landscape in this area. Some say it's aliens.

    redriverflood2.jpg

And a nice overview of the area. That river doesn't look so bad does it?

    redriverflood3.jpg

...Well maybe I spoke too soon.

    redriverflood4.jpg

We'll have developments of how both Red River and Capilano Valley have fared in our next update.

And so, I'll have to leave you at that. Be sure to check in next time to see how the towns have stood up to nature!

    wishfulanthony: Thanks, anthonius!

    cheese91: Thanks, Addie! 4.gif

tomdapom: Well, dumping half of the average monthly precipitation of August in a few hours will do that. 3.gif I thought I mentioned in the paper as well, that the areas have had a wet summer as well, leading to the rivers being a little fuller than usual. 2.gif Glad you liked the updates! 9.gif

Welp, it's update time again! Apologies for the delay, I've been rather addicted to Spore for the past week. Updates should return to the their usual schedule for the next while at least. Now for the update. Just a quick shot, I'll have a paper for you guys tomorrow.

    phludsmall.jpg

The reach of the flood waters, assessed by the city after the storm had passed.

Please do click the image for a full view. You can't really see from the 800x600 shot.

Well unfortunately, that's all I've got today, folks. I should have a paper tomorrow sometime, Tuesday at the latest that'll give us all some information as to what transpired and how residents are coping. Until then, so long!

    commentssac.jpg

Theirishnintendonerd: Indeed! It's the way nature works, though.

    Mikeaut1: Thanks, mikey! 9.gif

GreekMan: Hehe, I saw the article.. thanks! 4.gif

Hawkeye9: Thank you, glad you're liking things!

    penguin007: Thank you!

cheese91: Thanks! Glad you like it 4.gif

toki.s: Sure it is. Assuming you're referring to Red River, it's entirely possible. This is a bridge in Edmonton.. and here it is in 1915. Minor difference, eh? 2.gif Of course, this is probably a once in a few hundred years flood.

    d_man18: Thank you!

un1: Hehe, thanks! Hope so too. 3.gif

sixers33: Welcome to Canada. 3.gif Thanks!

    Almighty Nienabar: Rain mod! 9.gif

suplado!: Thanks, glad you like it!

pilotdaryl: Perhaps. But too late now. 3.gif

    jacqulina: Thanks, jacky! 9.gif
